Days 3 & 4: Boston - White Mountains (64 miles) Leave Boston and travel via the historic coastal town of Salem en-route to the scenic White Mountains of New Hampshire. The area offers many distractions including the ascent of Mount Washington, factory outlet shopping in North Conway and tranquil cruises in the Lakes Region. Day 5: White Mountains - Northern Vermont (30 miles) Travel along the scenic Kancamagus Highway, an old trading route, into Vermont. Treat yourself to a tour of the Ben & Jerry s ice cream factory and maybe a spot of lunch in the university town of Burlington. Day 6: Northern Vermont - Lake Placid (35 miles) Cross Lake Champlain by bridge or by ferry this morning, and climb into New York s stunning Adirondack Mountains for an overnight stay in the ski resort of Lake Placid. Days 7 & 8: Lake Placid - Niagara Falls (375 miles) Today s long drive takes you to spectacular Niagara Falls. This world-renowned icon is created by the sudden drop of the Niagara River, and forms the border between the USA and Canada. Days 9 & 0: Niagara - Sturbridge (395 miles) Rise early and set off on your journey along the edge of the New York Finger Lakes region. You will travel past the foothills of the Adirondacks, before crossing the Hudson River and arriving into Massachusetts Berkshire Hills. Your second day can be spent exploring Old Sturbridge. Days & : Sturbridge - Newport (7 miles) Mystic Seaport, America s largest maritime museum, is definitely worth a stop as you pass through Connecticut en-route to Newport where you enjoy a two-night stay. Catch some rays on one of three beaches, or visit the well-preserved waterfront. Being the summer playground of some of America s wealthiest society families, ornate mansions were built here along Ten-Mile Drive, and many, including the famed Breakers, are open to visitors. Days 3 & 4: Newport - Cape Cod (75 miles) Today you will make the short journey to the fabulous summer resort area of Cape Cod.
