The North Sinaloa season is expected to have started this week, see pages 3-5. Haiti is currently exporting to the U.S., see pages 6-7. VARIETIES: There are currently 4 main mango varieties available in the market: Tommy Atkins (44%), Ataulfo (Honey) (19%), Kent (35%) and Madame Francis (2%). There are also reports of limited supplies of the following varieties: Manila, Haden and Thai. See pages 2, 5 and 7. SIZING: (Ataulfo/Honey: Large = size 16 and larger, Small = size18 and smaller. Round mangos: Extra Large = 7 and larger, Large = sizes 8 and 10, Small = 12 and smaller.) Mexican mango sizes: 59% of Ataulfos (Honey) are Large, and 41% are Small; 18% of round mangos are Extra Large, 59% are Large, and 22% are Small; see chart on page 5. VOLUMES: Mango volumes between now and 40 (ending 10/6/18) are expected to be 7% lower year-over-year. Please note Mexican mango volume projections have been shifting due to higher than normal fruit abortion caused by drought conditions in the central and northern Pacific producing regions. The peak of the Mexican mango season is expected to be at the end of June to early July with over 3.9 million boxes/week. Haitian mango volume for their season is projected to be 66% lower than last year due to the 2017 hurricanes and rains that significantly affected the flowering stage. See page 2 for total volumes, and pages 4 and 7 for individual country volumes. Mango volume shipped on week ending 6/23/18 was approximately 3,842,662 boxes. During the same week last year, volume shipped was approximately 4,078,185 boxes. 4,500,000 Mexico and Haiti Volume Combined Shipping Projections 2018 Total Shipped from Source 2018 Total Arrived at U.S. Entry Port 2018 Total Shipped from Source ,000,000 3,500,000 3,000,000 2,500,000 2,000,000 1,500,000 1,000, ,000 0 U.S. entry ports report incoming mango volume on different schedules; some report daily and some weekly.
