3 Sports Chairman s Chat Hi all, The games night took place on the 12th and although I would have liked to see a few more people there, the ones that were seemed to enjoy the evening which is what it's all about and well done to the winning team. The winter competitions are virtually completed, any that aren't will be played at 2pm on Saturday 10th April so if you haven't completed your matches by then, please be there on that date at 2pm as the competitions will be played with or without you to bring them to a close. I will be putting up the lists for the summer competitions shortly with the draws and competitions starting at the beginning of May to be completed by the end of August. Paul We ve had a couple of busyish weekends with Jan R s birthday & retirement party, followed by a games night last weekend. Both seemed to go well I m happy to say. We ve had a couple of offers to take on the role of club photographer we ll be happy to accept both as the people concerned (Trevor W and Brian B-W) are happy to work together. Thanks to you both. The role of Site Maintenance overseer remains unfilled so if anyone reading this is still thinking about it please come forward we have lots of people who are able to turn their hands to the various jobs that need doing, we simply need someone to keep an eye on the regular maintenance tasks that we can t afford to forget, like servicing of machinery etc. Most such jobs are done by outside contractors or by members who have the necessary expertise, so whoever is in charge of maintenance doesn t necessarily need to do all of the work themselves. It will be almost Easter by the time this newsletter is published, so we will have a busy weekend looming and the pool, with its new enclosure, will be opening for the season. 4 Hi all, Bookings Bookings/ Caravans The demand for Touring Pitches remains low. Jan Rushton s retirement brought a few extra visitors. Bookings for Easter look healthier. Hopefully as this is only 2 weeks away, the weather will improve. Caravans Again no movement within the Caravan waiting lists. The pitches are still extremely wet and soft. I have managed to accommodate Touring Pitch requests on hard standing to date but the Easter demand will necessitate the use of the grass pitches. Again we are at the mercy of the weather. Reminders please- 26 night Permanent Pitch requirement and Caravan cleaning now that Spring is here. Thanks, Hi everyone, Woodlands Well, the badgers are back in force. The constant rain has not only softened the soil but it has brought the worms to the surface. Any self respecting badger would look upon this as an irresistible feast without having to do much work; resulting in First Glade looking like the battle fields of World War One. Lets hope that when the weather gets drier they will dig further afield. Much work has been done in the woods of late. The ash nursery has been virtually cleared of brambles and said pests burnt. It was hard work and many of us needed the following week to get over the back ache. Clearing and burning has been hard work Heart-felt thanks to all who took part. 6 Hi all, Grounds Firstly may I thank all the helpers in the wood tunnels. A weeks work in 2hours Brilliant and thank you. I am hoping to arrange a date for tree pruning and I will contact those that have volunteered but I am a bit tied up at the moment. Pay Less Tax A correction to the article in last month s newsletter:- The transfer of marriage allowance from one partner to the other is only available to persons born on 6th April 1935 or later. If you were born before 6th April1935, you should already receive this Married Couple s Allowance which is more generous.. The club owns a tool box, it s an aluminium one full of sockets and spanners, or should be. If you have used this box recently please check that all the tools have been put back as some are missing and it s the only good one the club owns. Lastly Bill of the woodlands and I will always want help so if you can volunteer, let us know first if you can, Thanks Peter

8 Hi everyone Welfare I haven't been informed of any new health concerns this month. Let's hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather. It was nice to see Billy and Marie back at the caravan after her operation. They did bring the sunshine with them. Children s Room The kids room is currently closed and out of use whilst the hole in the floor of the TV room is being repaired. Once this has been competed new flooring will be purchased and layed. Thank you to everyone involved in repairing the floor. See you at Easter Sue Membership Hello everyone This month we had one new probationary member join us and Tom came into full membership so welcome to you both. Next month is members meeting and also our meet and greet on the Saturday. All members are welcome so please come along on Saturday 9 th April at 11am to 12 noon. Don t forget the tea and coffee is free but cakes are as priced. We are going for a the 25 th of June for the Queen s birthday bash at TNC. Hopefully the weather will have picked up by then so it can be a tea/garden party. The time will be sorted at the next meeting. It has been suggested that everyone should bring a plate of food, it is not compulsory but it would be great if everyone could make some contribution. Bye for now See you at the club Cath

This has been achieved through financial prudence. In 2014 we managed to reduce our visitors fees from the previous year s level and have kept all fees at that same level since. We have improved our VAT accounting practice such that the fine held over us from May 2013 has been withdrawn; we have negotiated a reduction in our electricity and telecoms costs so helping to keep our overall costs down; we have reduced directors expenses from the 2013 level; and we have been able to embark on a major project and still maintain a healthy financial position. With such diligence I am sure we have a healthy financial future. However, may I remind members that fees are due on 1 st May - not the end of May - and it would help greatly with administration, if you could set up a standing order for payment, for which a mandate form is available in this month s magazine. Also available on the website via the entertainments page. On the mandate form would you please enter your surname first as the banks only print the first 18 characters so we are sometimes unsure who sent the money to us.
