2 Welcome to our Day Trip Brochure for 2018 Stanley Travel is once again delighted to offer a range of new destinations as well as the popular, good old favourites, operating from March to December, there will be something to tempt every taste. We have listened to ideas suggested by our customers and are always interested to hear of venues you would like us to include in a future programme. Group bookings are welcome on all our trips, if you organise outings for a social group or WI s etc., please contact us. There are group discounts available on most day trips and the organiser goes free on groups of 20+. We can reserve a block of seats for you, giving you the opportunity to confirm interest from your members and then make a firm booking. ll our trips are available to book online at your convenience, or by calling our office on between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Our booking office staff will be only too happy to assist with any queries you may have and payment can be made by debit/credit card or by sending in a cheque. There will be additional ad-hoc trips being added throughout the year for special interest events, these will be added to our website as soon as they are released. Please note that the feeder vehicle may be a coach, minibus or taxi. How to book my day trip? Booking your day trip couldn t be simpler by using one of the following three options. 1. Online via our secure website at You can choose your day trip, pay and print your ticket from this option. 2. Contact our Booking Office in the Bus Station, Stanley by telephoning or by visiting the office in person where our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. 3. Visit one of our booking agents throughout the area. We offer a comprehensive choice of pick up points around the local area. NEW for 2018 is that you can board at our nnfield Plain depot (where the coach departs for the day) and you can park your car securely all day. Toilets are available before departure.

3 March - dmission Not Included - dmission Included SUN 11th Meadowhall Shopping Centre - Sheffield Located near to Sheffield, Meadowhall is home of Yorkshire s largest shopping centre where you can spend time browsing around the many high street shops and maybe buy that special Mother s Day present. 24th Leeds and Leeds Market shopper s paradise... Leeds has been named the best shopping destination in the UK, combining quirky boutiques with high end luxury and big name high street brands. lternatively, you can visit the popular Leeds Kirksdale Market on Vicar Lane, the largest covered in-door market in Europe with over 800 stalls for you to enjoy. Good Friday FRI 30th Whitby Whitby is one of Yorkshire s beautiful seaports and always a customer favourite. Overlooking the sea is the ruined gothic Whitby bbey which was Bram Stoker s inspiration for Dracula, nearby is the Church of St Mary s which can be reached by the 199 steps. 31st B Edinburgh Shopping or Edinburgh Zoo Enjoy a day out in Scotland s fine capital city, dropping off passengers in the centre for those who wish to visit the city. We then proceed onto Edinburgh Zoo. Departing the zoo at 4.30pm and from the city centre at 5.00pm for our journey home.

4 pril Easter Monday MON 2nd WED 4th C 7th E Keswick and Bowness on Windermere We travel to the pretty market town of Keswick in the Lake District s National Park, which has a wide range of attractions for visitors from shops, restaurants, museums to boating trips around Derwent Water. We then continue onto Bowness on Windermere, a town in South Lakes which has become a tourist honeypot due to its position on the banks of Bowness. Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum Barnard Castle is a historic market town set in our very own Durham Dales. You can visit the many quaint antique shops or many of the independent retail shops. In the early afternoon, we continue onto Bowes Museum, a French style chateau built by the late John Bowes in the 19th Century. The museum houses a collection of fine European arts and is one of the most significant Museums outside London. Manchester or the Trafford Centre We head for the city of Manchester where you have the choice of visiting the city centre or alternatively you could visit the magnificent Trafford Centre. We return from the city centre at 4.15pm and the Trafford Centre at 5.00pm. Please Note - there are limited pickups on this trip WED 11th South Lakes Safari Zoo We return to the South Lakes Safari Zoo where you can walk freely amongst many of the animals, hand feed the penguins, giraffes, kangaroos, rhinos, tigers and bears to name but a few. lways a great day out for all the family th Bury Market Bury Market was established in 1444 and has a large Market Hall and extensive outside stalls, selling fruit, flowers, clothing, gifts, hardware and much more. Bury Market is famous for its Black Pudding stalls.

