The design of the 55,000m² hotel resort was done by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill from New York, who implemented Jumeirah Group s vision of creating a truly luxurious and idyllic destination in Kuwait that brings an exciting set of new experiences interlaced with heritage and history. Almost 40 years ago, the Messilah Beach Hotel opened in Kuwait in 1974 and quickly became one of the favourite destinations for both locals and visitors alike. It served its clients for decades and created many unforgettable memories around the area. Today, the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa has been built on the same historical site and features numerous aspects of Arabic architecture in a contemporary setting. Location Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa is ideally located in the secluded area of Messilah situated along the shores of the Arabian Gulf, with easy access to Kuwait s Central Business District, airport and major attractions. Structure & Design Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa is inspired by its location. Messilah, derived from the word Massiyalah, denotes a low-lying area where waters merge and flow into the sea. Thus, inherent to the hotel s identity, water can be found throughout the hotel s design. Water features flow from the central lobby and throughout the building to connect with streams, channels and fountains in the gardens.

2 Water is also reflected in a series of striking sculptures and in the interior design of the hotel. In addition, the hotel s Talise Spa, Jumeirah s signature spa concept, means beautiful waters in a Native American language, to reflect the calming and soothing properties of water. Another key design feature is the use of traditional Kuwaiti oriel windows of Mashrabiya design which can be found around the hotel. Mashrabiya screens are also fitted in the bedrooms and can be pulled across the windows to provide privacy and shade from the sun. The main hotel building is five storeys and approximately 22m in height. Its series of villas with private plunge pools and residential suites run along the northern side of the hotel. Royal Suites The two 360m 2 Royal Suites are situated on the third and fourth floors with their own corridors and private access.
