ASHRAF HELMY - THE IMPRESSIVE PROFILE Mr. Helmy studied hotels management and graduated from the faculty of Hotels & Tourism in Egypt. He worked in this career since 1978 in different positions in Rooms Division and Food and Beverage department in several international chains. He became General Manager for the first time in 1999 and helped in the openings of 9 hotels and 4 Nile cruisers. He was promoted to be the Area General Manager of Makadi Bay complex, managing 7 hotels 5 & 4 stars, with 1906 rooms and 2200 staff. He came to the United Arab Emirates by the end of 2006 to open Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort and to look for more projects to come in the capacity of the Area General Manager and Business Development Manager. ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS FOR GUESTS The Resort is closer and more sympathetic to environment around it than the other tall skyscrapers which surround it. This is a very important aspect in our industry to

The Resort has also Mr. Ashraf Helmy - General Manager and Area Business Development Manager has kick-started two new environmental initiatives this April, called Tree Planting for Regular Guest and Kids Gardening Program with an aim to preserve the environment as well as attract guests to return to the property. The Kids Gardening Program is held every Saturday which becomes a fun activity for the kids and also teaches them on the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and green. I see our resort as a window for hotel guests to become aware of environmental issues and the huge impact the travel and tourism industry has on the environment, because they have leisure time to think about such

It is great to see when something really clicks, and families will transfer this knowledge to their lives back at home to actively contribute to protecting the environment themselves, explains Mr. Helmy. The programs are in addition to the yearly environmental activity called Art Craft Exhibition where hotel staffs are encouraged to create their own art from recycled materials that are found within or around the hotel and sell them on the auction day. The property is also proud to have its own vegetables and fruits garden where some of the hotel s fresh produce are harvested for consumption. CULINARY AWARD The Resort was recognized with multiple awards at the prestigious Emirates Salon Culinaire recently held at the World Trade Center as part of this year s Gulf Food and Equipment Exhibition. The competition is a great opportunity for our chefs to demonstrate their skills and talents to their peers and to be recognized by international judges for their work will definitely inspire them to practice more and perfect their skills, said Mr. Helmy. CONNECTING AT ITB BERLIN 2012 A delegation from the Beach Resort participated in the world s largest travel fair, ITB Berlin, which ran from 7th to 11th March 2012, in Berlin, Germany to deepen their business relations and promote the brand to potential key markets. During the financial crunch the hotels & tourism industry were affected like the most of the industries. We were able to survive and stay in the market by controlling our costs as well as more aggressive sales activities. We managed to keep our heads up with the help of our loyal guests.
