2 About Saipan Saipan is the capital and largest island in the 14 island string of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Like Puerto Rico, Saipan is considered part of the United States and utilizes the US dollar as currency, with English being the official language. Although Saipan is only fourteen miles wide, its beaches, culture and people create a welcoming and beautiful atmosphere for businesses, vacationers and residents.

5 People The locals on Saipan are the Chamorro and Carolinian people, although there are also large populations of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Thai and Americans. 7 The climate makes it possible to enjoy outdoor activities year round including, paddleboarding, swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, windsurfing, hiking, cycling and kayaking. Saipan s snorkeling and scuba diving is world renowned and includes dive sites such as the Grotto, which was voted 2nd best dive spot in the world by Dive Magazine. It is also a secret haven for golfers, with amazing ocean view luxury courses. Among them, the famous Lao Lao Bay Gold Resort, which was designed by legendary golf course designer Greg Norman.

8 History Saipan and its neighboring islands were first inhabited around 2000 BC with some traces of human settlements ranging over 4,000 years. The Spanish were the first Europeans to land on the islands in 1521 by the Ferdinand Magellan expedition. During WWII, the Northern Mariana Islands played a major role. Japan considered Saipan as part of the last line of defenses for the Japanese homeland and thus were strongly committed to defending it. The Battle of Saipan, which was fought from the 15th of June to the 9th of July in 1944, was one of the major American campaigns in WWII. American Memorial Park showcases the rich history of the islands including many artifacts chronicled in the September 1990 edition of National Geographic.

With the completion of these projects, Saipan will not only be America s Best Kept Secret for experiencing the natural wonders of the Pacific, Saipan will also be considered THE prime destination for experiencing some of the CNMI s highest quality food services, first-rate restaurants, luxury entertainment and designer shopping outlets.

11 Community Best Sunshine International targets to open a live training facility, Best Sunshine Live, this summer in the heart of Saipan s business district. Programs with both classroom and live instruction at the training casino, Best Sunshine Live, have begun for training hundreds of locals to join in the professional casino careers. Those trained will also be part of the troop of needed skilled resources for supporting a diversity of operations at the integrated entertainment resorts that are to be developed. In addition to providing hundreds of new jobs, Best Sunshine International began a Beautification Campaign, which involves the cleaning up and overall preservation of the island s top natural sites, with a goal of driving and sustaining tourism as well as promoting environmental awareness in the community. In addition, Best Sunshine International provided a $10 million dollar gift to the people of Saipan that directly benefited 15,615 residents who needed help in paying their utility bills.
