PACIFIC AEROSTAR L.L.C. INITIAL AND RECURRENT GROUND & FLIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMS AND SYLLABUS 2005 Pacific Aerostar L.L.C. All Rights Reserved..
AEROSTAR INITIAL AND RECURRENT COURSES INTRODUCTION: THE AEROSTAR FLIGHT TRAINING COURSES ARE DESIGNED TO MEET OR EXCEED THE REQUIREMENTS OF TITLE 14, CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (14 CFR) PART 141, APPENDIX I. THE COURSE IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW EITHER A PRIVATE OR A COMMERCIAL PILOT HOLDING A MULTI-ENGINE LAND CLASS RATING TO TRANSITION OR REMAIN PROFICIENT IN ALL MODELS OF THE AEROSTAR AIRCRAFT. THE PERFORMANCE CRITERIA SPECIFIED IN THE SYLLABUS ARE BASED ON F.A.R. PART 61 COMMERCIAL PILOT STANDARDS AND THE MULTI-ENGINE LAND COMMERCIAL PILOT PRACTICAL TEST STANDARDS HANDBOOK. PRIVATE PILOTS ALSO WILL TRAIN TO THESE STANDARDS. THIS SYLLABUS CONTAINS INTEGRATED GROUND AND FLIGHT TRAINING COURSES THAT ARE TAUGHT CONCURRENTLY. BOTH THE FLIGHT TRAINING AND THE GROUND TRAINING PORTIONS INCLUDE AN END-OF-COURSE FINAL FLIGHT CHECK AND WRITTEN EXAMINATION. THE COURSE ONLY PROVIDES MULTI-ENGINE FLIGHT TRAINING FOR PILOTS WHO POSSESS AN INSTRUMENT RATING. * ALL AEROSTAR TRAINING COURSES HAVE BEEN REVIEWED BY THE MAJOR AVIATION INSURANCE UNDERWRITERS AND APPROVED AS : INSURANCE AUTHORIZED AEROSTAR TRAINING PROGRAMS
GROUND TRAINING THE GROUND TRAINING OBJECTIVE WILL BE TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE NECESSARY AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE FOR HIM TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE AND DETERMINE THE PERFORMANCE LIMITATIONS OF THE AEROSTAR. THE GROUND SCHOOL WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THE FLIGHT SYLLABUS ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE METHOD FOR COURSE UTILIZATION, AS THE ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE IS TAUGHT IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO ITS APPLICATION DURING FLIGHT TRAINING. GROUND LESSONS: PRIOR TO EACH GROUND LESSON THE STUDENT WILL READ AND STUDY THE ASSIGNED TEXTBOOK MATERIAL. THE GROUND LESSONS GENERALLY ARE DIVIDED INTO FOUR SECTIONS: LESSON INTRODUCTION SUBJECT PRESENTATION VIDEO PRESENTATIONS CLASS DISCUSSION
VIDEO PRESENTATIONS: THE VIDEO PRESENTATION WILL PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF ALL AEROSTAR AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS, VARIOUS FLIGHT TOPICS AND TECHNIQUES. DURING THIS VIDEO PRESENTATION, THE STUDENT CAN ENGAGE IN A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION ABOUT THE SUBJECT MATERIAL. AFTER THE VIDEO A DISCUSSION WILL ELABORATE ON THE SUBJECT MATERIAL AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS: AT THE COMPLETION OF THE INITIAL TRANSITION OR RECURRENT GROUND TRAINING PROGRAM THE STUDENT WILL DEMONSTRATE THAT HE HAS THE NECESSARY AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE PRACTICAL TEST STANDARDS HANDBOOK.
FLIGHT TRAINING THE FLIGHT TRAINING SYLLABUS IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR PRIVATE OR COMMERCIAL PILOTS WISHING TO TRANSITION OR REMAIN PROFICIENT IN THE AEROSTAR AIRCRAFT. THE COURSE OBJECTIVE IS TWOFOLD. FIRST THE STUDENT WILL LEARN ALL THE MANEUVERS AND PROCEDURES ASSOCIATED WITH SAFE MULTI-ENGINE, HIGH PERFORMANCE AIRCRAFT FLYING. SECOND, TO INCREASE THE PROFICIENCY, KNOWLEDGE AND CONFIDENCE OF EACH AEROSTAR PILOT SO THAT OVERALL SAFETY WILL BE IMPROVED IN THE OPERATION OF THE AIRCRAFT. ALTHOUGH THE FLIGHT SYLLABUS DESIGNATES A MINIMUM FLIGHT TIME FOR COMPLETION, PACIFIC AEROSTAR S PHILOSOPHY WILL BE TO TRAIN TO PROFICIENCY STANDARDS. ALL FLIGHT TRAINING IS CONDUCTED IN THE ACTUAL AIRCRAFT UNDER THREE PHASES. EACH PHASE PROVIDES AN IMPORTANT SEGMENT OF TRAINING.
PHASE I PHASE I PROVIDES A FOUNDATION FOR TRANSITION INTO THE AEROSTAR, USING STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (SOP), FOLLOWED BY THE INTRODUCTION OF MORE ADVANCED ADDITIONAL AND IRREGULAR FLIGHT PROCEDURES. PHASE II PHASE II BUILDS UPON THE SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE OF PHASE I AND THE INTRODUCTION OF ENGINE-OUT OPERATIONS WITH ADDITIONAL,IRREGULAR AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES SPECIFIC TO THE AEROSTAR. PHASE III PHASE III PROVIDES THE SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE AEROSTAR IN THE IFR ENVIRONMENT. THE STUDENT WILL PERFORM ALL IFR NORMAL AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES INCLUDING INSTRUMENT APPROACHES WITH ONE AND TWO ENGINES OPERATIVE. ADDITIONALLY A REAL TIME LOFT ( LINE ORIENTED FLIGHT TRAINING ) WILL BE CONDUCTED. COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS: THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THE SKILL AND ABILITY FOR ALL THE MANEUVERS AND PROCEDURES AS REQUIRED BY THE COMMERCIAL MULTI-ENGINE PRACTICAL TEST STANDARDS HANDBOOK (PTS). IN ADDITION THE STUDENT MUST MEET THE PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN THE F.A.R S AND/OR THE P.T.S.
