5 About Tango Fire German Cornejo (choreographer and lead dancer) German Cornejo was born in Zárate, Buenos Aires Province in At the age of 10 he started studying Tango, and by 15 he obtained a degree from Gatell Conservatory of Dance with the honorable title of Master of Tango. In the following years he broadened his skills by studying classical and contemporary ballet, jazz and acrobatic techniques and qualified as a master of choreographic composition at the National Institute of Arts in Argnetina. Cornejo studied under several teachers, however, the most important and influential was Nélida Rodriguez, whom he refers to as his artistic Godmother. She was one of the first ballerinas of the legendary Tango Argentino and a star who succeeded on Broadway in the 1980s. She imparted to him not only her knowledge of dance but also the yeites. (This word comes from the early 20th century language of Tango known as Lunfardo meaning the secrets of the Tango steps. ) Cornejo won the Gold New Talent prize and the Competition of Gold Dance in the wellknown TV show Susana Gimenez hosted by the popular Argentine star and broadcast by TELEFE. After seven gold medals obtained in a series of Contests for Youth in Buenos Aires Province, and more than 20 first prizes at national level, Cornejo became World Champion of Tango in He has performed at many famous Tango houses in Buenos Aires including Mambo, Chiquin Buenos Aires and El Viejo Almacén. Cornejo has conducted dance demonstrations at some of the most important milongas in Buenos Aires; La Viruta, Porteño and Bailarín, Parakultural and Confitería Ideal. He has performed on some of the top rated TV shows in South America: Susana Gimenez, Showmatch, La Noche del 10 hosted by Diego A. Maradona, Desayuno, Por Siempre Tango, Mp3
6 Musica del Tercer Milenio, Afectos Especiales; and he has appeared in TV shows around the world: Por el Mundo, Programa do Jó (Brazil), The CW11 Morning News (U.S.), Fox News (U.S.), Good Day New York! (New York), Espejo Público (Madrid), Televisión de Cataluña (Barcelona) and Sky News (London). Cornejo was a dancer in the production Bien de Tango with the Orchestra El Arranque, Vamos al Tango with Osvaldo Berlingeri (which obtained four Starfish prizes), El Viejo Almacén Brazilian Tour together with Ariel Spandrio s Orchestra and Tango por La Igualdad. He joined the Tango Fire Company in 2006 as assistant choreographer of the group tangos and is lead dancer of the company. In 2006, he traveled Japan extensively, performing Buenos Tangos under musical director Fabio Hager, and in 2008, toured there with Tango Dance Premium with Fernando Marzán s Orchestra. He has performed at many festivals including VI International Tango Festival (Argentina), I Santiago International Tango Festival (Chile), Tango Buenos Aires 2011 (Argentina) and at the festival Grec 2011 in Barcelona. Cornejo was choreographer for Mission Tango under the musical direction of Lisandro Adrover. He also performed for the President of Vietnam when he visited Argentina with the dance group Sentimientos Tangueros, under his own direction. In 2008, Cornejo was paid tribute to in the show Evocacion at the Coliseum Theatre by the Department of Culture of Zárate, his hometown, for his outstanding achievements. He has toured internationally since 2006, performing in Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Greece, Canada, Korea, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, Chile, Singapore, New Zealand and extensively throughout U.S., Brazil, United Kingdom, Spain, Netherlands, Australia, China and Japan. Cornejo is regarded as one of the best teachers of show tango in Buenos Aires with many of his students reaching top positions in the finals in the Tango World Cup in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and In August 2011, Cornejo trained and choreographed the winners and the runners up of the World Tango Championships. German Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi (dancers) German Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi studied tango from the age of 10 and 16, respectively. They learned classical, contemporary dance, jazz ballet, acrobatics and tango with many of Argentina s most respected teachers. Cornejo and Galeassi have been World Tango Champions in 2005 and 2003, respectively. They have participated on top-rated TV shows in Argentina; Susana Giménez, Almorzando with Mirtha Legrand, Showmatch and La Noche del 10. They have performed at famous Tango houses and milongas in Buenos Aires, Café Tortoni, Esquina Homero Manzi, Chiquin, Faena Hotel + Universe, El Viejo Almacén, La Viruta, Porteño and Bailarín, Parakultural and Confitería Ideal. Cornejo appeared in Vamos al Tango directed by Osvaldo Berlingeri, Bien de Tango with the orchestra El Arranque, and he was guest star in Tango Por La Igualdad. Galeassi appeared in Tango Passion under the musical direction of the renowned Sexteto Mayor, Tango Seduction and she starred in the remake of legendary Tango Argentino. Both Cornejo and Galeassi traveled throughout Japan with Buenos Tangos directed by Fabio Hager, and Tango Dance Premium with the Fernando Marzan s Orchestra (Galeassi was the choreographer of the show). They have toured internationally since 2003 performing in Latin America, Europe, Africa, Oceania and extensively throughout Asia, United Kingdom and North America. In 2013, they starred in Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui s production Milonga, which toured Europe extensively. Cornejo has been with Tango Fire Company since 2006, and Galeassi since 2011.
