Sunshine Coast A Comprehensive List of Things to Do on the Sunshine Coast Dates: Each consecutive Saturday from 9th Feb to 16th March 2013 GPS Rowing Regattas The GPS Rowing Regattas will be held at Lake Kawana from Saturday 9th February to 16th March 2013 The regatta is one of the state's biggest school sporting events and is expected to attract more than 6000 competitors, old boys, parents and spectators to Lake Kawana. Sportsmans Parade will be closed from 6am 1pm each Saturday. Contact: ph Kellogg s Nutri-Grain Surf Ironman Series - Round 5 Date: Sunday 17th February 2013 The Kellogg s Nutri-Grain Surf Ironman Series and the Ironwoman Series feature the country s elite Surf Life Saving athletes competing in the most gruelling ocean based competition on the planet. The 2012/13 series will be fought out over six rounds at iconic Australian beaches including Surfers Paradise, Portsea, Perth, Coolum and Noosa Heads. The Kellogg s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series will feature 18 athletes and the Ironwoman Series will feature 18. All six races will feature popular formats that test endurance, power, skill and speed and be broadcast nationally on Network Ten. Location: Coolum Beach (Tourism Noosa) Contact: Phone: Non-fixed: Big Band Star To Entertain Coast Jazz Fans Date: Sunday 17th February 2013 British-born singer Craig Martin, who honed his talents playing starring roles in British Theatre Musicals before turning his talents to contemporary swing will delight Sunshine Coast jazz fans on Sunday, February 17. Craig and his ten piece swing band will perform his first show for 2013 and wow audiences at the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club show at the function room of the Currimundi Hotel in Buderim Street. At his last appearance on the Sunshine Coast, Craig received a standing ovation and says this year should be exciting and electric. His interpretation of big band swing is a treat for everyone who loves the crooners and the sound of a big band: The music of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, And Williams and Michael Buble is in safe hands, Craig said. Sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club and co-sponsored by Sunshine FM, Craig Martin will be a show not to miss at the Currimundi Hotel on Sunday, February 17 at 1.30pm. Afro Roots Dance Party will be a night to get groovy, soak up the afro vibes, and help out a good cause! The night will showcase a selection of the Sunshine Coasts best percussionists featuring, Sam Okoth (Samoko), Canta la Tumba, Upbeat Rhythms and special guests.

3 Sam Okoth plays uplifting original tunes that are sure to get your hooves grooving. Raised as a son of a village in Kenya, East Africa, he aims to preserve traditional culture through music and dance. Canta la Tumba, celebrates the cultural song and style of Afro/Latin music, with a repertoire born and influenced by bands such as the Buena Vista Social Club, Afro Cuban All Stars and Santana. The use of rich Latin song, acoustic guitar, double bass $10 Entry from 6.30 pm, Show from 7pm All funds raised go directly towards Community Classrooms Volunteer trip to Siaya Kenya in May, Here, it is our hope to further establish and strengthen a connection with the village of Siaya. This will include, Volunteer work in the School, Building sustainable cooking and waste disposal units, Donating cordless sewing machines, sewing patterns, school materials, children toys, building materials and solar panels. Most importantly, we plan on sharing our modern knowledge of agriculture, permaculture, solar, medicine and much more, whilst learning of their culture and basic togetherness.
