3 Source of Blessings In the words of the Promised Messiah (peace be on him) It is essential that those who are able to afford to travel should attend the Jalsa which is in so many ways a source of blessings. They should not mind minor losses in the way. God gives ample rewards to sincere believers at every step and no hardship or trouble goes to waste (it is definitely rewarded by God). I should like to make it clear that this Jalsa must not be taken like other gatherings. This is a special event that has been based on the succor of God. (Ishtihar, 7 December 1891) The aim of the gathering is that the sincere members of the Jama at should be able to derive religious benefits and at the same time they should acquire more knowledge and advance in their nearness to God. One advantage is that meeting their friends will broaden their circle of brotherhood and it will strengthen the mutual ties. 4 The Jalsa Salana of USA will, InshaAllah, be held at Dulles Expo Center. The Expo center is located in the Chantilly Shopping Center on Willard Rd. in Chantilly, VA. Directions to Jalsa Gah Dulles Expo Center from all different directions are briefly mentioned below: Driving Directions: From North Baltimore, New York Take I-95 South to I-495 (Washington D.C. Beltway) West. Take Exit 45A, Route 267 West (Dulles Toll Road) for 11 miles. Take Exit 9A, Route 28 South (Sully Road). Continue on Route 28 South for approximately 6 miles. At the first light past Route 50, take a left onto Willard Road. Follow signs to Dulles Expo & Conference Center. Take I-66 West via exit 49 going towards Manassas/Front Royal and travel approximately 11 miles. Take exit 53B for Sully Road (Route 28 North). Drive 3 miles North on Route 28. Turn right onto Willard Road. Make a left at the first light off of Willard Road into the Chantilly Shopping Center. From West Manassas (I-66) From I-66 East, take exit 53B, Route 28 North (Dulles Airport). Drive 3 miles North on Route 28. Turn right onto Willard Road. Take the first left off of Willard Road into Chantilly Shopping Center. Follow signs to Dulles Expo & Conference Center. From South Richmond, Take I-95 North to Washington Capital Beltway (I-95/495). From I-95, take I-495 (Washington Beltway) North towards Tysons Corner. Drive approximately 6 miles. Get in the left lane towards the end of the 6 miles because you will be making a left lane exit off of I-495 North. Take Route 66 West and drive approximately 10 miles. Take exit 53B, Route 28 North (Dulles Airport). Drive 3 miles North on Route 28. Turn right onto Willard Road. Take the second left off of Willard Road into Chantilly Shopping Center. Follow signs to Dulles Expo & Conference Center From West Frederick, Hagerstown (I-70) From Frederick, Maryland take the I-270 SPUR South towards I-495 South/Northern Virginia (Northern Virginia/Tysons Corner). Merge onto I-495 South the Capital Beltway and travel approximately 9 miles.

5 Driving from Airports and Union Station to Jalsa Site From BWI Airport: Proceed to the airport exit. The airport exits to I-195 West. Proceed on I- 195 west, which will take you to I-95. Take I-95 South towards Washington. Then follow the From North directions above. Carpool Staging area/pentagon South Parking. Merge onto Washington Blvd towards Ridge Road. Merge onto Arlington Blvd/US-50 West towards Falls Church. Merge onto I-495 North/Capital Beltway toward I-66 / Rockville. Merge onto I-66 West via exit 49C on the left toward Vienna/Front Royal. Merge onto Sully Rd / VA-28 North via exit 53B-A. Turn slight right onto Willard RD Turn left onto Chantilly Shopping Center. From National Airport: From the airport, follow signs to 395 South. Take 395 South and drive approximately 10 miles. Take I-495 North (Washington D.C. Beltway) towards Tysons Corner. Drive approximately 6 miles. Stay in the left lane towards the end of the 6 miles because you will be making a left lane exit off of I-495 North. Take Route 66 West and drive approximately 10 miles. Take exit 53B, Route 28 North (Dulles Airport) Drive 3 miles North on Route 28. Turn right onto Willard Road. Take the first left off of Willard Road into the Chantilly Shopping Center. Follow signs to Dulles Expo & Conference Center. From Dulles Airport: From the airport, follow exit signs for Washington DC. Stay towards the right. Drive for approximately 1 mile and take Route 28 South towards Centerville. Drive for approximately 6 miles and pass over Route 50. At the first light past Route 50, take a left onto Willard Road. Follow signs to Dulles Expo & Conference Center. From Union Station in Washington D.C: Start out going West on Massachusetts AVE NE. Massachusetts Ave NE becomes unnamed road. Turn slight right. Turn slight right onto Columbus Cir NE. Turn slight left onto Louisiana Ave NE. Turn slight right onto D ST NW. Merge onto I-395 S via the ramp on the left. Take the VA-27 / Washington Blvd / Ridge Rd exit- EXIT 8A- toward Taking a Taxi Taxi cab service is available at all 3 Airports as well as Union Station; tell the cab driver that you are going to the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA. 6 Transportation Information: Please read the following instructions below related to Transportation needs during the upcoming USA Jalsa Salana. If you feel that the information provided below is incomplete and/or require additional information/assistance then please contact the Nazim Transportation. Please