7 Mauricio Celis and Ines Cuesta (dancers) Both Ines Cuesta and Mauricio Celis studied different styles of dance before they began dancing tango together in They regularly work in important tango houses in Buenos Aires, Cafe Tortoni, El Querandi, Taconeando, Cambalache and Esquina Carlos Gardel. In Argentina they have participated in tango performances in hotels, theatres and on television. Dancing in many acclaimed shows Tango Mitos, Tango Desire, Carlos Buono Show and Tango Buenos Aires they have toured around the world extensively including South America, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, United Kingdom, United States and Canada. Cuesta and Celis joined the Tango Fire Company in Sebastian Alvarez and Victoria Saudelli (dancers) Sebastian Alvarez and Victoria Saudelli started dancing together in They are regular guests on popular Argentine TV programs and in the luxury hotels of Buenos Aires. Dancing in the prestigious tango houses of Buenos Aires including the Hilton, Dos Meses and Esquina Carlos Gardel, they have become Argentina s sweethearts of tango. Alvarez and Saudelli have toured extensively internationally performing in Egypt, Spain, U.S., United Kingdom, Russia and extensively throughout Central and South America. They joined the Tango Fire Company in Gonzalo Cuello and Melody Cellatti (dancers) Gonzalo Cuello and Melody Cellatti have studied with Argentina s master tango teachers Carlos Perez, Roberto Herrera, Mario Morales and Miguel Angel Zoto and danced in the best Buenos Aires tango houses Piazzolla Tango, La Ventana, Che Tango and Tango Porteño. Cellatti was Stage Tango World Champion in They have made a name for themselves touring internationally with different Tango companies Tango x 2, Tango a Tierra and Tango Origin Japan. Cuello and Cellatti have performed in the most important theatres around the world touring Italy, United Kingdom, United States, Switzerland Asia and South America. Cellatti has been with the Tango Fire company since 2010, and Cuello since Marcos Esteban Roberts and Louise Junqueira Malucelli (dancers) Marcos Esteban Roberts and Louise Junqueira Malucelli began dancing tango professionally in 2005 as members of Ballet Mora Godoy in Buenos Aires. Esteban Roberts performed in the popular Tango show Tanguera and together they joined Bien de Tango, Tangorama, Puerto Buenos Aires, Tango Encounters, Tango Seduction, Bien Argentin and Argentine Bicentennial show at the Stade de France (Paris) with Walter Rios where they were assistant directors and lead dancers. They have toured extensively around the world performing in Brazil, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Bosnia, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Czech Republic. They both joined Tango Fire Company in Jesus Hidalgo (singer) Jesus Hidalgo started singing lessons with Jorge Monaco at the age of 13. He won many solo competitions which enabled him to tour Europe. He learned from Emilio Balcarce and Walter Rivers who were both a great influence on his career touring extensively with the Walter Rivers orchestra. He was soloist with the orchestra of the School of Tango in Buenos Aires and has performed at the Colon Theatre in Buenos Aires. Hidalgo has toured extensively in Japan, Spain, Brazil and Italy. In 2008, he was featured on a version of the Argentine National Anthem with Mercedes Sosa. In the first half of 2010 he was featured as a soloist in the International Festival of Tango in Granada, Spain and the International Festival of Argentine Tango in Rome, Italy. Hidalgo joined the Tango Fire Company of Buenos Aires in early 2010.
