2 LABOUR DAY WEEKEND August 31-September 3rd A few events that are worth visiting for the whole family: 1. Toronto International Buskerfest for Epilepsy Performers of all types magicians, jugglers, Ariel artists and more will entertain and delight both the young and old. Also at the same venue will be the Mac & Cheese Festival! Who doesn t like comfort food as the weather starts to chill? A great opportunity to try a different take on the traditional dish with funds raised supporting Epilepsy awareness. Toronto Rib, Bacon & BBQ Fest Food, music, midway rides. Rock climbing, face painting and live music. Come see and taste. 3 FALL FESTIVAL AT RIVERDALE FARM & CABBAGETOWN FESTIVAL The festival includes a corn roast, pancake breakfast, face painting, and Meet the Farmer demos and other activities. Wheel barrel races, cow flap toss. Don t know what a cow flap toss is? Come and find out! For a full day of fun, you can then visit the Cabbagetown Festival for music, kids bouncy rides, and music. FREE! When: September 8-9, 2018, 9:30am-5pm Where: Riverdale Farm, 201 Winchester Street Price Range: FREE admission, $1.50 corn on the cob while they last, Sunday pancake breakfast $ Phone: Website: - Website: CRUISIN FOR A CURE For those who like cars of any kind, but especially cruisin or hot rod type vehicles, visiting this car show is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday with friends and family. Kids for sure will love the cars! The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. Men over 40 years can have a simple, free PSA blood test to help find cancer early in men with no symptoms. Stay Healthy! 4 TIM HORTON S SOUTH SIDE SHUFFLE Blues & Jazz festival held annually right by the Lake. Enjoy music and visit the special military tribute painting done by a Veteran in honour of those who gave up their lives in Afghanistan. In addition to the larger music events at the Park, there is a street party with lots of music all along the Lakeshore between the Credit River and Hurontario. If you like music, this is a great event! When: September 7-9, 2018 Where: Port Credit Memorial Park, 40 Lakeshore Road E. Price Range: FREE street party on Saturday; Park admission $10+ - Phone: Website: CELTIC ISLAND (CENTRE ISLAND) DANCE & MUSIC FESTIVAL If you haven t been to Centre Island in a while, this is a great opportunity to visit while there is a special event on. The St. Patrick s Parade Society of Toronto is hosting a celebration of Celtic music with both traditional and modern dance music. The fee includes children s activities, food (while it lasts!) and music. Tickets can be purchased in advance online. 5 ARTSCAPE WYCHWOOD BARNS - GARLIC FESTIVAL The 8th Annual Toronto Garlic Festival is back at Artscape Wychwood Barns! The festival features Ontario farmers selling garlic and chefs cooking with garlic. Taste delicious garlic-inspired food and desserts and find interesting garlic-themed products while listening to live music, enjoying craft beer and wine, participating in art workshops, cooking demos, fascinating talks, a virtual reality farm tour, film screenings and more! If farmers markets are more your style, every Saturday you can visit the Barns for fresh fruits and veggies. In keeping with the animal theme, did you notice the dogs in the fountain? This is their first dog-friendly walking tour so it should be fun! Preregistration is required if bringing your dog. 6 THE WORD ON THE STREET book and magazine festival This is the World s Largest Bookstore! If you love reading, then this is the event for you! Over 200 authors, speakers and artists will be at the event. The marketplace is divided in to sections, with kids lit and activity tent separated from the author speakers tent. A map is on the website. Food vendors on site. Buy a book, some food and then sit for a bit and enjoy the waterfront! 7 FALL FAIRS Who doesn t like a Fall Fair? They re a great way to celebrate the change of seasons, have fun and learn a bit about agriculture and livestock at the same time. Petting zoos, Milking demos, Horse barrel racing. Oh My! Then there are the fruit and vegetable competitions. Maybe purchase a bale or two of hay and corn stalks to decorate your front porch. 8 ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM WALKS Volunteers of the ROM organize various walks throughout the City that have historical significance, while putting their own spin on them to make the walks enjoyable for all.
