Steven Barron is temporary CEO. T.J. Moody reported that there is $ in the Passcom account, as 10/31/2017. None required None required PASSCOM President Mike Barron reports that Bob from Simpler Life made a $ donation. That will make $ in the account. Mike Barron is doing a presentation for the city of Calimesa.

2 If you have any pictures you could send him he would appreciate it. He needs them by tomorrow. He would also like to do a presentation to the Banning and Beaumont city council. He is trying to get funds for Passcom. It is very difficult to get things done. AGENCY UPDATES: Passcom Website Dennis Rice reported that there were 337 hits. He passed out a copy of the home page. Please send him announcements to be posted. For the website to be effective people need to participate. He also read a positive comment that was made about the website. He can also recognize contributors. Riverside County EMD Dennis Day reported that they are in recovery mode from the canyon one fire. Canyon two fire impacted more of Anaheim and Orange County area. December and January will be quiet. Class will start in February. Lucy Jones is on the news a lot. The border of Iran and Iraq had a 7.3 earthquake. Level of preparedness changes with each situation. Dennis is working with Laurie in Calimesa on Emergency Preparedness. You are the extension of the message. It is important pass on the training at the meetings. Send Carl flyers to post Cal Fire Chief Chavez reported that District 5 is looking for a venue for a CERT class. There is currently a scam of people claiming to represent Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and looking for donations. The state is now quiet and has had a 2/3 staff reduction. Dec. 4, there may be another staff reduction. When asked if the 747 was cost effective, Chief Chavez answered that it was effective as a tactical resource. CAL Fire is not going to be in Calimesa. City is going independent. When part of Cal fire, you are part of their family Firemen are the greatest heroes. San Gorgonio Hospital Presenter Joey Hunter- there is a state wide exercise on Thursday. The Active Shooter Drill showed they have a lot more work to do. Janet Upchurch is from the Red Cross. It has been a very busy season for the Red Cross. She was sent to help in Texas after Hurricane Harvey. With the Red Cross if you are available to go, they will arrange the plane ride. When you arrive, you are given your assignment. She was sent to Beaumont, TX. It was isolated by water. They had no water service and not a lot of electricity. They also went to Soar Lake Texas. Shelter was in a community center, and it was a community run shelter. Most of the people were rescued by boats. There was a barn in the 2

3 back that held animals. The mayor was running the shelter. It was very heart warming. Everyone needed to talk with the nurse. She stayed for 10 days, and then in a church, then back to the shelter. She was sent to the canyon one fire. She was sent to Corona High School. There were about 20 to 30 people there for 2 days. The fire truck came and told them all the homes were saved. She did not go to the other fires. If you go out you have to commit to two weeks. Health services is different. Red Cross gives you a debit card for $450 for the 2 weeks. Red Cross runs strictly on donations. Blood donation is a source of income. Money does go to the people. Tim Chavez asked Who is in charge of opening a shelter? Dennis Day mentioned the county or city would have a plan. Whoever opens shelter has the cost. Nurse is a position and first aid is a treatment. Make sure you have extra medications for at least 3 days. Hospital has a separated plan for evacuation and availability. MRC- medical reserve corps. Where do blankets and food come from? Red Cross has trailers. 78 trailers around the county. They work 12 hour shifts. Dennis mentioned- VOAD- Beaumont first Thursday every other month. Red Cross has been shorthanded and has trained some others to help. Case workers follow up If you lose everything, you will not be whole again. Commented [DW1]: Do not know what the bad PR is that is going around. Dennis Red Cross CEO has a very high salary- They want to give to a cause, not a CEO. Cindy Barrington House is burned down, how often do you call Red Cross? Chief they ask if they want help. People get so much for their taxes. Anita thanks the Red Cross for all they do. Dennis- Fire for all they do. Mike most volunteer, nor for recognition, but for help. Hard to take bad talk when they are working hard. DAT teams Helps with and gives a debit card $125 per person 2 day stay - Mental health capabilities 3

4 - Case Workers give referral work with many partners - Did a lot of work with the Las Vegas shooting. - Home fire campaign install about 10 fire alarms - Armed Forces - Funeral expenses. She has been deployed over 30 times. Has friends all over. Will be 83 this next birthday. You can t imagine what people go through in a disaster. Firemen help CAL recycle is a debris removal post disasters. Dennis mentioned there is a debris emergency plan. Have prior agreements sorted for recycle, etc. Larry stated he had no idea the depth of disaster planning. Mike Barron stated Lori (Calimesa) is working on updating the 2008 plan. No news on the 60 freeway. The plan is the process. City of Calimesa / President Plantation on the Lakes ROUND TABLE OTHER AGENCY/ORGANIZATION REPORTS Mike Barron reported that he got a new computer (yeah!) John Keith wanted to know if any of the 78 disaster trailers are nearby. There is one in Calimesa that the red cross owns and others throughout the county. The trailers are county owned or Red Cross owned. Solera Dennis Rice- Survey on state of preparedness. ; Solerep.com has results. Most are not prepared and a low percentage took the exam. Plantation on the Lakes Larry Spence said that 30 people participated in a survey. It was very informative. It even had a pet portion. There are people that live there and only 30 participated. SPARC was able to contact people in Cabazon all the way to Yucaipa. They have an exercise every 6 weeks. CERT/SPARC SPARC Fred Johnson is working with Mike to find another speaker. Fred attended a Public Fire expo. Menifee runs many calls and is one of the busiest in the county. There were 25 vendors. They passed out everything. Dennis will contact Fred to arrange one in April. Sam Shoemaker reported they set- up with many organizations. NET Wednesday night had a better response. 2M normal 440-4

(all hospitals within the state) Four Season/ EPP Calimesa Radio Room Four Seasons Maria Garcia report for Anita Worthlin 9 th Annual Veterans Activity Jan. 27 th, Saturday, 10 AM to 1 pm, Daryl Schlicke reports that Lori s attitude has completely changed. -working on antenna Lori has a greater understanding. Mike Mendoza said that he is the cochairman at Four Seasons. They want to reschedule CERT class Plantation on the Lake Larry Goodreau: 30 participated 800 to 900 people came and only 30 participated. SPARC was able to go from Cabazon to Yuaipa. Exercise every 6 months. Serrano Del Vista/CERT Red Cross Steve McGill reported 1 ½ hrs class with about 26 people. First Aid class went over a lot of things. Such as tourniquets, CPR, AED etc. Triage Coordinator ran class (John). Larry attended the class and said it was great. Cindy has a conflict with a work meeting. Also a member of REARS (Riverside Emergency Animal Rescue). Has been to 2 training exercises. Getting back on track since retirement. REARS is the only animal rescue that will be used in Riverside County. Janet Upchurch said animals in shelters are a big problem. Highland Springs Village Fran Flanders said thanks to Dennis for suggesting a small shelter. Dennis will do a presentation for her group. Highland Springs Country Club Shields- walkie talkies work fine. New streets. Will need Dennis s help in future. Please invite Highland Springs to future class with Dennis 5

6 SPARC Larry Williams stated that he is the new coordinator for ARIES. He was appointed Saturday. Communication resources RACEES has to be activated. ARIES is before, organizing for the right now.