5 pril - dmission Not Included - dmission Included 21st B The Borders Loop Tweed, Teviot and Tea This great day out takes us to Coldstream, a town in the Scottish Borders and home of the Coldstream Guards. fter spending a short time in Coldstream we head along the River Tweed onto Kelso which sits on the junction of the Tweed and the Teviot. You will have a chance to explore this very quaint French style market town before we go onto the Teviot Smokery and Water Gardens. Set on the banks of the River Teviot where afternoon Cream Tea will be served, afterwards there s a chance to stroll through the water gardens before commencing our homeward journey th Harrogate Flower Show Held in the Great Yorkshire Showground the Harrogate Flower Show is regarded as one on the best of its kind in the country, this prestigious event will feature beautiful show gardens, great shopping and the biggest exhibition by florists and flower arrangers in the country th Harrogate Spend the day in the spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, with its historic buildings and verdant gardens; Harrogate is one of Yorkshire s most elegant destinations. May 5th C Wynyard Gardens & Saltburn by the Sea Wynyard Gardens in the Tees Valley is home to over 3000 fragrant David ustin roses, a selection of trees and shrubs which are highlighted with graceful water features and meandering paths. Visit the edible garden, which supplies the Halls Restaurant and the Gardens Cafe. fter lunch we proceed to the seaside town of Saltburn for the remainder of the afternoon Bank Holiday Monday MON 7th Richmond, Reeth and ysgarth Falls Enjoy a leisurely drive to Richmond, a historic Yorkshire Dales Market town, with its Norman Castle, Georgian rchitecture and cobbled street, before continuing onto the village of Reeth in Swaledale. This quirky Saxon settlement is best known to Britain s lead industry. We then proceed onto the ysgarth Falls, a triple flight of waterfalls, surrounded by forest and farm land

6 May 12th Skipton Market with optional Canal Cruise Spend time in North Yorkshire s market town of Skipton, famous for its 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled street. You can visit the market voted the UK s best small outdoor market; before heading to the canal for your afternoon boat trip along a stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Coffee and biscuits will be served on board which is included in the price Skipton Only 19th B Holy Island, Bamburgh & Seahouses Our first stop is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a tidal island off the North East coast where you can follow in the footsteps of the ancient monks who built the Priory almost 1400 years ago. We continue onto the Northumbrian village of Bamburgh famous for its Castle and for the Grace Darling RNLI Museum, which commemorates the life of Victorian Britain s greatest heroine. Later in the day we proceed onto Seahouses, our last stop for today, a seaside fishing town with a working harbour and home to massive seal colonies. Seahouses has plenty of shops and restaurants; perhaps you may want to treat yourself to fish and chips before our journey home th Haverthwaite Steam Train and Lake Cruise We travel to Haverthwaite in Ulverstone where we board the steam train for Lakeside, the southern tip of Lake Windermere. Travelling back in time you can enjoy the view from your carriage. We continue our journey by lake on board a Windermere Pleasure Boat to Waterhead Pier where you rejoin the coach. There will be some free time in mbleside before we travel home Bank Holiday Monday MON 28th WED 30th C Scarborough Scarborough is the original seaside resort with stunning scenery and glorious beaches. There is lots to see and do in Scarborough. You can immerse yourself in history with Scarborough Castle or venture along the sea front and enjoy the sandy beaches, traditional amusements, ice cream parlours and gift shops. There is something to do for everyone! Teeside Princess River Cruise with fternoon Tea Enjoy a tranquil 3.5 hour sail down the River Tees, starting from Castlegate Quay in Stockton passing points of interest such as Preston Park and turning around at Yarm Bridge. fternoon tea will be served with a fresh pot of traditional brew. The mini meal includes finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats

