Your input and support is necessary for it to work. There is no limit to the number of stories, articles, links to treasure stories, videos or contributions of any sort. We can discuss some guidelines at the next meeting. Let's make it exciting, something the club can be proud of and fun. Something to do when we are not out swinging the coil.. Dues are $30 a year. New members pay an initiation fee of $5, plus: $30 if joining between Jan. 1st and the end of June, or $15 if joining between July 1 and Dec. 31 Remember those members who are having health issues. Give Jan Smirnow or Linda Bennett your donations. Jerry Laur enjoying the food of Johnny Longboats along with seven other members. CHALLENGE LEVELS Do you enjoy a good challenge? If so, then you should join the quest to master the five challenge levels! This fun program offers a coin reward simply for finding a specific group of targets (much like a scavenger hunt) and showing those finds to the hunt master (Linda Bennett). You can find information about the challenge levels in your new member folder or at club meetings. For questions or explanations, come early to a meeting and speak with Linda. 3 HAVE DETECTOR, WILL TRAVEL TCAS HUNT Four members traveled to Wabasso on March 9 for the 26th Annual Benefit Hunt Bob Dobski - Big Winner The 2013 Central Florida Sunshine Shootout & Relic Hunt Ten club members traveled to Orlando on May 4 to join another 140 hunters from Florida, Washington state, Ohio, Indiana, California, Texas and North Carolina. This is the first annual hunt that was organized by the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club. Kellyco and Minelab partnered with them to help make the day and prizes extra special. The weather was rainy the first half of the day, but that didn't stop the eager participants. Kellyco started off with a warm up hunt in a sandy area. Linda Bennett and Kathy Marro found tokens for a digger. Pete Schneider and Karen Larson won 1 oz silver rounds in the raffle prizes. Three other hunts - painted penny hunt (awards for top hunters); silver hunt and relic hunt. Smokey Bones provided the lunch. 5 MAY MINUTES On May 8th members and guests of the Gold Coast Treasure meant in our new meeting location, the Science Museum located on Dreyer Trail in West Palm Beach (across from the old location). Bob, the evening custodian, greeted everyone at the door and immediately made us feel like special guests! He escorted the early arrivals to an auditorium with plush chairs, a stage, sound system and the works. Then the work started for Bob and those arriving early! Tables were arranged in the hallway for the greeting of the membership and guests. Amy Hamedl graciously volunteered to help Gail Hoskins with the greeting and selling of the door prizes and 50/50 raffle. Marge and Paul Hamlin showed up early with delicious treats, as well as several other members (sorry I honestly was so busy with setup inside the meeting room that I did not see who donated what, but it was all wonderful!). KUDOS to all who helped with the finger foods and the setup! Everyone was impressed with the luxury of the new meeting place! The bathrooms were virgin (ever been in a public one that just opened less than an hour before the meeting)! President Gary McNew opened our meeting explaining that the Secretary (me) had forgotten to bring the Agenda for the meeting so it was going to be a bit caotic. Vice President, Frank Nash, added three points to his contest tally for three guests and an extra point for a new member (a point for every guest and two points for a new member, accumulated monthly for the possible winning of a 2014 membership or a Silver Dollar, your choice). A discussion was held regarding the disappearance of the Coin Cache and a decision was made to discontinue for now and possibly continue again in the fall. Former President and long time member Karen Larson won the 50/50 a grand total of $41! It was good to see Karen, she now lives in North Carolina. Cheryl Petenbrink fooled everyone with a special hook in the Mystery Item Stumper contest! June s Mystery Stumper will be provided by GARY SPIROCH VOLUNTEERS are needed each meeting to greet members and guests, please if you know you are coming, let someone on the Board know ahead of time.
