The soaring snow-capped peaks of the Alps, glittering blue lakes, emerald valleys, glaciers, and picturesque lakeside hamlets provide fairytale beauty. This fantastic trip features 3 nights in Zurich, 3 nights in Lucerne, and 2 nights in Montreux. Experience walking tours of Zurich and Lucerne, travel on the Lucerne-Interlaken Express, visit the charming city of Montreux, and visit Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn. Optional tours to Lake Constance, Mt. Pilatus, Schilthorn, and Gruyeres are also offered.

2 Germany. Nicknamed The Flower Island, Mainau has a semitropical climate that inspired Prince Nikolaus von Esterhazy to create a botanical garden in the first half of the 19th century. Later, the gardens were expanded with an arboretum, an Italian rose garden, and other features. After some free time to explore the island and gardens and have lunch on your own, we will board our boat to Uberlingen where our coach will meet us to take us back to Zurich. (Optional tour cost: $249 per person, approximately 8 am - 5:30 pm). Dinner this evening is on your own. Overnight Zurich, Switzerland. DAY 4 - Lucerne, Switzerland City Tour (Optional Tour to Mount Pilatus) (B,D) Today after Our Itinerary: DAY 1 - Depart for Zurich, Switzerland (D) Today, depart for Zurich, Switzerland. While relaxing on our overnight flight across the Atlantic, enjoy meal service and in-flight entertainment. DAY 2 - Arrive in Zurich, City Tour (L) Upon arrival in Zurich, we will be met by our local guide and transfer to the hotel for a 2-night stay, with immediate check-in. Zurich is an international metropolis of many unique facets - a thriving city, a financial and industrial center, the economic and cultural hub of the nation, and the charm of a gentle green Swiss landscape at your doorstep. Zurich is one of Switzerland s loveliest cities, with its classic old town, elegant lakeside, the pulsating activity of the Bahnhofstrasse, meandering alleys, world famous museums and intimate galleries. An included lunch will be served at the hotel, and then we will head out for a two-hour guided walking tour to visit the historical part of the city: the Old Town, St. Peters Church known to have the largest clock-face of all the European churches, the world-famous Bahnhofstrasse, the Limmatquai, the Guild Houses, and the renowned Marc Chagall stained glass windows at Fraumünster Church. Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner on your own this evening. Overnight Zurich, Switzerland. DAY 3 - Optional tour to Lake Constance (B) Today, enjoy a day at leisure in Zurich, or you may choose to take an optional tour to nearby Lake Constance. Following breakfast at the hotel, we will travel by train from Zurich to Konstanz. Upon arrival in Konstanz, we will take a short walk from the train station to the pier to board our boat to the beautiful island of Mainau, located in Lake Constance on the border with breakfast at the hotel, we will check out and travel by motorcoach to Lucerne, Switzerland. Like many of Switzerland's larger cities, Lucerne is perched on the shores of a scenic lake. Possessing a rare beauty that makes Lucerne Switzerland's most photogenic city, it also has a lovely Old Town, a strong cultural tradition and several very interesting sights. Upon arrival, enjoy a fascinating walking tour of this lovely and ancient city. Visit the imposing Chapel Bridge, the city s umistakable landmark, and let your eyes wander up to the impressive roofs and pinnacles, along flower-decked sills to the hustle and bustle of arcades and market squares. Following our walking tour, enjoy some free time in Lucerne to explore and get lunch on your own before checking into our hotel for a 3-night stay. This afternoon, you may choose an optional excursion to nearby Mt. Pilatus. Mt. Pilatus is associated with many myths. In medieval times, rumors abounded that dragons lived in its crevices. According to local legend, the mountain is named after Pontius Pilate, the Roman emperor who ordered the death of Jesus Christ, and whose lifeless body the devil supposedly dumped in a lake on Mt. Pilatus. It s more likely, however, that the mountain s name

3 is connected to the Latin word pileatus ( capped ), which may refer to the clouds that often shroud its peaks. Our coach will take us to the idyllic village of Alpnachstad where we will board world s steepest cogwheel railway to the top of Mt. Pilatus at almost 7,000 feet above sea level. From the summit, enjoy a breathtaking and unforgettable panorama with 73 mountain peaks and countless lakes. The spectacular descent on board the Dragon Ride aerial cableway and the Panorama Gondola will take us down to Kriens where our coach will meet us to return us to the hotel. (Optional tour cost: $129 per person, approximately 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm). This evening, we will experience a dine-around dinner in which our group will be divided into smaller groups. DAY 5 - Lucerne, Switzerland Optional Tour to Schilthorn (B) Today is a day at leisure in Lucerne, or you may choose to take an optional tour to Schilthorn, a mountain overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Alps. After breakfast at the hotel, we will board the motorcoach to discover the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. We make our way into the Lauterbrunnen Valley to Stechelberg where we will then take a cable car almost 10,000 feet to the top of the Schilthorn, famous for having been used for one of the James Bond movies. The ascent involves three different stages and changes, leading to the very top of the mountain. After some free time to take in the scenery and enjoy lunch (on your own), we will take the cable car back to Stechelberg where our motorcoach will be waiting to drive us back to Lucerne. (Optional tour cost: $199 per person, approximately 9 am - 5 pm). Dinner this evening is on your own. DAY 6 - Lucerne,Switzerland (B) Today is a day at leisure in Lucerne. