1 10 th February 2015 The Buy Samoa Made- Australia Export Drive will be hosted & launched by the Samoa Government and the Samoa Association of Manufacturers & Exporters (SAME) at Liverpool, Sydney, NSW, Australia during Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 23 rd to the 25 th March The Buy Samoa Australia Campaign follows the resounding success of the Buy Samoa Made- New Zealand Export Drive which took place in Auckland, New Zealand starting November The Buy Samoa Made- New Zealand and Australia export drives- focuses on seeking the support of Samoans in New Zealand and Australia as Ambassadors of Samoa Made Products. Samoans are the best ambassadors- as they know Samoa made products best, and by supporting Samoa Made Products through promoting them to their families; friends; and Australian Businesses, the benefits go directly to Samoa, our families, our villages and people. The Buy Samoa Made is the promotion of Samoa Culture; Its land and its People. The Buy Samoa Made - export drive in New Zealand-focused on appealing to the Samoan Community and New Zealand public to buy Samoa Made Goods - to support their families in Samoa. The campaign has proven successful from the preliminary results of trade with New Zealand after the first 12 months. The preliminary Export results show that the Buy Samoa Made-New Zealand has contributed to increasing exports to New Zealand by more than two-fold. The Buy Samoa New Zealand s target was to increase exports to New Zealand up to 25% per annum over the next 3 years (2014 to 2016). The increase in Samoa Exports to New Zealand from 2013 to 2014 is estimated to increase by 280% - which is considered a great outcome for Samoa. THE SAME- Buy Samoa Made Export Boost Program for Australia-will have as its key objectives as creating awareness of Samoa Made Goods and services and increasing exports from Samoa in the Australian market. 1
2 The project will consist of a Trade Exhibition of Samoa Made Goods & Services at the Mercure Hotel in Liverpool, Sydney on the 23 rd and 24 th March followed by the and the launch of a Permanent Exhibition Centre at the Samoa Consular Office in Sydney, NSW, Australia on the 25 th March Media Publicity & Advertising Campaign will be a major feature leading up to the Trade Show at the Mercure Hotel and the launch of the exhibition centre at the Samoa Consular Office in Liverpool, Sydney. Publicity will take place in Samoa as well as in Australia through Radio; Television; News Media and through community notices. Buy Samoa Made Goods & Services Promotion of Samoa s Latest Export-Sassy Goods & Services Promotion of the Samoan People-its land and culture. To increase export of Samoa made goods & services to the Australian market; to establish a permanent presence of samples and information on Samoa Made Goods & Services at the Samoa Consulate General Office in Sydney NSW; facilitate market contacts; and increase investment in Buy Samoa Made production. Specific Objectives include: 5.1 To Increase awareness in Australia of Samoa Goods & Services that are available for export into the Australian market. 5.2 To Increase Exports of Samoa Made Goods & Service Aim is to increase Samoa s export of goods & services to Australia by at least 25%per annum over the next 3 years. 5.3 Increase investment to enhance Samoa Export Capacity- and to establish network with the Business Community in in Australia, and the Samoan and Pacific Community and the Australian market at large. 5.4 Provide feedback to the Government and Stakeholders in Samoa on areas to build supply capacity to support exports based on the market demand. Following the trade show, the permanent exhibition centre for Samoa Made Products and Services will be launched and established at the Samoa Consulate Office in the Centre of Liverpool, Sydney. 3
4 The permanent display to be established in Sydney-will mirror the one already established at the Samoa House in Auckland New Zealand. The display will show case Export Quality and Capable Products and Businesses targeting the Australian market. Display goods and promotional materials for the trade show that require/suitable for sea-freight shipping must be packed and labelled properly and delivered to the Trans-Am Samoa at Malifa between the 16th and 25th of February Avoid using wood and ensure to have clean cargo to avoid AQUIS problems.
