TESTING EQUIPMENT TESTING EQUIPMENT Tests of ability of the enclosure to withstand pressure The object of this test is to verify that the enclosure to withstand the pressure of an internal explosion.

Each Test consists of igniting an explosive mixture inside the enclosure and of measuring the pressure developed by the explosion. The mixture shall be ignited by one sparking Plug.

14 TESTING EQUIPMENT TESTING EQUIPMENT Tests of ability of the enclosure to withstand pressure The object of this test is to verify that the enclosure to withstand the pressure of an internal explosion. Determination of Explosion Pressure (Reference Pressure) The reference is the highest value of the maximum smoothed pressure, relative to atmospheric pressure, observed during this test. Each Test consists of igniting an explosive mixture inside the enclosure and of measuring the pressure developed by the explosion. The mixture shall be ignited by one sparking Plug. The pressure developed during the explosion shall be determined and recorded during each test. The location of the sparking plug as well as those of the pressure gauges are left to the discretion of the testing station, to find the combination which produces the highest pressure. Removable gasket or O-rings can be fitted to the enclosure under testing. Explosion Testing Equipment Number of tests for Withstand pressure tests (Explosion tests) Number of tests are different depend on the specifications as follows: CENELEC STANDARD A will be 3 tests with propane gas B will be 3 tests with ethylene gas C will be 3 tests with acetylene gas and 3 tests with hydrogen gas JIS STANDARD d & d3 will be 0 tests with hydrogen gas Test for non-transmission of an internal ignition The same explosive mixture is introduced into the enclosure and the test chamber at atmospheric pressure. This test shall be made five times (for CENELEC) or fifteen times (for JIS). The test result is considered satisfactory if the ignition is not transmitted to the test chamber. Removable gasket or O-rings are to be removed under testing. The explosive mixture gas will be: Hydrogen, Ethylene, Acetylene and Propane 3

This equipment is used to check for water leaks into the enclosures. Water Splash Testign Equipment SXTB ASTH STH 4 Temperature & Humidity Test 6 Falling Weight Impact Test In order to determine safety of explosion protected enclosure against ignition of explosive gases. This equipment(bath) measures temperature of enclosure in the constant temperature room. Room temperature determined and temperature rise to be recorded by the controller outside. The object of this test is to verify that the enclosure to withstand the mechanical strength of cover and body by dropping a steel ball of a specified weight on the weakest surface of cover and body from specified height.
