Brazil's Location The Brazilian territory has a great extension with wide terrestrial and maritime borders. It is therefore considered a country with continental dimensions.
Regional Divisions The Brazilian territory is divided into states, besides being regionalized, that is, divided into Regions. Brazil is divided into five Regions, this configuration was proposed by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) since 1970, with an amendment in 1988, when Tocantins was dismembered from Goiás, becoming an autonomous state.
Brazilian Northeast The Northeast Region is formed by nine coastal states and occupies an area of 1,554,291,607 km2, equivalent to 18.27% of the Brazilian territory.
Location of Sergipe The State of Sergipe has an area of 21,918,354 km2 that houses 75 municipalities, together, according to the 2010 Population Survey conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 2,068,017 inhabitants. The natives of this state are called sergipanos.
Location of Aracaju The city has approximately 630 thousand inhabitants and is located on the coast of Sergipe. The climate is hot and humid, with rainy season from March to August.
Politics of Sergipe Government's palace With its eclectic style, of neoclassical influence, the Palace originally had all its walls built in stone and lime (of the Cotinguiba) and with hardwood flooring and floor of wide boards of Jequitibá and other woods, in the upper floor. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Palace underwent a major renovation, under the references of European eclecticism, which significantly altered its façade and its interior.
Sport in Sergipe Lourival Batista Stadium The Sergipe government stadium was built during the period of the military dictatorship. The "Batistão", as it is known, was inaugurated on July 9, 1969, in a friendly of the selection Sergipe with the Brazilian national team. Lourival was governor of Sergipe during the military dictatorship between 1967 and 1971 and senator between 1971 and 1995.
Economy of Sergipe The Northeast region accounts for 9% of national production, making it the second largest producing region in the country, with more than 110 thousand hectares cultivated producing about 1.5 million tons. Among the producing states, the highlight is Bahia and Sergipe, which together represent 90% of all planted area. If today we are considered a reference in exploration and production of oil in deep and ultra deep waters, we owe much to the pioneering team of the Guaricema field. In it we tested the first technologies directed to the maritime fields. It was in the field of Guaricema that we first produced on the continental shelf in Another highlight is the Carmópolis field, the largest in the country's reserves volume and the first discovered in the Sergipe-Alagoas sedimentary basin in 1963.
Economy of Sergipe The cultivation of sugarcane in Sergipe is an economic activity with a long history in the Brazilian Northeast. Its production is concentrated in the municipalities of Laranjeiras, Riachuelo, Areia Branca, Siriri, Maruim, Rosario do Catete, Nossa Senhora das Dores and Chapel. Recently, municipalities such as Muribeca, Aquidabã, Japoatã and Neópolis also started to develop the culture. In the last six years, the Sergipe economy has taken a quantitative and qualitative leap. Besides the growth based on the economic evolution of the country and the State, the industrial park was renewed, increasing the total number of companies, as well as the areas of operation. Between 2007 and 2013, the State received a total of 103 companies, which resulted in an investment of more than R$ 723 million and generated more than 11,400 direct jobs.
Tourism Serra de Itabaiana National Park is a conservation unit located in the municipality of Itabaiana, state of Sergipe, Brazil. It also covers areas of the municipalities of Areia Branca, Laranjeiras, Itaporanga d'ajuda and Campo do Brito. It has an area of 7,966 hectares, of which only 3.5% are regularized. It is administered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). In Aracaju, historic monuments contrast with modern buildings, local fairs, large malls with a wide variety of products, boardwalks and sports parks offer good spaces for sportsmen, Regional and contemporary restaurants share customers, sea and rivers live close together, giving a special touch to the city's landscapes.
Tourism Aerial View of the Waterside of Atalaia Aerial View of the City
Tourism The Metropolitan Cathedral is the main church of Aracaju and is located in the Plaza Olímpio Campos, Historic Center of Aracaju, surrounded by the Teófilo Dantas Park. It was built in the 60's and inaugurated in 1875 with the name Mother Church of Our Lady of the Conception. In 1910, it became a Cathedral. In the interior deserves special attention a beautiful dome covered with paintings of century XIX. The Fire Boat is a historical and cultural good made by hand, with a traditional connection with the Junino cycle. Produced exclusively in Estancia. The cultural well in its origin dates from the beginning of the 20th century, created by Chico Surdo.
Culture The Dance of the Ribbon, an ancient manifestation of European origin, settled in our country in the southern states, through immigrants in the last century. This manifestation is a reverence made to the tree after the rigorous European winter. Arrived in Brazil by Pernambuco, it is made in cuscuzeira and has the most crumbling consistency, as its African brother, staying true to its roots. Made with steamed corn salt corn, it takes coconut milk to moisten with or without sugar. If in the mangrove, the crab is one of the crustaceans most disputed by fishermen and scavengers of shellfish and crustaceans, in Aracaju it gains until a footbridge where it parades as the favorite delicacy of sergipanos and tourists that visit the capital.
