1 SITUATION REPORT # 1 Tropical Wave August 1, 2018 EVENT Tropical Wave DATE OF EVENT: August 1, 2018 SITUATION REPORT NO: #1 DATE: August 2, 2018 TIME: 9:30 NATURE OF EVENT: Tropical Wave which generated torrential rainfall and resulted in landslides and flooding in several areas. AREAS AFFECTED: The Parishes of St. David and St. George were severely affected CASUALITIES: Fatalities 1 male age 32 ACTION(S) TAKEN: NaDMA Press Conference conducted, 1pm August 1, 2018 Public sector workers released at midday August 1, 2018 Private sector were encouraged to release workers at 3 pm A meeting of the National Emergency Advisory Council was held on August 2 at 10:00 a.m. At this meeting the Parishes of St. David and St. George were declared as disaster areas Damage Assessment ongoing Road Clearance/Debris removal ongoing
2 Security Services Activated its Emergency Operations Plan Traffic control carried out Search and Rescue conducted Assisted with road clearance Grenada Airports Authority Two flights were diverted to Barbados Liat and AA Other Flights delayed AA, Liat, Jet Blue and BWIA Operations later returned to normal Prison Activated Emergency plan Assisted with Road Clearance Health Activated Emergency plan virtually Flooding of the Maternity ward at the general hospital was addressed Electricity Electricity was disconnected in a few areas due to flooding and was later restored NAWASA Water supply was shut off in some areas Water supply disrupted in other areas due to broken lines, no major damage reported INITIAL DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: Landslides St. David North: Eleven (11) Belle Isle: 5 Harmony Hall: 1 Thabaide Hill: 1 Cemetery Road: 1 Central St. David: 1 Petite Esperance: 1 Pomme Rose: 1 St. David South: Forty nine (49) Dudmar: 5 Bailles Bacolet: 7 Old Westerhall: 7

Tranquil: 5 Vincennes: 5 La Sagesse: 5 Syracuse: 5 Town of St. George: Two (2) Lowthers Lane: 1 Old Fort Road: 1 St. George North West: Three (3) Cherry Hill: 3 St. George North East: Three (3) Bellevue 2 Mandela Drive 1 St. George South East 7 La Borie: 1 St. Paul s main road 5 Morne Jaloux: 1 South St. George Woburn The Fall edge Access to the Community of Vincennes, St. David has been cut off due to landslides. Broken electrical pole reported and as a result there is no electricity in this area. Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority (GSWMA) Reported one of their vehicles trapped in landslide area in St. David.
4 Flooding Town of St George River Road Tempe Tanteen Sendall Tunnel Queens Park Grenada National Stadium Melville Street St. David South Calivingy La Calome Bacolet La Saggesse South St. George Woburn Cafe Morne Rouge Grand Anse One vehicle was washed away at River Road. The passengers were rescued. Health - General Hospital Maternity Ward - Medical Stations Vincennes currently closed Westerhall Crochu Mt. Camel Perdmontemp Grenada Airport Authority Maintenance and conference facility flooded Her Majesty s Prison Minor leaks Grenada Red Cross Society Slight water damage to warehouse facility
5 Ministry of Social Development Desk for the Elderly Office on Melville Street was damaged Statistics Department Top floor Old NIS Building Melville Street was flooded NAWASA Sewer vents uplifted in town of St. George Broken and burst pipes in several areas Houses affected : Ten (10) - St. George South 2 - St. David North 1 - St. David South 4 - St. George North West 1 - St. George North East 1 - St. George South East 1 Schools affected - St. George s Methodist School - Wesley College - 1 Day Care Center Fallen Trees St. David Thebaide Petite Esperance Hamsted National Disaster Office - Fortinet Fortiswitch 224D was damaged by lightning which disrupted the telephone and internet systems WELFARE/RELIEF: Psychosocial teams to visit affected families SPECIFIC REQUEST/S: None at this time