complete and fax the attached Transport Service Request Form to communicate your travel plans to Nazim Transportation. The Transport Service Request Form is attached towards the end of this package Transportation from the Airport: Dulles Airport (IAD) is the preferred Airport for this year s USA Jalsa Salana. The Jalsa Gah (Expo Center) is approximately 8 miles from the Dulles Airport. Transportation From and To Baltimore- Washington (BWI) and Washington National (DCA) Airport will be provided. However, the shuttle frequency from these Airports will be lot less due to the distance from Jalsa Gah and the Airports (BWI is approximately 60 miles/90 mins and Washington National Airport is approximately 27 miles/60 mins from the Expo Center). Please plan additional time into your trip to reach the Jalsa Gah while requesting Transportation service from these two Airports. ALL transportation needs from the Airports should be sent via fax using the Transportation Service Request Form. It is very important that we receive complete information with the required fields to provide you with the service with minimal delays. You can include a copy of your itinerary along with the below form. ALL requests should be faxed prior to August 25th, The fax number provided on the form below will not be available after Aug 25th, 2006 for pick-up service requests. Limited service from the Airports will be available during August 28th and 30th, 2006 with lesser frequency of the shuttles and limited destinations. Please plan ahead and make arrangements with Nazim Transportation well in advance. Full service from the Airports to Jalsa Gah will start on Thursday August 31st, 2006 with the following destinations: o BWI Airport to Masjid Bait-ur-Rahman then a transfer from Masjid Bait-ur- Rahman to the Jalsa Gah o National Airport to Jalsa Gah (no service to Masjid Bait-ur-Rahman) o Dulles Airport to Jalsa Gah (no service to Masjid Bait-ur-Rahman) At the time of confirming your arrival date and time, a member of the Transportation team will provide you details of where to report after your flight has landed. The person on duty will welcome you and guide you to the next available shuttle to Jalsa Gah. For additional information please contact Nazim Transportation Transportation from the Union Train Stations: Any request for pick-up service from any Train Stations should be directed to Nazim Transportation. Due to the rare nature of this type of pick-up request, it will be addressed per need basis. Transportation from the Airport to Hotels: Members who are arriving at the Dulles Airport and staying in the hotels recommended by the Jalsa Accommodation Department should contact their hotel for transportation from the Airport to the respective hotel you are staying. This service is free (might have to tip the drive). Prior arrangements will be made with the hotels to allow this service for our guests. Please contact the Nazim Transportation in case Hotel Shuttle pickup service isn t available at the hotel you are staying at. Members who are arriving at either BWI or the National Airport will be provided transportation to their respective hotels.

7 Transportation from the Hotels to Jalsa Gah: Members staying in the hotels recommended by the Jalsa Accommodation Department should check at the front desk of their respective hotels for more info on pick-up/drop-off service that will be available for the guest from the hotel to the Jalsa Gah. Transportation during Jalsa sessions between the Jalsa Gah and the hotels will be provided only for emergencies. Additional Information: Members staying at a guest house (Ahmadi family s house) should arrange for their own transportation To and From the Jalsa Gah. While the Jalsa Transportation team is committed to provide you a high level of service, we request all members to provide your arrival information prior to Aug 25th, 2006 and remember the volunteers in your prayers. The Jalsa site has open marked parking for every car. It is requested that each incoming vehicle park and then walk to the Jalsa site to eliminate congestion in the parking lot. Drop-off will be available for elderly, disabled or other persons unable to walk from the parking lot. Other instructions: If you are driving to Jalsa, please proceed directly to the parking lots. Park your cars properly to ensure that the available parking spaces are availed efficiently. 8 Lunch and Dinner Lunch and dinner will be provided at the Jalsa site along with tea during the Jalsa. Since 1992, food at the Jalsa Salana USA has been prepared and served in the Langar Khana style. We will, InshaAllah, be continuing this tradition of the Promised Messiah (A.S.) at this year s Jalsa Salana. InshaAllah we will also serve breakfast at the Jalsa Gah. On Saturday and Sunday breakfast will be available from 8:00am 9:30am. The National Exhibition The Exhibition will be set up inside the halls of the Expo Center where the Jalsa is being held. Members are welcome to visit the Exhibition as often as possible along with their guests (except during the Salat and Jalsa programs). Visiting hour schedule will be posted at each entrance. A book stall will also be arranged on site for purchase. Sanat-o-Tijarat (Industry & Trade) Majlis Khuddam ul Ahmadiyya USA has setup a Sanat-o-Tijarat (Industry & Trade) booth this year at US Jalsa Salana The charter of Sanat-o-Tijarat is to provide a collaborative platform