Brookes Ahalt s Jefferson Animal Hospital located on Roundtree Drive has finally broken ground. Guess he completed the hoop jumping imposed by the county and State. Jim Rogers, associate member, has a new address: 25 Clubhouse Road, Coventry, RI HEALTH NOTES.Keep the following in your thoughts and prayers as they reside outside their homes for care and support or experiencing recent health issues: Luther Hargett (with daughter in Hagerstown) Debbie Lescallet (Al) progressing well after treatments for cancer Sam Pearson Sam is out and about now after having a shoulder replacement. Still has to be limited in his activities as he does therapy to regain mobility of shoulder. Joe Dade is scheduled to have his gall bladder removed. Frank Hoffmaster had a short stay in hospital in FL. Understand he is back at his winter home doing well. Artie House had a brief visit to FMH after he had a fainting spell during the public supper. He was quickly back on his feet and can be found out and about. Dave Snyder had eye operation.may be seeing him about with those dark glasses. Jerry Midula had stay at FMH for pneumonia. BOARD RECOMMENDATIONS Support the 11 th Annual Frank Clevenger Memorial Golf Tournament (Potomac District of Ruritan National) by sponsoring a hole at cost of $80 and sponsoring a team at cost of $280. (NOTE: If you would like to be a member of the club s team, contact Larry Cassell. The tournament will be held at Maple Run Golf Course in Thurmont, MD on Friday, May 13, 2016) Agree to be a sponsor of the Frederick County Envirothon program sponsored by the Catoctin and Frederick Soil Conservation Districts at a cost of $200. Support the Frederick County Farm Bureau s annual Youth Farm Safety Camp with a donation of $100. Approve the active membership application for Robby Whipp, sponsored by Frank Blank. (NOTE: Robby is Frank s son-in-law who resides at 1708 Water Street, Knoxville, MD with his wife, Tracey.) RURITAN DISTRICT/NATIONAL NEWS POTOMAC DISTRICT OF RURITAN NATIONAL District Cabinet Meeting to be held Sat., April 2, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club. Dinner served at 5pm with meeting starting at 6pm. ALL Ruritan members are invited to the cabinet meetings. Contact L. Cassell if you plan on attending. 3

4 Friday, May 13, 2016 is the annual Frank Clevenger Memorial Golf Tournament to be held at the Maple Run Golf Course in Thurmont, MD. Flyers regarding the event will be available at club meetings. Need players, sponsors, door prizes and VOLUNTEERS. See L. Cassell for additional information. Proceeds from the event support the Potomac District scholarship program through Ruritan National Foundation. Sat., November 12, 2016 is the date for the annual Potomac District Convention. It will be held again at the Rhodes Grove Conference Center near Greencastle, PA. The event starts at 8am and concludes by 3pm. RURITAN NATIONAL Ruritan National Cabinet Meeting will be held in Dublin, VA March 17-19, As National Director, I will be attending. If you need anything shared with National, contact me prior to the 17 th. Founders Day is scheduled for Sat., May 21, 2016 at Holland, VA. The day s events include a parade, bbq cook-off, children s activities, and an evening banquet. (NOTE: May 22, 2016 is Ruritan Sunday) January 19-22, 2017 is the Ruritan National Convention, scheduled for Kingsport, TN. Info will be available in RURITAN Magazine. Register early for room at the hotel if you plan on attending. 5 State s Attorney Charles Smith addresses club members at the February meeting. A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says, I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir. The driver says, Goodness, officer, I had it on cruise control at 60; perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating. Not looking up from her knitting the wife says, Now don t be silly dear. You know that this car doesn t have cruise control. As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, Can t you please keep your mouth shut for once? The wife smiles demurely and says, Well dear, you should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did or your speed would have been higher. As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, Woman, can t you keep your mouth shut? The officer frowns and says, And I notice that you re not wearing your seat belt, sir. That s an automatic $75 fine. The driver says, Yeah, well, you see, officer, I had it on, but I took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket. The wife says, Now, dear, you know very well that you didn t have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you are driving. And as the officer is writing out the third ticket, the driver turns to his wife and barks, WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP! The officer looks over at the woman and asks, Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma am? Only when he s drinking. 5
