2 June Website: President's message Greetings Fellow Snow Sport Enthusiasts! Even though you may feel that the snow season is long behind us, the Lewis Ski Club trip planners have already started tuning their gear. They have been certainly hard at work planning the snow trips for the next big snow season. This year, your ski club is considering a number of options from the east coast to the west coast, so be sure to keep your eye on the newsletter and your for updates on the big trips for the next snow season. I'm sure you don't want to miss out on the trips for this Hiking in Kings Canyon NP in California next season. Don't forget that your ski club also holds a number of out of snow activities. A number of events are either on the calendar or in the planning phases. Continue to watch the club news this summer season for fun activities. Of course, don't forget to put the August 2nd club picnic at Albion Woods onto your calendar. Please let us know of your planned attendance to help us ensure there is enough of all your favorite foods. I know I'm looking forward to the huge feast planned for this year. Also, don't forget the next club meeting on June 7th. Your summer ski club continues with a guest host from See the World Tours for information on favorite travel destinations. Finally, as your newly elected club president, I look forward to a lot of great times while serving you this year. I am certain it is going to be a fun year. Since becoming a member of the club, I have seen a lot of great work by a number of talented and motivated individuals in the Lewis Ski Club. If there is something you would like to see happen, feel free to make suggestions. I am always open to hearing new ideas from club members willing to help make things happen. Think Snow! (or at least sunny weather for summer activities) Aaron 2

6 June Website: Ski Travel Show On May 7, several members of the club attended the Ski Travel Show at the Cleveland Airport Marriott. This gives trip leaders and club officers the opportunity to speak with vendors and travel agents from resorts regionally, nationally and internationally. This is also an opportunity to get price quotes for groups or get the opportunity to check out specials for individual trips. Ski clubs from all over the region send representatives to the show. At the show, next year s trip leaders Tom Vannuyen, Dave Root and Shelli Sharp were working hard to get the best rates. The two week-long trips this year will be to North Lake Tahoe (staying in Reno) and Steamboat, CO. Fliers for both can be found on pages 7 and 8. While getting price quotes is the main business of the show, another benefit is the opportunity to walk away with some free items (stickers and posters are popular) and the door prizes given away at the end of the show. The door prizes range from sweatshirts and hats to several-day lift ticket and lodging packages. Lucky winners from the club include Sharp, who won a 3-day package to Jay Peak, VT, our president Aaron J. Swank, who won a 5-day lift and hotel package to Sun Valley, ID; Root, who won a two-day lift and hotel package to Swain resort in NY and Allison Wood, who received a free ticket to the new ropes course that just opened at Holiday Valley. (Suggested future event anyone?) -Allison Wood Friday the 13 th was nothing but luck for Steppin Out s 2011 variety show performance at the Rocky River Senior Center stage. Steppin Out is a group of nine talented women (one of which is Lewis Ski Club s Barb Knipple) who entertained a full audience with perfect harmonies & wonderful dance moves (I loved the tap)! These girls went all out in costu On With the Show recap me & their own professional band during their May 13 concert -Ray Neumann 6
