The Municipality of Kincardine reserves the right to terminate memberships without refunds for time lost. 14 ADVANCED TRAINING & COURSES BRONZE MEDALLION The Bronze Medallion course develops physical fitness, decision-making and judgement skills for water rescue. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. PREREQUISITE: 13 Years Old OR Bronze Star WHEN Spring 2018 COST $ BRONZE CROSS The Bronze Cross course teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding. It includes the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork and the use of special equipment. An introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. PREREQUISITE: 14 Years Old, Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid WHEN Spring 2018 COST $ (Includes Exam Fee) LIFESAVING INSTRUCTOR COURSE This course explores the various programs of the lifesaving society including: Rookie, Ranger, Star Patrol, as well as teaching Bronze Star, Medallion and Cross. PREREQUISITE: 16 years old and Bronze Cross WHEN April 6, 7, & 8 Friday: 6:00pm - 10:00pm Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 6:00pm COST $ BRONZE STAR The Bronze Star course is an excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Participants work on problem solving, decision making skills and develop water smart confidence. They learn CPR and the lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifesaver. PREREQUISITE: 11 Years Old. Bronze Star is an optional course geared for swimmers who have completed all other swimming levels but are not yet old enough to take Bronze Medallion. The course is 40 hours in length and includes scanning techniques, physical principles, victim management, lifeguard and the law, an introduction to filtration systems and pool chemicals. In order to complete the course, candidates must perform a timed swim (400m in 10 minutes), a 50m sprint in 60 seconds, 15m underwater swim, retrieve a 20lb brick from the bottom of the pool in 40 seconds and recover a submerged victim with a 25m approach and tow in 90 seconds. 100% attendance is mandatory to complete the course. Please notify the Camp Coordinator if this changes throughout the day. WHAT TO BRING? Please bring; Peanut-free lunch and snacks for each day, reusable water bottle, bathing suit and towel, change of clothes (highly recommended for Munchkins), and sunscreen. MEDICAL INFORMATION We ask that all medical information be provided at the time of registration on the Participant Information Sheet. SAFE ARRIVAL PROGRAM Safety is our number one priority at camp! If you know your child will be late or absent please notify the Camp Coordinator. Every absent camper will receive a phone call home daily if they are absent (without notification). IMPORTANT CAMP INFO AGE REQUIREMENTS & SUPERVISION Campers must be 4 years of age by their first day of camp. All participants must be fully toilet trained by the start of camp. The track is free to use however donations are welcome in the donation box located in the foyer of the track. Registration for this event opens Jan. 1 at 10:00 AM through Active.com The KWT is a non-profit event supporting the Kincardine Community Living Housing Project. Open to females 16 & over, the KWT features a 375m swim, 12k bike & 3k run. The event is a sell out every year. Our focus is with beginner athletes who may have never completed a triathlon before.