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then venture out to explore this charming city on your own. There is lots to see and do. DAY 7 - Train to Montreux (B,D) This morning after breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and travel by train to our next destination. We will start our adventure by boarding the Lucerne Interlaken Express to take an unforgettable journey right into the heart of Switzerland. Our two-hour first-class train ride will take us along the shores of crystal-clear lakes, past romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass. Experience some of the most spectacular views the Swiss Alps have to offer through large panoramic windows. Upon arrival in Interlaken, enjoy free time and lunch (on your own). Then, we will continue our trip by train from Interlaken to Zweisimmen, where we will then board the Golden Pass train to Montreux. Along the way we will be treated to an unforgettable panorama of varied landscapes and picturesque towns and villages. Upon arrival in Montreux, we will check into our hotel for a 2-night stay. Montreux is truly a potpourri world of art, history, scenic beauty, folklore, and elegant traditions. The town's promenade is lined with flowers, sculptures, Mediterranean trees and grand Belle Époque buildings. Offshore is a medieval island castle, Château de Chillon, with ramparts, formal halls and a chapel with 14 th century murals. For dinner this evening, we will have another dine-around in which the group will be divided into smaller groups, each visiting a different restaurant. Overnight Montreux, Switzerland. DAY 8 - Montreux (Optional Cheese, Chocolate and Farm Tour) (B) Today is a day at leisure in Montreux, or you may choose to join in an optional tour to enjoy two of Switzerland s most famous products chocolate and cheese! We will start the day with visits to two farms. This won t be a usual visit of a region because you will be introduced to locals who will show you the way they live in the mountains. Our first visit will be in Leysin where we will visit the stables and learn how the farmers work the lands. The Perreten family goats have taken the place of cows. From goats milk, they produce a delicious cheese and yogurt. On Leysin s Crettaz plateau, the animals roam freely, munching the sweet grass and mountain flowers of the Vaud Alps to their hearts content. You can watch the ingenious process of cheesemaking and have the opportunity to taste and to buy produce in the farm shop. Once you have made friends with the goats, we will move on to the sheep! The Barroud family, living in their family chalet farm dating back to the 1800s, are producing delicious cheese and yogurt, and the lady of the house, Elisa, also makes her own soap, creams, and even socks! The village of Crettaz itself is full of quaint chalets and hidden secrets to discover and our local guide will help us do that! Following our visit, a snack will be organized on a garden terrace, where we will enjoy breathtaking views of Swiss mountains and valleys. Following our visit, we will travel to the village of Gruyeres, well- known for its famous Swiss cheese. Take some free time to discover the village and perhaps enjoy a famous cheese fondue for lunch (on your own). Next, we will visit the legendary Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory in nearby Broc where we will discover the secrets of the creation of Swiss chocolate and enjoy a tasting. We will transfer back to our hotel in Montreux where the remainder of the day will be on your own. (Optional tour cost: $199 per person, approximately 9 am - 6 pm). 4 DAY 9 - Zermatt (B,D) After breakfast, we will check out of our hotel in Montreux and travel by motorcoach along Lake Geneva, past Chillon Castle and into the mighty Rhone Valley, the fruit-growing heart of Switzerland. Upon arriving at Taesch, we will board the mountain train to Zermatt. The village of Zermatt (5,300 feet) lies at the foot of the Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the Alps and at nearly 15,000 feet, one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe. Zermatt is a charming village where everything is within a short walk. Shops and cafés offer variety, but Zermatt is also a Walser village with houses dating back more than 500 years. Take time to walk along the winding streets, quiet corners, and visit the boutiques and shops. After free time in the village, we will board a train to continue our journey to Zurich for our overnight stay. Upon arrival in Zurich, our coach will pick us up to proceed to dinner at a local restaurant. Following dinner, we will check into our hotel for a 1-night stay. Overnight Zurich, Switzerland. DAY 10 - Fly to Ohio (B) This morning following breakfast in the hotel, we will make a short transfer to Zurich International Airport where we will check in for our return flights to the United States. We will arrive home this evening.
