11 U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates 56 campgrounds with over 3,000 campsites at eight lakes within the State of Georgia. Typical campsites include electric/water hookups, paved & level impact sites, grill, fire ring, picnic table and many have laundry facilities. Reservations: Toll Free Allatoona Lake: A gorgeous 12,000-acre lake nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, on I-75, 30 miles north of Atlanta. Enjoy picnicking, camping, hunting, fishing, swimming and other water sports Carters Lake: Nestled at the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains, its rugged shoreline and deep clear waters invite you to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities found here. Whether you come in search of a campsite, a day at the beach, good fishing, or boating, you will be delighted with your visit to Carters Lake Hartwell Lake: The 56,000-acre Lake borders Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. It is one of the largest lakes in the Southeastern United States. I-85 provides easy access to camping, fishing, picnicking and boating facilities J. Strom Thurmond Lake: The largest Corps of Engineers Lake east of the Mississippi River, J. Strom Thurmond Lake covers 70,000 acres and has nearly 1,200 miles of shoreline. Located 21 miles north of Augusta, Georgia, the Lake offers a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities. Fishing, boating, camping, swimming and sightseeing are some of the more popular activities Lake Seminole: Located on the Georgia/Florida border, Lake Seminole is blessed with natural beauty. A visit to Lake Seminole provides a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities - it is a great place to fish, camp, boat, picnic or sightsee Lake Sidney Lanier: Nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains and nurtured by the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers, Lake Sidney Lanier is one of America's favorite lakes. Its proximity to Atlanta and a well-developed road network provide outdoor recreation enthusiasts with easy access to camping, boating, swimming, fishing and picnicking facilities Lakes Walter F. George and G.W. Andrews: Lake Walter F. George, sometimes referred to as Lake Eufaula, extends 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River and borders the states of Alabama and Georgia. With 640 miles of shoreline, the Lake offers plenty of room for all your favorite camping, outdoor and water related activities. Lake G.W. Andrews is located just south of the Walter F. George Lock & Dam West Point Lake: The Lake extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River, just north of West Point, Georgia. With more than 500 miles of shoreline and surrounded by forests and fields on the Alabama-Georgia state line, West Point Lake provides excellent fishing, camping and many other recreational opportunities