8 About the band Quarteto Fuego Matias Feigin (piano) Pianist, arranger and composer. Matias Feigin began his piano studies in popular music with Gabriel Mourelos. He then studied classical music with Antonio De Raco and Nilda Somma. Presently he is studying piano at the Beethoven Conservatory under the direction of the legendary Pia Sebastiani. He has been musical director of different bands in Argentina including Tangabile. He is a member of Estacion Gotan, a government cultural project. Feigin performs at the most important theatres and tango houses in Buenos Aires Cafe Tortoni, Piazzolla Tango, Taconeando, Lola Membrives Theatre and Broadway Theatre, and with renowned artists as Alberto Podestá, Juan Carlos Godoy and Virgina Luque. He has toured internationally including U.S., Spain, Chile and Uruguay. Estefani Corsini (violin) Estefani Corsini studied violin at the Conservatorio Provincial de General San Martin with Andres Espina, Norberto Garcia and Curt Bartkowski. She has been a member of many orchestras Sinfonietta Martha Argerich and Camerata of Mercosur (performing in Argentina and in other countries); Theatre Margarita Xirgu s Camerata; Junior Symphonic of Hurlingham; Junior Symphonic of Gral. San Martín; String Orchestra Humberto Carfi; and Chamber Orchestra Jaume Pahissa of Casal de Cataluña. At present, she is a member of the Symphonic Orchestra of General San Martin, Orquesta Tipica Criolla, De Rojo Carmesi Sextet and Tango Mas Tango Quintet. She performs in renowned tango houses Taconeando and El Viejo Almacen, and in tango shows Tango Seduction and Buenos Aires Pasion de Tango. She has also performed in many different countries such as Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Cyprus and Israel. Clemente Carrascal (bandoneon) Clemente Carrascal studied at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory under the tutoring of the great Rodolfo Daluisio teacher and old vanguard music artist and with many of the most important teachers including Nestor Marconi and Julio Pane. He was a member of the prestigious Tenth Formation of the Emilio Balcarce Tango School. Carrascal has worked at venues with major International reputation in Tango and amongst his first teachers were Ernesto Franco, Victor Lavallen, Osvaldo Piro and Mauricio Marcelli. He has performed in several distinguished orchestras Juan Darienzo, Bien Pulenta Quartett, Julian Hermida Quintett, Alejandro Ziegler Quartet and Typical Orchestra Sans Souci, and has been featured as a guest artist in numerous tango houses in Buenos Aires Michelangelo, Gala Tango, La Ventana and the mythical Tortoni Café. Carrascal has participated at the Patagonian Festival of Tango in Bariloche (Argentina) and the International Tango Festival of Porto Alegre (Brazil). Facundo Benavidez (contrabass) Facundo Benavidez was born in Buenos Aires in He trained at the Conservatory Manuel de Falla and Juan José Castro, and studied composition and arrangements with Roberto Pansera and bass with Daniel Cucci and Pablo Chaile. He has served as music teacher for the General Directorate of schools of the province of Buenos Aires. Benavidez performed in Buenos Aires emblematic rooms La Cumparsita, Boca Tango, Esquina Tango, Candilejas and Bar Sur. He accompanied artists such as Alberto Podestá, Roberto Pansera, Juan Carlos Godoy, Enrique Dumas, María Garay, Abel Cordoba and Alberto Bianco. He has toured with various formations and tango orchestras of Argentina (with the group Silvio Soldan and the Stars of Tango), Chile, Bolivia (under the direction of maestro Adolfo Gomez), Colombia (Tango Orchestra Medellin) and Japan (Hugo Pagano Quartet).
