3 ONCE UPON A TIME.. The hotel's history is captivating. Dating back to the beginning of the XIXth Century and telling the story of a love gift. When Count Spiridon Papadopoli, rich and brilliant entrepreneur, bought the entire area of the former convent of Santa Croce. As a love gift dedicated to his young wife Teresa Mosconi, Count Spiro wanted to build a summer residence with a large park. At the end, so called, "the Papadopoli Garden, has been planned and realized by architect and painter Francesco Bagnara, better known as the scenographer of the Teatro La Fenice. The palace Papadopoli-Foresti and its park soon became famous and privileged venue of the high society. During July and August, the romantic couple used to held extravagant parties for the nobility. During the creation of the Hotel Papadopoli Pietro Porcinai, a Tuscan garden architect involved in project, decided to reproduce a Winter Garden (today the restaurant), in order to offer an intelligent and sensitive tribute to the old count Papadopoli and restore the original dialog between Indoor and outdoor landscape.
