Kennedy International Airport BY PLANE Rutgers University New Brunswick is located 41 miles from New York City and 66 miles from Philadelphia. There are four airports within 75 miles of the university. Newark Liberty International Airport is the closest geographically and will provide the easiest access to campus. From other airports, you should expect to travel through high traffic areas with tolls. 4 BY TRAIN NJ TRANSIT New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor line provides New Brunswick with both local and express service between New York Penn Station, and Newark and Trenton, New Jersey. The New Brunswick Train Station is located within walking distance of the College Avenue Campus (see map under Navigating Campus page 6) of Rutgers University New Brunswick near the intersection of Route 27 and Easton Avenue. Hotels (page 13) and Campus Bus stops (page 7) are nearby. TRANSPORTATION AMTRAK Amtrak provides limited direct service to the New Brunswick Train Station. However, connections are easily made via New Jersey Transit trains to principal Amtrak stations at MetroPark, New York, and Trenton USA-RAIL BY TAXI New Brunswick Train Station 5 Easton Ave Newark Airport to New Brunswick (one way) approx minutes New York Penn Station to New Brunswick (one way) approx minutes New York Penn Station to New Brunswick (one way) approx. 40 minutes Follow signs to designated taxi areas in all airports. 5 RUTGERS VISITOR CENTER Get started at our Visitor Center on the Busch Campus! The Visitor Center is the hub from which all campus tours and information sessions depart. Then take the A bus one stop to A the Visitor Center. After 9:30 p.m., you can take the H bus to the Student Activities H Center stop and get off to take the A bus one stop to the Visitor Center. A DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE VISITOR CENTER FROM NJ TURNPIKE Turn off at Exit 9, bear right after the toll booths and follow signs s for "Route 18 North New Brunswick." Stay to the left to continue on Route 18 North. Proceed along Route 18 North and bear left to access the express lanes marked "Route 18 North Piscataway." Cross the Raritan River (approximately 3.7 miles from the Turnpike). Take the second exit, marked "Campus Road Rutgers Stadium." Follow the exit around and make the first left onto Sutphen Road. The Visitor Center will be on your right. Parking is located on your left in Lot 48. 4

6 FROM GARDEN STATE PARKWAY Southbound (from northern points) Turn off at Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Follow the "From the New Jersey Turnpike" directions to the Visitor Center. Northbound (from southern points) Turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North. After approximately 24 miles, you will pass the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow the "From the New Jersey Turnpike" directions to the Visitor Center. TRANSPORTATION FROM ROUTE 1 From the North or South: Turn off at the exit marked "Route 18 North New Brunswick." Follow the campus directions in the "From the New Jersey Turnpike" section to the Visitor Center. INTERSTATE FROM ROUTE 287 Turn off at Exit 9 Bound Brook/Highland Park. Proceed East on River Road toward Highland Park. Continue on River Road and you will pass under the overpass for Route 18. Make the next left onto Route 18 North. Proceed up Route 18 to the Campus Road exit ramp on your right. Follow Campus Road and make the first left onto Sutphen Road. The Visitor Center will be on your right with parking directly across the road in Lot 48. 5

7 NAVIGATING CAMPUS Rutgers University New Brunswick is comprised of five residential campuses, with our total area spanning both the towns of New Brunswick and Piscataway. The campus bus system makes navigating the campuses easy. Visitors are welcome to use our buses. NextBus provides real-time campus bus arrival information, updated at regular intervals. You can even use the NextBus service on your mobile device to calculate arrival and wait times. 8 Weekday: Buses arrive every 3 to 9 minutes during peak periods with service from 7 a.m. - 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. Depending on your destination, the average bus ride ranges from 5 to 15 minutes.
