1 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY EADS CASA is pleased to submit this Response to the Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Armament Division of the on February 14, The Response is structured as follows: Chapter 1: Executive Summary Chapter 2: Company Overview Chapter 3: EADS CASA C-295 Aircraft Definition Chapter 4: Integrated Logistic Support Chapter 5: Price and Financing EADS CASA considers that the C-295 aircraft will provide a modern, cost effective and non-risk solution available to satisfy the transport needs of the Slovak Air Force. 1.2 ANSWER TO THE RFI QUESTIONAIRE 1. Layouts of cargo cabin (space) for paratroop (troop) transport, the largest individual load (vehicles or non-packed/non-palette construction) and layouts for standardized containers. EADS CASA response: See Chapter 1, 1.3 C-295 Standards and Chapter 2 Company Overview. 1.3 C-295 STANDARDS The C-295 military transport aircraft is a cost-effective and low-risk solution available to safeguard the national interests of the Slovak Republic, complying with the current and future needs of the Slovak Air Force, increasing survivability, sustainability and operability. The C-295 is the best value for money for the Slovak taxpayer as a tactical transport aircraft. In this EADS CASA proposal, we will demonstrate an exemplary commitment to best value through our market leading C-295 tactical transport aircraft. We define best Pag 1.3

4 value as rapid, flexible mission support, low acquisition cost, low total ownership cost, and a commitment to endow the with an aircraft that fulfills its mission requirements. 5 A MILITARY PROVEN AIRCRAFT The EADS CASA C-295, is a twin turboprop, fully pressurized tactical transport aircraft. Its design is based on the well-known CN-235, which has earned a worldwide reputation for reliability and supportability in operation with the Armed Forces of more than 25 countries worldwide. The C-295 is being used in assisting operations to /from smaller, unpaved airfields. In operating from remote locations, the C-295 provides timely transportation of troops, supplies or casualties, with direct off-loading to tactical rotary wing transport such as the CH- 47s. The C-295 is a military proven aircraft: In-flight refueling capability NVG compatibility Low IR signature and Radar cross section Complete Self-protection suite: - RWR - Chaff and Flares dispensers - MAWS - Cockpit armor Certified military tactical performance: - 3g maneuvering - STOL technique - Operations on CBR below 4 Pag 1.5

6 The C-295 has been in operation since November 2001, proving its excellent performance and capabilities in the most demanding and extreme conditions. The C-295/CN-235 aircraft are combat proven and have successfully completed missions in hot and high altitude conditions, desert, maritime, and cold/icy conditions. Utilizing the C-295, The Polish AF and Spanish AF have successfully conducted missions in desert/sand conditions in support of the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Chilean Army operates its CN-235 s in support of operations to Antarctica. Customers with a long experience of military operations in desert/sand environments include: Saudi Arabia AF: has successfully operated four CN-235 aircraft since 1987 Jordan AF: operated two CN-235s on lease from Turkish AF for several years. Later, the Jordanian AF ordered two C-295s to perform similar missions (delivered in 2003) Morocco AF: Seven CN-235s in operation since 1990 UAE AF: Seven CN-235s in operation since 1993 Royal Oman Police: Two CN-235s in operation since 1993 Turkey AF/Navy/Coast Guard: 61 CN-235 s Algerian Air Force: Six C-295 in operation since CN-235 operating at Bagram AFB (Afghanistan) Dec. 23, 2004 Pag 1.6

7 Both the C-295 and CN-235 are certified for flying in icing conditions by the FAA. This family of aircraft has a long history of supporting operations in cold and icy climates. Operators with a history of military operations in cold/icy environments include: Republic of Korea AF: 20 CN-235 s since 1993 Chilean Army: Four CN-235 s since 1989 (Including operations to Antarctica) Polish AF: Eight C-295s in operation since 2003 Pakistan AF: Four CN-235s in operation since 2004 C Polish Air Force The C-295 equipment, including avionics, systems, furnishing and roller cargo system, make the aircraft fully NATO compatible. The CN-235 / C-295 aircraft is operating in the following NATO air forces: Spain, France, Turkey, Poland, USA and Portugal (contracted). Pag 1.7

8 1.4 SALES STATUS The C-295 is an enhanced capacity derivative of the well-known EADS CASA CN- 235, the undisputed leader in the light tactical aircraft segment, with more than 250 sales. The CN-235 is in service with military / governmental operators in 24 countries, including Spain, France, Ireland, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Colombia or Chile. Over 90 % of CN-235s orders have been for export. The CN-235 remains in production alongside the C-295. The Spanish Air Force introduced the C-295 into service in November 2001; the Air Forces of Poland and Jordan followed in The Algerian Air Force has already received the six C-295 ordered in Extensive commonality with the CN-235 means the C-295 directly benefits from a solid background of successful operational experience in all types of environments, which already extends to one million flight hours; this is a record that simply cannot be matched by any other medium tactical airlifter.
