1 Please find attached our current guides to both ocean and air carrier surcharges. While we endeavour to keep you abreast of fluctuations surcharges are levied by carriers at time of shipment and may be subject to change without notification. Oceanfreight ex Asia Vessel rationalisation from the shipping lines combined with container volume increases has resulted in ongoing capacity shortfalls. The industry demand for space continues to outstrip supply. Specific has maintained at all times our policy of canvassing all prime carriers for any available space. We remain confident that our strong relationships with prime carriers will maximise our ability to meet client requirements. At the same time we encourage early bookings to minimise possible delays and ensure target vessels are met. The General Rate Increase 15th March ( listed on attachment) is a direct result of the above circumstances. Specific will continue to liaise with carriers with a view to these first round increases reducing in weeks to come once volumes stabilise. Airfreight ex Asia Recent product launches by both Apple and Samsung have impacted on available air space from China to Australia. Cargo space on both freighter and passenger flights has been severely limited. While we enjoy support from major airline carriers, space is finite and increased demand may see an increase in freight prices in the short term. We encourage you to liaise with our customer service teams for particular shipments. Should you have any queries on the above subject matter please contact our office direct.
