1 Thank You for Registering for the Notre Dame Swimming Camp! We hope summer camp will be a memorable and exciting experience for you! The information in this packet is very important, so please read it thoroughly and fill out the enclosed forms. What Every Camper Should Know Camp Dates: Registration: Traditional Camp; Session 1; June 8 12 (Tuesday-Saturday) Training Camp; Session 2; June (Friday-Tuesday) Traditional Camp, Session 3; June (Monday-Friday) Stroke Camp; Session 4; June (Sunday-Wednesday) Session 1: June 8 (TUES): 10:00 am 11:00 am, at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Session 2: June 11 (FRI): 10:00 am 11:00 am, at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Session 3: June 14 (MON): 11:00 am 12:00 pm, at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Session 4: June 20 (SUN): 10:00 am 11:00 am, at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. Directions: Notre Dame is located on the outskirts of South Bend, Indiana, approximately 90 miles east of Chicago on the Indiana Toll Road (80/90), Exit 77. Proceed through Exit 77 toll plaza and turn right onto SR 933/Business 31 South at traffic light. Follow 933/31 south through three (3) sets of traffic lights. Turn east (left) onto Angela Road (corner of Burke golf course and St. Joseph High School). Follow Angela east through one (1) traffic light. Turn north (left) onto Juniper Road. Follow Juniper Road and turn right into the first large parking lot (C1), where you should park your car. Rolfs Aquatic Center is located in the Joyce Center by gate 5 (in the corner). Departure: Departure dates and times: Session 1: Ends June 12 (SAT) 11:30 AM Session 2: Ends June 15 (TUES) 11:30 AM Session 3: Ends June 18 (FRI) 11:30 AM Session 4: Ends June 23 (WED) 4:00 PM Meet departing campers at their respective dorm.

2 Phone Numbers: Before Camp: (574) Camp Office During Camp: (574) Swimming Office If you need to get a message to a camper, please call the swimming office between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm (Chicago time April October), Monday Friday, and the message will be given to the camp director. Voice mail will be checked throughout the day. (574) Use only in extreme emergencies! Early Arrivals: No early arrivals will be accepted. Non-Boarders: Non-Boarders should register with all other campers. Non-Boarders should be dropped off at 7:45 am and picked up at 4:30 pm at the pool each day. Housing: Campers will be residing in undergraduate residence halls on the Notre Dame campus. Health & Safety: A University athletic trainer will be on duty each day during hours of scheduled camp activity. University Health Services facilities, EMT s or the local hospital will be available 24 hours a day. Meals are prepared under the direction of the University dietician and served in the University s North Dining Hall. Drugs, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes are strictly forbidden and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for immediate dismissal from camp without a refund. The University reserves the right to dismiss anyone displaying unacceptable behavior. Decisions made by the camp director are final. Any damage to the residence halls will be billed to the parents of the campers who have been the cause of the damage or to the parents of the campers who are assigned to the particular room where the damage occurred. Campers taking prescription medicine must be responsible for their own medication. If your child cannot self-medicate, a parent or legal guardian must be available to administer medication during camp. If you decide that your child can self-medicate, please make arrangements to remind your child to take their medication. Camp counselors and athletic trainers are not allowed to hold or dispense prescription medication, and will not be responsible for reminding your child to take their medication. Additionally, the health center and EMT s will not hold or dispense medication. Camp Meeting: Informational meetings with the camp staff will be held at Rolfs Aquatic Center to review rules and regulations for each session on the following dates and times: Session 1, June 8 th at 11:30 am Session 2, June 11th at 11:30 am Session 3, June 14 th at 12:30pm **Please eat lunch prior to meeting** Session 4, June 20 th at 11:30am

3 Parents are encouraged to attend. If you have any questions regarding these meetings, please call the swimming office at (574) Cancellations: If you must cancel, please do so early so that we can notify those on the waiting list. If you cancel for any reason 14 days prior to the start of camp, you will receive a refund less a $75.00 cancellation fee. If you cancel for any reason 7 days prior to the start of camp, you will receive a refund less a $150 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for any reason within 1 week of a camp session s start date. Camp Bank: The Notre Dame Swimming Camp will provide a camp bank that can be utilized throughout the session. Spending money should be deposited in the camp bank and campers can make daily withdrawals as needed at the designated times. Camp Store: The camp store will be open on the first and last day of camp. First Meal: Please note that the first meal will be lunch on the first day of camp for session s 1, 2, and 4. The first meal for session 3 will be dinner. Last Meal: Please note the last camp meal for session s 1,2, and 3 will be breakfast on the last day of camp. The last camp meal for session 4 will be lunch on the last day of camp. Checklist of Things to Bring Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. We recommend that you do not bring unnecessary clothes or expensive cameras, refrigerators, radios, TV s, watches or other valuable items that could get lost. Notre Dame is not responsible for any personal items brought to camp. Please label everything you bring. All items will be the responsibility of the individual camper. Notre Dame is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or forgotten items. Please note: Skateboards, rollerblades, bikes, scooters, etc. will not be allowed, so please do not bring them to camp! Swimming Items: Swim Suits Goggles Swim Caps Optional Swim Equipment: Paddles Pullbuoy Kickboard Fins Non-Swimming Items: Bed linens and Pillow Towels Mosquito Repellent Spending Money Rain Gear Walking/Running/Exercise Shoes Note: The residence halls are not air-conditioned. We strongly recommend that campers bring small, portable fans!

4 Swim Snorkel: A limited number of Lane 4 Front Mounted Swim Snorkel s will be available for $30.00 (no credit cards accepted) at registration. Please check the swim snorkel box on the Swim Snorkel Request Form at the bottom of this page and return it if you would like to purchase a snorkel. Please make checks payable to Notre Dame Swim Camp and bring to registration. Payment will not be accepted prior to registration! Roommates: Campers are usually assigned two per room, but could also be placed in a single, triple, or quad(depending upon what dorms are available). We do not accept requests for triples or quads. If you have a roommate request, please complete the form below and send it to us as soon as possible. Roommate request will be honored only when both campers request each other as roommates. We do our best to meet all requests however, due to accommodation limitations we cannot always meet every request. 5 Transportation: Your travel form is below. Please return it to us as soon as possible, so we can make arrival arrangements. Return the travel form, only if you need transportation to and/or from camp. ***In order for your son/daughter to be picked up at the South Bend Regional Airport, you must indicate his/her travel plans and return the attached form. Transportation will be provided from the South Bend Regional Airport ONLY! South Shore Railroad provides service between the South Bend Regional Airport and Chicago. A swimming camp staff member will meet all campers at the baggage claim area of the South Bend Regional Airport as their flight, Coach USA Bus, or train arrives.