There s plenty to do for all the family from the Pleasure Beach theme park, amusement arcades, The Tower, Stanley Park and the zoo, to the recently refurbished promenade th E Glasgow Shopping We travel to Glasgow which is famed for its culture and people. You can spend your day visiting the wide range of museums and galleries or perhaps enjoy your time browsing around the many shops, cafes and restaurants. Please Note - there are limited pickups on this trip. 16th Settle to Carlisle Railway This day out lets you experience one of the most scenic and impressive railways in the UK. With 73 miles of viaducts, tunnels and the wild scenery of the North Pennines, Eden Valley and Yorkshire Dales. There is lots to see and do in Scarborough. There is something to do for everyone! WED 25th Lightwater Valley We head to Lightwater Valley theme park in North Yorkshire for a action packed day on all the fun rides in the park. It is home to one of Europe s longest rollercoasters The Ultimate th Sunderland ir Show The international air show at Sunderland has established itself as the largest free airshow in the UK. With a massive choice of exciting activities and entertainment on the ground as well as all of the action in the sky, there is something for all the family, young or old!

Where you can enjoy a day riding the Velocity, Kumali, Hero, Mumbo Jumbo, Pterodactyl and many more. lternatively you can discover the many animals in the zoo from tigers to giraffes, or visit the Muddy Duck Farm collection which is a favourite with the children. 11th Whitby Regatta One of the most popular excursions of the year! We head for Whitby Regatta which showcases yacht racing and rowing events and is arguably one of the oldest sea regattas in the world. WED 15th B The Kielder Water and Forest Park Kielder Water and Forest Park brings nature on a grander scale. Home to the biggest manmade lake in Northern Europe and at over 250sq miles, the largest working forest in England

See the lavender maze, Mediterranean Dry Garden, Sensory Garden and many more. In the afternoon we continue onto Haworth, home of the famous Bronte sisters, a beautiful village in Yorkshire WED 22nd Emmerdale Studio Experience and Shopping in Leeds Join us to discover the behind-the-tv-scenes secrets as the Emmerdale Studio Experience showcases the entire lights, camera, action process of creating an episode of Yorkshire s favourite soap. 12 September 1st C Blackpool Illuminations Blackpool s famous Illuminations are switched on for the 135th year this weekend. The world-famous Illuminations need little introduction, attracting some 3m visitors every year. s well as the miles of traditional festoons along the Promenade, there are now extraordinary 3D projection shows on the front of the Blackpool Tower building. This tour leaves the North East one hour later than our usual departures, and leaves Blackpool to return home at 10.00pm giving you time to view the illuminations at your leisure. Please Note - the coach does not travel through the lights on the return. 8th B Edinburgh Shopping or Edinburgh Zoo Enjoy a day out in Scotland s fine capital city, dropping off passengers in the centre, who wish to visit the city. When the cameras stop rolling, the gates are opened as cast and crew down scripts for the weekend to allow you to enjoy an exclusive tour of the popular fictional village. This fully guided walking tour of the exterior set takes around 90 minutes, as it is a working TV set th Pickering 1940s War Time Weekend We return again for this popular day trip, where Pickering s streets come alive with the 1940s war time theme. Dominated by the clifftop ruins of a 13th century bbey, this popular music festival is associated with Bram Stoker s gothic novel, Dracula. 14 November 3rd Bury Market Bury Market was established in 1444 and has a large Market Hall with extensive outside stalls, selling fruit, flowers, clothing, gifts, hardware and much more. Bury Market is famous for its Black Pudding stalls. 10th B Heighley Gate and Boundary Mills Just north of Morpeth, Heighley Gate is an awardwinning garden centre and a great place for a family day out, with indoor and outdoor soft play areas for children, and a variety of shops selling homeware and gifts. In the afternoon it s onto to Boundary Mills where there is an array of high-street fashion and furnishing brands housed in modern shopping complex th B Edinburgh Christmas Markets We visit the capital of Scotland, where you can experience its Christmas Markets along and around Princes Street. You can enjoy the unique shopping experience, with crafters fair, local produce and gastronomic surprises. 24th York and St Nicolas Christmas Fayre One of the biggest and most popular Christmas Fayres in the UK, offering a huge range of stalls selling gifts, crafts and local farm produce. Carol singers, buskers and bands will be entertaining everyone putting you in that festive mood! On occasion it may be necessary to allocate a vehicle smaller or larger than a standard coach. Unaccompanied ren ren under the age of 15 must me accompanied by an adult of at least 18 years of age. ren under 5 years of age By law they must have their own seat to travel in, therefore, we are unable to offer free child seats. We have a policy whereby we do not permit babies in arms. Coach seats have a standard car type seat belt arrangement, so passengers are welcome to bring car seats/boosters. Passenger Conduct Stanley Travel aim as far as possible to ensure our customers have an enjoyable and carefree day trip, as such, you must remember that you are responsible for your own behaviour and hygiene and the effect it may have on others. If you or any member of your party is abusive, disruptive or behaves in a way which could cause damage or injury to others or affect the enjoyment of their trip, our driver or representative has the right to ask you (and/or your party) to leave the vehicle. Offending passengers will not be allowed to re-board, thus ending the contact of travel with ourselves, with no right for a refund or claim of liability against the company.

