Singular Lastarria Hotel (B) DAY 4 - THURSDAY 16 MARCH SANTIAGO DE CHILE-GUAYAQUIL This morning following breakfast and a free morning we will transfer to Santiago airport for our flight to Guayaquil in Ecuador, the most densely populated city in the country. On arrival into Guayaquil, you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel. Wyndham Hotel (B) DAY 5 - FRIDAY 17 MARCH GUAYAQUIL Today s sightseeing includes the main attractions of the Port of Guayaquil, starting with the Centennial Plaza that honours the Heroes of Guayaquil s independence, and then along 9th of October Boulevard to the heart of the business district of the city with the Plaza of the Administration and the striking Government and Municipal Buildings. A short stroll takes us to the famous Moorish Clock Tower and Bolívar Park, with an equestrian statue of South America s liberator, Simón Bolívar. Wyndham Hotel (B) DAY 6 - SATURDAY 18 MARCH TREN CRUCERO RAILWAY Today we embark on our 4day/3night Rail experience aboard Tren Crucero. A restored steam locomotive will pull the train through stunning landscapes of snow-capped mountains, coastal plantations of bananas, sugar cane and rice as it makes its way to Bucay. In Bucay we visit the San Rafael ranch for lunch. Later we explore a Shuar community, which migrated years ago from the Amazon basin to the Coast. The community will share their ancestral customs and traditions. D Franco Lodge (BLD) DAY 7 - SUNDAY 19 MARCH BUCAY - RIOBAMBA Today will be the starting point of our dramatic ascent into the Andes. Thanks to a series of zig-zags and horseshoe bends (in just 80km) the train climbs over 9,700ft (2,960m), offering passengers fantastic views, especially from the Observation Car. There will be a short stop at Sibambe viewpoint, from where one can appreciate the major engineering achievement that led engineers to call this railway - the most difficult in the world, before we continue to the renowned Devil s Nose. As we arrive in Guamote, lunch is taken after which, we will visit the town. We also visit Inti Sisa and the Balbanera church before continuing to Riobamba. Abraspungo Hacienda (BLD) DAY 8 - MONDAY 20 MARCH RIOBAMBA-URBINA-LATACUNGA-LASSO After breakfast our coach takes us to Urbina, the highest station in the country. Here we meet the last ice-trader, who like his father and grandfather before him, uses a donkey to travel to the slopes of the Chimborazo Volcano to dig ice from the glacier to sell to the vendors in the villages and towns. Next the train takes us to Ambato for lunch, served at the Roka Plaza hotel - an ancient colonial house. Later we return to the train to travel to Cunchibamba where we explore a rose plantation and learn about the worldrenowned Ecuadorian roses. After this visit, we continue our journey by train from Cunchibamba to Latacunga. From here we will take the coach to Lasso where the local community dancers perform an indigenous dance. La Cienega Hacienda (BLD) DAY 9 - TUESDAY 21 MARCH LASSO-COTOPAXI NAT. PARK - QUITO This is the final day of this rail journey. We travel by coach across the Pan-American Highway to Cotopaxi National Park. You have the opportunity to walk around the Limpiopungo glacial lake, surrounded by wonderful scenery. Cotopaxi is an important shelter for a variety of Andean fauna, gulls, deer, wolves, the unique bear of South America and the magnificent Andean Condor. Our journey continues to San Agustin del Callo Hacienda for a delicious traditional lunch before we continue by coach to Quito where we are transferred to our hotel. Patio Andalus Hotel (BL) DAY 10 - WEDNESDAY 22 MARCH QUITO Today we will have a guided sightseeing of the Old city. Starting with Guapulo, LaCompania churches and San Francisco Monastery, then continue to the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, then to El Panecillo Hill with the statue of the Virgin Mary where you can appreciate the view of the entire city. We will then be visiting the Equatorial Monument for a visit to the Ethnographic Museum and a chance to stand in the two hemispheres at once. We then enjoy lunch and return to our hotel. Patio Andalus Hotel (BL) DAY 11 - THURSDAY 23 MARCH QUITO-LIMA-CUZCO This morning we are met by our guide and transferred to Quito airport for our flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival at Cuzco airport we are met by our guide and transferred by coach to our hotel in the Sacred Valley. The spectacular 2- hour drive shows why the Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key-area of settlement to the Incas. Its agreeable climate and fertile plains make a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness (B) DAY 12 - FRIDAY 24 MARCH SACRED VALLEY Today we will discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, starting on the Inca s Balcony, in Chinchero - a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelve families still preserve their traditional costumes, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colours for their textiles. Later, we will proceed to Moray, an impressive pre-inca greenhouse. Following lunch at a local restaurant we visit Ollantaytambo - one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire. Very well known for its andenes (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress that also served as a temple. Enjoy the cobblestone streets that have been continuously utilised since the 13th century. Next we will return to our hotel. Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness (BL) DAY 12 - SATURDAY 25 MARCH SACRED VALLEY MACHU PICCHU This morning we transfer to Ollantaytambo railway station where we board the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes. Leaving the station the railway enters the beginnings of a gorge, which then grows narrower and deeper. The vegetation grows more prolific before arriving at Aguas Calientes station, 1.5 kilometres below Machu Picchu. Today your main luggage will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco and you will be required to pack an overnight bag for Machu Picchu. On arrival in to Aguas Calientes we will be met by our guide for a walk to our nearby hotel. Aranwa Cuzco Boutique Hotel (B) DAY 16 - WEDNESDAY 29 MARCH CUZCO-PUNO This morning we are met by our guide and transferred to Cuzco railway station to board the Andean Explorer for a First Class Train journey between Cuzco and Lake Titicaca. The Andean Explorer is exquisitely decorated in the fine manner of the great Pullman trains of the 1920 s. It boasts a full fleet of refurbished coaches including dining cars and an open-air observation bar car, which is unique in South America. This spectacular rail journey travels south from Cuzco, gently climbing to higher and cooler altitudes dominated by the magnificent Andean mountains and the Huatanay River. The glass-walled observation car provides the perfect opportunity to view the beautiful scenery. Excellent dining is served including a three-course lunch, followed by coffee served in the observation car. Upon arrival at Puno station, we will be met by our guide and transferred to our hotel in Puno. Libertador Lake Titicaca Hotel (BLD) DAY 17- THURSDAY 30 MARCH PUNO - LIMA Today we embark on a tour to the Taquile and Uros Islands to experience Andean culture and enjoy lunch made from fresh local produce. We visit the house of a local family and engage in activities with them. Later we sail to the Uros Islands where you will notice that the boats, houses and the islands are made from reeds. This afternoon, we transfer to Juliaca airport for our flight to Lima. Upon arrival we will be met by our guide and transferred to our hotel. The tour ends with a visit to the modern suburbs of San Isidro where we will visit the pre-inca pyramid of Huaca Huallamarca and onsite museum, before we continue to Miraflores, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In one day we will see two of Rio s most beautiful highlights: Sugarloaf Mountain, and one of the recently announced New 7 Wonders of the World the Christ the Redeemer statue. The panoramic tour also includes two of Rio s famous beaches: Copacabana and Ipanema, as well as Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the luscious Tijuca Forres. We will also see the surrounding buildings; Government House, the Metropolitan Cathedral with the Mausoleum of General San Martin, Argentina s greatest national hero and the Cabildo, the colonial town hall built in We then head to La Boca, the typically Italian district where the first Italian immigrants settled. Between the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, the Vistadome passes by some of Peru s most beautiful mountainous scenery, including the vast, agricultural terraces of Jaquijahuana and the Urubamba River Valley. CORCOVADO RACK RAILWAY IN RIO Ride from Cosme Velho to the summit of the Corcovado Mountain at an altitude of 710 m. The summit is known for its statue of Christ the Redeemer and its views over the city and beaches of Rio. The line is 3.8 km long. It is a 1m (3 ft in) gauge rack railway using the Riggenbach rack system. The line was opened by Emperor Dom Pedro II on 9 October Initially steam hauled, the line was the first railway to be electrified in Brazil in 1910, and was re-equipped in 1980 with trains built by SLM of Winterthur in Switzerland. 