1 C T C NEWS May - June CRAFT-T-CARVERS MAY & JUNE 2015 CAMPOUTS A Big thanks to the Huffs who led the May campout in Hawaiian style! A small but lively group met in Hemet for the May Campout. Present were Hiemstra's, Huff's, Nicholson's and Scroggins and our brand new member Pat Sales. Thrashers came for the day on Saturday. We had to dodge raindrops on Thurs. and Friday, but the rest of the weekend was mostly sunny. The carve-along was a chicken on water-skis, to go along with our Hawaiian theme. Somehow a Santa Claus got in there too. Strange objects sometimes appear in those carvings! The ladies crocheted lei's on Friday and wore them to the luau on Saturday night. The meeting on Saturday was another combo meeting (board/general). A motion was made and passed to suspend the position of the Sheriff until which time our membership increases and we have to go back to two-host campouts. (Probably not in the near future)! A group of us crossed over to the Early Bird Sunday morning for breakfast and then the Huff's found out they needed a jump start. Nicholson's obliged! Don't forget - Ice Cream Social next month at Lake Elsinore. The June campout in Lake Elsinore was fun as well and a great time had by all to speed into the summer. We again had a small group of dedicated campers, as the heat was most oppressive and after the sun set down right chilly. Present were the Hiemstra s (thanks for hosting with the Powell s), Huff s, Nicholson s, Thrasher s, Powell and the late as usual Cashman s. We enjoyed a carving project of a vase, some followed the go by and some had a slightly different interpretation. The ladies, led by Janet, made sun-visors and mugs, decorated with colored pens and a great deal of imagination! We had a great breakfast with fresh hot biscuits too good to not have seconds; dinner was a fun event with decorations of surf and sand great food and as always enough to feed three times as many!!! The general meeting was a joint Board and general meeting covering several changes in the schedule; check out the schedule, as there are some changes. We also agreed to keep the restriction on having a sheriff for, for the time being, but President Tom asked for a Guilt offering from those of us who knew we had wronged he on the other hand had only large bills and was looking for change since he didn t feel as guilty as the cash on hand dictated. All in all the final breakfast of the season at Hunny s was a wonderful time to say adios to the group until next October when we will meet again. Blessings to all this season, Jim Cashman

5 C T C Culinary Corner 4 C. broccoli florets, cut into small pieces 1 ½ C. seedless red or green grapes, halved 1C. parsley 1C. raisins (golden) 1/3 C. reduced fat Mayonnaise ¼ C. fat free plain yogurt 2 tbs sugar 1 tbs cider vinegar ¼ C. sunflower seeds Broccoli Grape Salad by Nita Jakeway In a large bowl add the ingredients, grapes to vinegar, mix well and pour over the broccoli. Mix well, cover and refrigerate for at least one hour. Fold in the sunflower seeds just before serving. We received a note from our friend Nadine: Hello Dear Friends: So many of you have asked me to let you know the results of my recent Scans. I had a PETSCAN and a CT last Monday and Tuesday. We had a wonderful 5 day trip in the RV to Oceano with some friends in our Elks Group. I was able to keep my mind off my condition. Today I saw the Oncologist and she informed me that I am in REMISSION. I am a very happy woman right now. I am not completely out of the woods for good but it was nice to hear that word. The Oncologist met with the Radiologist and the Bone Marrow Dr's and they decided I should not have any more Chemo for at least 3 months. There is still something in the area of the tumor but the activity does not look unusual. In 3 months, I will repeat the Scans that I had last week and the Oncologist will meet again with the Bone Marrow Dr. and the Radiologist to determine if there was any change. I will keep the Biliary Drain and the PICC Line and the dressings will have to be changed weekly to prevent the possibility of any infection. Of course this is a little bit of a inconvenience but I can deal with it for now. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful cards, calls, s, words of encouragement, prayers and just for being there for me. I know all of it has helped me a great deal. 6 Announcements: The change in the location of our camping location for the month of January. Lynn sent a note: Hi All At the last meeting the managers of Lake Park Resort in Lake Elsinore advised us that unless we have at least 7 rigs for the full three days we will not be allowed to use either of the clubhouses. Since we have averaged less than 7 rigs recently and January would be too cold without a clubhouse, we need to change locations for the January campout. At the meeting we decided to look for another RV campground. Desert Willow in Hesperia was suggested since they have a great clubhouse and have worked well with us. I called them and reserved Thursday January 7 thru Sunday Jan 10, Please change you records. So why the change? Let me share our attendance history: total rigs / The bumper sticker(s) of the month Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller!
