3 Welcome to Oregon Tradeswomen s 26th Annual Career Fair! Oregon Tradeswomen is a Portland based non-profit organization. We produce this annual event to help more women know about apprenticeship and high-skill, highpaying careers in the construction trades. You may not know, but across the United States, women hold less than 3% of all the construction trades jobs! We are proud to say that Oregon is one of the leading states in the country for women who have careers in the building trades. A recent report from the Bureau of Labor and Industries stated that women make up 7.2% of all registered apprenticeships in Oregon! Wright Concrete Stepping Stones Outdoor Space 7 Maximum 25 students Workshops at 9:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm Learn how to work with concrete, rebar, and formwork to create a custom concrete stepping stone. Bring home stones at the end of the day. NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center Bending the Light Room 16 Maximum 15 students Workshops at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm Learn how fiber works by building a light display that uses a switch, LED, fiber, 9V battery, then take home your own fiber optic light display! NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center Wire a Light Room 5 Maximum 15 students Workshops at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm Experience what it is like to create light with your own two hands! ReBuilding Center Tiny Planter Box Room 10 Maximum 20 students Workshops at 9:30am, 10:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm Learn how to use hand power tools and make your very own planter box to take home. Umatilla Robotics Build a Lego Robot Room 9 Maximum 15 students Workshops at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm Join Umatilla FIRST Robotics for building and programming LEGO robots, learning about and driving our FIRST Robotics Competition robot, and a small presentation about the FIRST program. Walsh Construction Build a House Lab 1 Maximum 20 students Workshops at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 1:30pm Assemble a small wood framed house and deconstruct it. Learn how to use cordless power drills.

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) CAD Weld: Watch the Sparks Fly Don safety gear and weld your own piece of underground cable in this exothermic welding process used frequently by our high voltage electricians and lineworkers to build and repair the underground wiring system at substations. See what it takes to keep the lights on and electricity flowing through the Northwest s transmission system. Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Surveying: The World At Your Feet Use survey equipment to measure angles, distances and find buried metal objects, such as property corner markers. See how our crews analyze and record location, distance and elevation of land to help design plans and maps for projects.