6 Tren Crucero BOOKING CONDITIONS AND SPECIAL TERMS DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS A non-refundable deposit of $3000 per person together with a signed booking form is required at the time of booking. Tour costs are subject to change at any time until full payment has been received. PAYMENT CONDITIONS All rates are in $AUD and are cash/cheque rates. Credit card payments attract a merchant fee. Deposits are non transferable and non-refundable. Final balance is due 13 December CANCELLATION POLICY If cancelled outside of 90 days prior to travel a cancellation fee of the deposit applies. 90 days or less prior to departure - 100% of tour cost. Travel insurance for cancellation protection is strongly recommended. No refunds can be given to any passenger who joins the tour after its commencement or for early departure from the tour. Refunds are not available for any meals, accommodation or excursions not partaken during the tour. No refund is given where pre-booked accommodation is partially or wholly unused. No overseas supplier or associate is authorised to promise a refund on behalf of West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre. TOUR ESCORT A tour escort will be provided subject to a minimum of 20 passengers travelling. A second escort will be provided subject to 30 or more passengers travelling. BOOKING FORM A booking form must be completed and submitted at the time of paying your deposit. The terms and conditions as set out on this brochure are binding whether you have read the conditions or not. TOUR BROCHURE Every care has been taken to ensure that the contents of this brochure are correct and accurate at the time of printing, however some details may have changed since the brochure was published (Jan 2016). Please check this with your consultant prior to departure. FORCEMAJEURE If the tour can not proceed due to flood, earthquake, war or civil strife, acts of terrorism, hurricane, cyclone, industrial disturbance, strike, fire, lock out, epidemic, failure or delays of scheduled transportation facilities, or other Acts of God, or any law, order, decree, rule or regulation of any government authority or for any reason whether of a similar or dissimilar nature beyond the control of West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre, this agreement shall terminate and there shall be no claim for damages by either party against the other. TRAVEL INSURANCE It is a condition of booking with West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre that you take out appropriate travel insurance. You are not permitted to travel with us without having adequate travel insurance in place. Your policy must include cover for cancellation. Charges and the cost of assistance, including repatriation in an emergency and for all conditions including those which are pre-existing. It is a requirement that you provide travel insurance details to us at the time of final payment. GUARANTEED GROUP DEPARTURES The Group programme offered in this brochure are group touring programmes. The term group tour is defined as having a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 40 passengers travelling. Once West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre confirms 20 deposited passengers travelling, it guarantees that the group tour will depart. In the event of only 19 passengers or less booking, we will be unable to operate that departure as a group tour and that departure will be withdrawn. In rare instances such as this, West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre guarantees to advise all parties concerned of the withdrawal of the tour at least 90 days prior to its scheduled departure date. PRICES & CURRENCY FLUCTUATIONS Our current prices are calculated on exchange rates known on the 14 September We reserve the right to make changes to and correct errors in the advertised prices at any time before final payment. West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre will re-invoice for any unpaid retrospective increases in air taxes or increases caused by currency fluctuations. UNSUITABILITY If the operators consider any passenger as an unsuitable person for any tour it may in its absolute discretion cancel that passenger s booking or decline to carry that passenger further, if at all. ITINERARY VARIATIONS All possible effort will be made to adhere to the published touring itinerary. Occasionally circumstances beyond our control will force changes, amendments or modifications to the itinerary and its inclusions. West Coast Cruise and Travel Centre cannot be held responsible for any omissions or modifications to the itinerary or the inclusions made as a consequence to these changes. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION In the unlikely instance of a hotel change becoming necessary the alternative property will be of a comparable or higher standard and there shall be no refund in this connection.
