A bootcamp with a difference, not only will you learn some sensational new moves, you will benefit from a real dance work out. We include ten hours of classes and workshops but you can dip in and out of as many as you please and take some time to explore the seaside town of Bournemouth.

2 Your Destination, includes sightseeing Sprawling for 7 miles along the southern Dorset coastline, Bournemouth is one of the largest seaside resorts in Britain, famous for its grand seafront and broad sandy beaches. It's part Victorian resort, part modern commercial centre and part mass-market tourist holiday park, where day-trippers and holiday makers rub shoulders with stag and hen parties. Harmony seems to preside amongst Bournemouth's temporary residents though and it s an atmospheric introduction to the world of the British beach holiday, with plenty to keep you occupied, including sunbathing, shopping and water sports by day, and a wealth of bars, clubs and shows to explore by night. Climate and weather Bournemouth enjoys a typical British climate and November is likely to be chilly but may enjoy some late autumn sunshine. Your Accommodation Cliffeside Hotel - Hotel*** (Half Board) (Included) The Cliffeside is ideally positioned overlooking miles of sweeping coastline and golden beaches on Bournemouth s stunning East Cliff. Many of the hotels modern rooms offer panoramic sea views, as does the bar terrace where you can enjoy sipping on your mojito under the sun. You can also experience superb global cuisine, using fresh & locally sourced produce offered by the hotel, or relax in the hotels outdoor swimming pool. As an added bonus you will also be able to enjoy all facilities at the two associate hotels next door. The Suncliff Hotel offers a full indoor leisure complex with a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, table tennis, mini gym and championship sized squash courts, while The Cumberland Bournemouth offers the use of its Bar Ventana to include the lido deck and another outdoor swimming pool to ensure you make the most of your dance and fitness break! Classes and Workshops Your Kizomba course will be six hours long and will cover Kizomba, Semba and Afro-Rhythms. There will be an additional four hours of Bachata classes. All tuition and nightly social events will take place in the hotel. Kizomba emphasizes a very smooth way of dancing with influences of Tango steps, but one of the main differences is that the lower body, the hip, does forward/backwards and circle movements. People dance on the tempo, as well as playing on the off beat and only sometimes using syncopation steps. Dancing kizomba is a unique experience standing really close together, partners move in sensual wavy movement, where leading and being led finds a new dimension. As a dance that is fun but also teaches the basic steps to other related rhythms, kizomba is all about connecting people". Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic and is danced widely all over the world but not identically. The basics to the dance are three-step with a Cuban hip motion, followed by a tap including a hip movement on the 4th beat. The knees should be slightly bent so the performer can sway the hips easier. Generally, most of the dancer's movement is in the lower body up to the hips, and the upper body moves much less. In partnering, the lead can decide whether to perform in open or closed position. Dance moves, or step variety, during performance strongly depends on the music (such as the rhythms played by the different instruments), setting, mood, and interpretation. Unlike Salsa, Bachata dance does not usually include complex turn patterns but they are used more and more as the dance evolves. The leading is done just like in most other social dances, with a pushing and pulling hand and arm communication. Hand and arm communication is better conveyed when most of the movement is performed by the lower body (from waist down); i.e. hips and footwork. Dance Levels Our UK weekends cater for complete beginners as well as for those with a few lessons under their belt, known as "Improvers". There will be a level decider on the first day to ensure that you are in the group most appropriate to your ability and experience. The Learning Experience We have used the term "Boot Camp" for this weekend as we include quite an intense dance syllabus - ten hours in total divided into six of Kizomba and four of Bachata. Of course, it is fine to dip in and out of as many classes as you wish and take some time to explore the local area. However, if you attend all of the classes we anticipate that you will return with a good new repertoire, regardless of your dance ability. Our UK weekends cater for complete beginners as well as for those with a few lessons under their belt, known as "Improvers". 3 your ability and experience. Daily Itinerary This is a provisional itinerary, aiming to give you an idea of what the weekend might look like. Some details may change. For those wishing to practice their Salsa moves late into the night, there are some great local nightclubs. Your Teachers This Kizomba and Bachata Bootcamp is in association with Mambo City. Robert and Jean White work with some of the best Kizomba and Bachata teachers in the UK. Teachers for this weekend will be Simon Lord Bachata and Rico Kizomba Suave. Robert and Jean White of Mambo City: "Our first Salsa experience, was at a night club in Toronto Canada in 1992, where the Salsa night was hosted by Josie Neglia but it wasn t until we returned to London that we decided to take lessons with the first generation of UK Instructors, Xihomara Granados, Nelson Batiste, Ramiro Zapata and Zina. We were first introduced to cross body style dancing by Pedro Gomez and have since gone on to work with and learn different styles from salsa luminaries including Eddie Torres, Nelson Flores (Descarga Latina), Thomas Guerrero (SantoRico), Frankie Martínez and more. Owing to these influences, we have experienced styles ranging from Columbian and Cuban Salsa, to the Cross Body styles "On 1" / "On 2" and Cha Cha Cha. It was in May 1999, on a visit to the first SalsaWeb Convention (which was hosted in Washington DC), that we became inspired to launch Mambo City. Our first class was attended by about 15 of our friends and steadily grew. The following month (November) we got involved in promoting a New York dance group who wanted to come to the UK, led by Luis Zegarra of Fuerza Latina and Ismael Otero of Caribean Soul. This happend by chance, due a promoter who was responsible for organising the event pulling out and this saw the beginning of our work as salsa promoters. We have since organised and promoted numerous events both in the UK and abroad and our salsa congresses attract up to 1000 people" Food and Meals Bournemouth offers wide variety of restaurant choices, from traditional fish and chips on the promenade to popular pasta and pizza chains and top-end dining experiences. Travel by Train Bournemouth is well served by the rail network with two railway stations in the Borough - the main Bournemouth station and Pokesdown to the East. Crosscountry trains provide an excellent train service to and from various locations around the UK. What to Expect in terms of Organisation On Arrival: You will receive a course itinerary with information on location of classes and your teachers. We also include information on the local sights, recommended restaurants and other helpful tips. Before Your Go Health and Fitness: There are no particular health requirements for a dance holiday. However you should be able to dance for at least 2 hours a day in order to be fully able to enjoy the classes. Essential equipment and clothing to bring What to wear for dancing: We recommend that you bring shoes with a leather sole for the dance classes and the evenings. Your shoes should be comfortable and supportive. Wear lightweight cotton socks to avoid sweaty and blistered feet! Wear comfortable loose clothing for the classes. At Your Destination Things to do in Bournemouth 1. The Pier to Pier walk. Start at either Bournemouth or Boscombe Pier and finish at the other. Enjoy the scenic stroll along the promenade and treat yourself to coffee and cake at one of the many cafes, restaurants or hotels at either end. 2. Whatever the season, enjoy an expert-guided walk through Bournemouth's many parks and gardens. Learn about flowers, insects, birds and animals that inhabit the diverse countryside.
