61 Study Committee B5 Annual Meeting And Colloquium Madrid SPAIN October 2007 The Spanish National Committee of CIGRE welcomes Study Committee B5 (Power System Protection and Automation) to hold its 2007 Meeting and associated Colloquium in Madrid The Venue Palacio de Congresos de Madrid, the most experienced convention centre of Spain, has been chosen as venue for the Annual Meeting and Colloquium of CIGRÉ Study Committee B5. It is located in the heart of Madrid, within walking distance of many hotels, restaurants and shops.

62 Its location, accessible by all means of transport, will also facilitate tours to the historical part of Madrid, its sights or museums Study Committee Meeting The Study Committee 34 meeting will be held on Friday October 19, Colloquium The Colloquium will be held on Wednesday and Thursday October The preferential subjects for this meeting will be: 1. New Trends on Bus Bar protection. 2. Acceptable Functional Integration in Substation P&C of Transmission System Protection. 3. Protection of Transmission Lines & Co-ordination of Transmission System Protection Programme The program will extend over the whole week and will allow for the B5 Annual Meeting of Regular Members, Observers, Working Group Convenors, for the two day Colloquium, time for Working Group and Activity Group meetings and for an optional post event tour. The topic will be finalised at the 2006 SC B5 Committee Meeting in Paris Technical Exhibition In association with the Colloquium, a Technical Exhibition on the subject of Protection and Automation Systems will be held Accompanying Persons Tours Two guided visits are organizaed for accompanying persons: Wednesday 17: Historical Madrid Tour, with a unique view of Madrid including, the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor or the Puerta del Sol. Thursday 18: Guided visit to the Museo del Prado and a pleasant walk around the Parque del Retiro.

64 1.1.8 Post Event Tour and Technical Visit It will include a visit to the city of Toledo. Its historical city centre, sits on a craggy rock and almost completely encircled by a wide meander of the Tagus river, with more than 100 monuments. This has led UNESCO to declare Toledo as a "World Heritage City". The tour includes a visit to the Renewable Energies Operation Center, also located in this beautiful city Colloquium Papers Those wishing to offer a paper as a contribution to the Colloquium addressing one of the Preferential Subjects should initially a Synopsis of the proposed paper via their B5 National Committee Member/Observer to reach the Secretary of the Study Committee before 15 January In preparing the Synopsis, the author should observe of the following points: The Preferential Subject around which the paper will be centred should be clearly indicated. The Synopsis should clearly reflect the various points developed in the paper. A Synopsis of at least 500 words is considered adequate and it will be used after the Colloquium on the B5 website. The full contact details of the main author, including an address, must be clearly mentioned. Full guidelines for the presentation of papers at Cigre Sessions are available at The absolute deadline for the receipt of the papers is 31 May Papers are to be forwarded in electronic format, by to the Secretary of Study Committee B5.
