16 CTA funding future Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) regional plan called GoTo Transit plans: Prioritize modernization and improvement of existing infrastructure over extension of network Find innovative revenue sources GoTo 2040 recommends raising gas tax from 19 to 27 cents per gallon, indexed to inflation, with portion devoted to transit. Replacement needed as efficiency increases. GoTo 2040 recommends congestion pricing on tollways to fund transit.
