Everyone loves a campfire but be sure to keep your fire under control and extinguish it properly. Don t use fallen wood on your fire. This dead wood is an important part of the ecosystem. 12 Tour Ontario Parks Georgian Bay Circle Tour Georgian Bay features more than 30,000 islands and 2,000 kilometres of shoreline. Some refer to it as the sixth great lake. This circle tour is a study in contrasts the eastern side of the bay showcases the rugged rocks and windswept pines of Killbear and white quartzite hills of Killarney; at the southern end, Wasaga Beach, the world s longest freshwater beach; and on Manitoulin Island the rare alvar ecosystem of Misery Bay. Around the loop you can also stay at Grundy Lake, Oastler Lake, Awenda or Craigleith. Lake Superior Coastal Route Travel between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay along Superior s north shore. Witness the majesty and power of the world s largest freshwater lake. This route offers rugged coastline, sheltered beaches and spectacular vistas. Along the way, you have the options of camping at Pancake Bay, Lake Superior, Neys, Rainbow Falls and Sleeping Giant Provincial Parks. Your camping permit will also allow you to enjoy the drama of Ouimet Canyon and Kakabeka Falls. Ottawa Valley Algonquin Highlands Route Heading northwest from Ottawa, follow the historic Ottawa River to the Mattawa River; in the footsteps of First Nations people, European explorers, fur-traders and loggers. Head south to Huntsville, in the heart of Muskoka, where you will turn east through Algonquin Provincial Park. Stop at Driftwood and Samuel de Champlain on the Ottawa/Mattawa leg of this route. Be sure to stop in at Samuel de Champlain s Visitor Centre. If you re looking for more adventure, head into Barron Canyon in northern Algonquin for a day hike. Travelling south, RV ers will want to stay at Arrowhead to enjoy its very large, private campsites, beaches and hiking trails. This route finishes with a trip across world-famous Algonquin Provincial Park. Along Highway 60, travellers have many opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing.
