Editor/Writer Sue Jeglinski President s Letter Dear Atlantis, The storm that came through on July 14th left downed trees and property damage in its wake. The county was quick to act and began clearing debris that very evening. I know that many of you sustained some pretty bad damage and I hope that you are/were able to recover quickly. I was very pleased to see so many neighbors helping each other out during this crisis. We have had a rash of vandalism the past few months: The American flag at the entrance to our community was stolen twice, and the flagpole was damaged beyond repair. Both have since been replaced. The Tot Lot was vandalized as well, with spray paint on the sign, picnic table and slide. In addition we have noticed stencils of foxes popping up on utility boxes and the back of signs. If anyone sees anything suspicious please don t hesitate to call the police non-emergency number ( ). The board has decided to have the common areas of the community sprayed for mosquitoes. The Main Park, Tot Lot and trail to the pier will be sprayed within the next month. If you notice a difference in any of these areas please let us know ( or community line) so we can determine if the spraying is worth it. Lastly, we are in need of a volunteer to change the trash bag in the can at the Tot Lot and bring the can to the curb on a weekly basis. If you have a dog and utilize this can for throwing away droppings, please consider helping the community by manning the can. Board Meeting Minutes Date: June 5, 2014 Board Members in Attendance: Elizabeth Cologer, Yvonne Gazelle, Ben Hadden, Steve Gindes, Eric Kempton, and Mark Murray. Call to Order: 7:00 p.m. Financial Report: Steve Gindes presented the financial report, finances are in good shape. The 3 rd notice has gone out to the homes that have not paid for Yard Sale: The Yard and Bake Sale took in $470 and expenses ran approximately $335. Entrance: A quote of $1,070 was received to plant bushes and trees at the entrance. The board discussed this and reached a general consensus that few bushes and trees were needed. Elizabeth Cologer moved, and Sue Jeglinski seconded, to spend up to $1070 on the plantings. The motion was carried. The flag pole that was damaged by vandals has been replaced. The first stolen flag was also replaced but it was decided to wait a bit before replacing the 2 nd stolen flag. The board discussed camera surveillance for that area, because photos of the vandals and thieves could be turned over the police for prosecution. Mosquito Spraying: Eric Kempton will get estimates for having the common areas sprayed by a private company. Ahoy! The board discussed returning to paper for the Ahoy! It seems to not be read online. Yvonne Gazelle moved to return to paper. Sue Jeglinski seconded. The motion was carried. Adjournment: Sue Jeglinski moved to adjourn the meeting, Ben Hadden seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Date: July 10, 2014 Board Members in Attendance: Gerald Bechard, Elizabeth Cologer, Steve Gindes, Sue Jeglinski, Eric Kempton, and Mark Murray. Call to Order: 7:00 p.m. Financial Report: Steve Gindes presented the financial report, finances are in good shape. A 5 th notice has gone out to the remaining 5 homes. Two of those have paid and the remaining 3 will be on the agenda for next month as the board considers legal action. Mosquito Spraying: Eric Kempton got prices for mosquito spraying for the common areas. The large park would be $179, the Tot Lot would be $59, the nature trail would be $329 and the pier area would be $59. Gerald Bechard moved to spray the large park, the Tot Lot and the pier. Sue Jeglinski seconded and the motion was carried. Entrance Flag Lighting: A quote of $645 was received to install outside lighting for the flag at the entrance and repair the pipe and conduit to the light. Elizabeth Cologer moved, and Eric Kempton seconded, to spend up to the money on this project. The motion was carried. The flag pole that was damaged by vandals has been replaced. Pier Trash Cans: A neighbor who volunteered to take care of the trash can located at the pier spent $25 to buy material to clean the trashcan. He will be reimbursed by the HOA. Chair s Discretion: A volunteer is needed to empty the trash can at the Tot Lot and place the bag on the curb each trash day. If no one volunteers to do this, the trash can will be removed. The trail to the pier needs some landscaping care. The trees are growing over the rope line and someone has dumped yard waste in that area. Exterior Image will be contacted about this. The Tot Lot was vandalized but not caught on camera. EZ-Off oven cleaner helped remove the ink. Adjournment: Sue Jeglinski moved to adjourn the meeting, Gerald Bechard seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:38 p.m. Atlantis HOA meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7PM - St. Andrew by the Bay College Parkway, Room 7 - All Atlantis residents are urged to attend.
