1 2015 Kids Cave Summer Camp Information Packet Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the 2015 Bangor Parks and Recreation Kids Cave Summer Camp. For some, this may be your child s first time attending a Day Camp and for others this may be their 2 nd, 3 rd or 4 th time attending our camp. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and some new ones too. Together we can make this a fun and safe summer. Campers entering K-1 st grade will be at Fourteenth Street School, campers entering 2 nd -3 rd grade will be at Fairmount School, and campers entering 4 th -6 th grade will be at Mary Snow School. 4 th graders will NOT have the option to attend the Fairmount Camp this year. Camp assignments could change according to the grade range of registrations. If any changes occur, we will notify parents before the program starts. Registration: Only weekly registrations are accepted. Registrations can be made online or at the Bangor Parks & Recreation office. No phone registrations are accepted. Registrations open on Monday, March 16 th for residents. Registration for non-residents starts Monday, June 1 st. Resident: Non-Resident: Fees $100/week $115/week AutoPay $95/week $110/week Deposits: A $20 Non-Refundable Deposit is required for each week you plan on attending. This deposit is due upon registration. No deposit necessary when you sign up for AutoPay. Making Payments: Payments can be made online at or at the Bangor Parks and Recreation office. We do not accept payments at the camps. You are required to pay for every day registered for, regardless of attendance. AutoPay: Your credit card will be billed every Sunday starting the first week your child attends camp until your balance is paid off. No deposit necessary when you sign up for AutoPay. Please call us at if you have any questions about AutoPay. Example of Auto Pay: If you register your child for weeks 2, 5, and 6, your credit card will be billed the Sunday of week 2, 3, and 4. You will then be prepaid for week 5 and 6. Second Child Discount: A discount of $10 per week is available when register more than one child for the same week. Please come into the Bangor Parks & Recreation office if you plan on using this discount. Payment Due Dates: Payment is due 10 days prior to the start of the week your child is attending. If payments are not made, your child s spot is not guaranteed, and will be filled by a child from the waiting list. Mary Snow School Camp Dates: The Kids Cave Summer Camp will begin Monday, June 22 nd and end Friday, August 14 th. There will be no camp of Friday, July 3 rd due to Independence Day. Drop-off: Drop-off is from 7:30 am 9:00 am. You are welcome to drop your child off after this time, but please be aware that we may not be at the school. If we are not at the school, there will be a sign stating where we are. All campers must be signed in with a counselor when they arrive. Campers may not be dropped off before 7:30 am. Pick-up: Pick-up is from 3:30 pm 5:30 pm. You are welcome to pick your child up before this time, but please be aware that we may not be at the school. If we are not at the school, there will be a sign stating where we are. All campers must be signed out at the end of the day. We assume anyone listed on your registration form has permission to pick up your child. If not or if someone else will be picking up your child, please notify us in writing. Without written permission, we will not release your child to someone not on your list of approved individuals. All campers must be picked up by 5:30 pm. A late fee of $15 for each 15 minutes late will be charged. Excessive late pick-ups may result in your child being removed from the program. Please call us if you think you will be running late. Transfers: A transfer of weeks is allowed if space is available. All transfer requests must be made in writing and given to the camp supervisor or director. All transfers are subject to a $5 transfer fee. Cancellations & Refunds: All cancellations must be made in writing and given to the camp supervisor or director. There will be no refund for any cancellations not made at least 7 days prior to attending camp. Any refunds will be minus the $20 Non-Refundable Deposit. Failure to submit written notice of cancellation may result in not receiving a refund. Behavior: Campers whose behavior seriously interferes with a positive camp experience may be subject to suspension or dismissal. If your child requires a one-on-one aid during the school day, then we may require an aid with your child during summer camp at the parent s expense. Medication & Allergies: Please let us know of any medications your child is taking, any allergies, and/or any medical conditions we need to be aware of. Our staff will not be responsible for storing or administering medication. Swimming: Campers will have the opportunity to swim throughout the summer. The K-1 st Grade Campers and 2 nd -3 rd Grade Campers will mostly swim at Pancoe Aquatic Center. The 4 th -6 th Grade Campers will mostly swim at Dakin Pool but will have the opportunity to swim at Pancoe at least once a week. Swim Lessons: Please register your child for the 9:30 am session if you plan on having your K-3 rd grader take swim lessons while attending the Kids Cave Summer Camp. Swim Lessons are $20/session for residents and $30/session for noresidents. 3 Themes Weeks, Field Trips, and Activities: The following is a list of themes, field trips, special events, and activities. Any camper planning on participating in these field trips and special events will need to have a signed Field Trip Permission Slip. On field trip days, we do not offer an alternative program, so any child that attends on these days, must accompany us on the trip. For some field trips we will leave as early as 8:30 am. A full schedule of departure times will be listed. All children must be at camp and ready to go at assigned times. There will be no staff for any child arriving after our departure. Our goal at Kids Cave Summer Camp is to get the campers outside as much as possible. If it is a nice day, the campers will be outside. 4 Field Trips & Special Events Permission Slip FIELD TRIPS: On occasion, this program will be taking walking field trips, van field trips and even bus field trips. At this time you may give permission for your child to participate in all of the Field Trips. By signing below, I give permission for my child to participate in all field trips that are part of the Bangor Parks and Recreation Programs. PHOTOGRAPHS: This form gives permission for your child s photograph to be used to advocate and/or publicize our Parks and Recreation Programs. These publications may be used in local newspapers, brochures, on our website, television, or any other type of publication. I give permission for my child to participate in any photo or video session that may be part of Bangor Parks and Recreation Programs. MOVIES: On occasion, movies may be shown due to inclement weather. For children in K-5 th grade, only G and PG movies will be shown. For children in 6 th -10 th grade, only G, PG, and PG13 movies will be shown. By signing below, I give permission for my child to participate in movies during the Bangor Parks & Recreation Programs. Release of Liability: By signing this permission slip, I/we agree that the city of Bangor will not be liable for any legal claims arising out of unforeseeable conditions, motor vehicle accidents, negligence of any third party, or negligence by the City of Bangor or its employees. I/we will indemnify and hold harmless the City of Bangor for any all such claims.
