2 Welcome to Heritage Open Days Returning for our ninth year, we are proud to showcase some very special places and spaces open for you to explore and enjoy. With over 2,500 recorded event visits in 2017, Heritage Open Days is the Islands largest FREE festival of heritage and cultural events. This year, as we celebrate Year of Our Island, we take the opportunity to celebrate our Island and the stories connected to it. With October designated as Heritage Month, we have packed the programme with a mix of new sites opening their doors along with the return of firm favourites from previous years highlights include Bridge House in Castletown, a tour of the former internment camp at Onchan & a Celebration of Archibald Knox with Braddan Commissioners. The Manx Museum and National Trust have kindly supported the administration and publicity for Heritage Open Days from their charitable funds and are delighted to continue the opportunity to work alongside the wonderful individuals and volunteers who make this event possible. Thanks again to the knowledgeable and passionate guides who give up their time for free to inspire, educate and highlight the diverse history, culture and architecture the Isle of Man has to offer.
