On February 1st, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed several bills into law and announced: A landmark day for Atlantic City, and the beginning of its transformation into a vacation and convention city for the world! The signing took place at the site of the Revel Casino Resort, a 53-story, 6.3 million square foot, 3,800 room hotel and casino that, upon completion, will be the biggest casino property in Atlantic City. The governor said that construction will restart immediately, and the casino will open in June The state also unveiled a draft of the new Atlantic City Tourism District plans. The concept is to create a state-supervised tourism district with enhanced police patrols and sanitation and include the Boardwalk, the Marina District, the Walk Outlet Shops and Bader Field.