The Christmas Markets set in approx 10 different locations around the city, each with its own character and atmosphere; no winter is complete withou a wander through the chalet-lined streets of the markets. Please Note - there are limited pickups on this trip. 8th Leeds Christmas Market We travel to Leeds for the popular Christmas Markets, where the streets of Leeds come to life with the Christmas-themed entertainment and lots of stalls selling gifts. last chance to buy that special present! THU 13th D Gilsland Spa Christmas Party We travel to Gilsland in Cumbria for a party at the Gilsland Spa Hotel. rriving at the Spa Hotel for 11.00am. coffee shop will be open upon arrival (this is not included in your package) for anyone requiring refreshments before your day begins. Your party starts at 11.30am with entertainment by the resident compère and continues through until your three course Christmas lunch is served. fter lunch there will be cash bingo until approx 3.30pm and then you will be served complementary tea and coffee, cake and biscuits. Your entertainment will continue until your departure home at 5.00pm Smoking (including e-cigarettes) Smoking is prohibited on all coaches under current UK law. Cancellation We endeavour to operate all of our day trips as advertised. However, if due to less than a minimum number of bookings, we are forced to cancel any day trip, we reserve the right to do so up to two working days prior to departure. ll monies paid by passengers will be refunded or offered another day trip. The Hotel has a purpose built ramp into the hotel and passenger lifts to all floors. Entertainment is provided in the cabaret bar on most nights of your stay. Roselea Hotel warm family welcome awaits you at the Roselea Hotel by its proprietors Denise and Roger, customers have been returning here year after year for the hospitality they receive. Situated on lbert Road and close to the Winter Gardens, Tower and shops, it provides an ideal location for your Blackpool holiday. The hotel has a licensed bar where entertainment is usually provided one night during your stay or you can visit the neighbouring hotels where entertainment is available every night. The Roselea has a limited number of ground floor rooms available. The Kirkstall Hotel n ideal Hotel for those wanting the bed and breakfast option for their holiday. The Kirkstall is situated on Hull Road a short distance from the sea front, Coral Island and a short walk to the Tower and shops. The hotel boasts a well-stocked licensed bar where resident proprietors Jean and Franco have been welcoming our customers to their hotel for many years.

Located at the heart of the city on Great Bridgewater Street near Deansgate, with Manchester Central Convention Centre just around the corner and Oxford Road Station 10 minutes away on foot. There are 10 different Christmas markets scattered around the centre all with their own character and atmosphere, full of special hand crafted gifts and local produce. You will be able to wander through the chalet lined streets of stalls. Maybe try a festive glass of mulled wine and indulge in some foodie treats. Sunday fter a Full English breakfast we depart our hotel and head for the Trafford Centre, situated on the outskirts of Manchester. The Trafford Centre is an iconic retail and leisure destination, famed for its marble malls and opulence. It is home of retail brands and offers the perfect day out with its range of restaurants and leisure attractions. We re-board the coach at 4pm for our journey back to the North East.

Sunday fter our Scottish Breakfast we travel to Scotland s capital, Edinburgh for another day enjoying the Christmas Markets where you will experience an unbeatable festive atmosphere, with the celebrated ice rink and Christmas Markets, the historic capital has Christmas all wrapped up! We depart Edinburgh at approx. 4pm for our journey home.
