1 PART 1: GENERAL 1.01 Purpose This section contains standards pertaining to signage for gender inclusive bathrooms Summary The scope of work includes the removal of the existing restroom sign in addition to the manufacture and installation of a new restroom sign. Removed restroom signs are to be collected and provided to Facilities Services and Campus Planning and Projects Office (FSCP) Standards All work shall comply with ADA and ANSI accessibility requirements. PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.01 Proofs and Mockups Proofs and full-size mockups are required prior to manufacture for review by FSCP and shall include the style, dimensions, text and graphics layout, materials and colors and any other pertinent information to be used in manufacturing the sign Sign Size All signs are to be 6 wide and 8 tall Sign Text and Graphics All text shall be raised and centered. Each sign shall contain the following text and graphics: A. Wording at Top of All Signs: Anyone may use this restroom regardless of gender identity or expression. B. Graphic in Upper Middle of Sign: Sign content in this area shall be designed based upon one of the two concepts listed below. Concept #1 for Restrooms NOT accessible to the disabled: centered for Handicapped Accessible Restrooms: on left side of sign next to Handicapped Symbol on right side of sign 1

2 C. Wording at Lower Middle of All Signs: GENDER INCLUSIVE RESTROOM D. Wording at Bottom of All Signs to be written in Braille: Gender Inclusive Restroom 2.04 Sign Locations, Colors and Concept A. The following tables indicate which restrooms require gender inclusive signage. These tables are current as of May B. Gender inclusive signs shall match the style of the existing building signage with regard to the colors, materials and the use of rounded or square cornering of the sign, etc. C.