where Jama at members can share and learn professional skills engaging with other members that may help in their educational/professional careers as well as businesses. Children Activities & Registration The objective of the Children s Area at Jalsa is to gradually train our children to listen and appreciate the Jalsa while allowing for a fun, educational, and Islamic environment. Two areas will be assigned for children. An area for mothers with young children under age 5 (Group 1) and an area for children from ages 5-7 (Group 2). As space is limited and we will be following a first come first serve policy, we encourage you to PROMPTLY return the filled out registration form (attached at the bottom of this packet). The registrations for children will also be made available online, please check the Jalsa site ( for updates. Medical Camp The Medical Camp has been arranged for our brother and sister Ahmadis who cannot afford to get their physical examination done or would like to have a second opinion from an Ahmadi doctor about their health (no charge). -Free checkup from specialists: including, cardiologists, sleep specialists, internists, ENT specialist, Neurologist, Neurosurgeons, and Homeopathy etc. Timings will be available at the Information Center. Accommodation Arrangements for out of town Jalsa participants will be made at the homes of local Ahmadi families and at Hotels/Motels in the vicinity of the Jalsa site. As indicated on the registration form, participants must make accommodation in hotels. 11 REGISTRATION FORM FOR CHILDREN, JALSA 2006 The objective of the Children s Area at Jalsa is to gradually train our children to listen and appreciate the Jalsa while allowing for a fun, educational, and Islamic environment. Two areas will be assigned for children. There will be a nursery area for mothers with young children under age 5 (Group 1) and an area for children from ages 5-7 (Group 2). Both areas will be located inside the Expo center. Group 1: We expect the mother to stay with her infant in the nursery. 12 GENERAL RULES FOR THE CHILDREN S AREA It is recommended that the registration be done online Children who are eligible to register must be 5 years old by September 1, Those who are not 5 by September 1 are not eligible to register Please drop off and pick up children at the designated times If you think that your child is not ready to be separated from you, then it is advisable that you do not place him/her in the tent If you decide after the first session that you will not be bringing your child for the subsequent sessions, please let the Naiba in charge know. If the child misses a session without informing the Naiba in charge his or her registration will be cancelled, and a new child will be assigned his seat. 12

14 ETIQUETTE OF ATTENDING JALSA SALANA The Promised Messiah (AS) has prayed for all participants of the Jalsa - past, present and future - in the following words: "I pray to God that He be with all those who are coming to attend the Jalsa. May God grant them great rewards, may He show Mercy on them and remove their hardships and sorrows. May He let them have what they desire and raise them on the Day of Resurrection along with those to whom He has shown Mercy and His Grace. 'O God, O You who are the great Granter, the Benevolent and Merciful, the Remover of hardships, do listen to all these my prayers and grant us victory over our opponents with great glaring signs, for You have the power to do whatever You like. Ameen.' (December 7, 1892) This is no ordinary gathering. There are many benefits of the Jalsa to the participants. Members should utilize this opportunity to renew their personal faith and spirituality, meet and establish friendship with other members of the community, welcome new members into the fold of the community and remember those who have passed away in the previous year and pray for them. Jalsa participants should: Pray for safe travel of all members to and from Jalsa. Try to portray the true and beautiful image of the Jamaat to outsiders, especially our neighbors. Cooperate with Khuddam on duty to help you park in appropriate spaces. Register as soon as you come to Jalsa and put on your name badge. Notify security about any suspicious characters not wearing a badge. Offer Salat in congregation at designated times. Observe proper mosque etiquette when in the prayer area. Listen quietly during recitation of the Holy Quran. Not disturb others by talking among yourselves during the formal sessions. Attend Jalsa sessions in marquees at proper times. Not visit the dining tent or stalls during formal sessions. Not waste food and keep the dining area clean. Keep the bathrooms clean and report any non-functional bathrooms ASAP. Be courteous to fellow attendees of the Jalsa. Show respect to your elders and act in a kind manner to those younger than you. Not waste time in idle gossip but spend their spare time in remembering Allah. Wear Islamic clothing. Men and women should cover their heads. Women must observe Purdah and men must observe "Ghaz-e-Basr"(lowering of the eyes). Men should not crowd near the women's entrance. Families should fix their meeting points beforehand to avoid crowding in these areas. Make sure that children as well as teenagers are at their best behavior. Mothers should come prepared and bring formula, supplies and diapers etc for their infants. Constantly pray for the success of the Jalsa. 14
