1 2017 Annual Meeting Close Up #4 Focus on Activities & Events Every TCC Annual Meeting takes place in a casual atmosphere, where attendees are encouraged to visit and connect with friends old and new. This collegial event offers many opportunities to engage in activities; share information, stories and treasures; and to learn from one another. Three special features of the Annual Meeting are designed to foster this casual, active engagement: the Show and Discuss Session, the Transferware Sale, and the Jumble Table. Show and Discuss After dinner on Friday evening, October 20, meeting participants will gather for an informal Show and Discuss Session. Members are invited to bring up to two items that they would like to share with others, and are encouraged to bring unusual, interesting, and mystery items. Enjoy this casual evening with fellow collectors; learn more about transferware from experts in the field; and share tales of transferware quests and finds. Transferware Sale This The anxiously awaited annual event, open exclusively to TCC members, will be held on Sunday, October 22. A host of memberdealers will be offering a wide array of transferware items of exceptional quality, enabling meeting participants to add exquisite treasures to their personal collections. To facilitate shopping and ease of travel, a local shipping firm will be on-site to ship purchases directly to home or business. Bring cash, checkbooks and credit cards! Jumble Table The Jumble Table, which offers non-dealer members the opportunity to sell transferware and related reference books and prints from their collections, will take place during the Transferware Sale. Our jumble table coordinators will collect and display the items, assist with paperwork, and man the sales. Non-dealer attendees may place up to five items for sale on the Jumble Table for a nominal fee per item. Bring items to sell to make room for new treasures! 2 Registration Form Annual Meeting Registration for the Annual Meeting, including the Transferware Sale, is open to current TCC members and pre-arranged guests only. If not a member, you may register for the meeting and join the club by completing the appropriate sections of this form. This year, the registration process has been simplified: each attendee will pay a single registration fee which includes all meeting activities: seven lectures, the Roundtable Discussion, one workshop, the Show and Discuss Session, Transferware Raffle, and Transferware Sale; excursions to visit two private collections, the guided tour and lunch at Wrigley Mansion, dinner at Gertrude s Restaurant in the Desert Botanical Gardens, and all lunches and dinners during the meeting. The registration fee is the same for all attendees, whether staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel or elsewhere. The registration fee excludes hotel accommodations and breakfasts. 4 Optional Post-Meeting Tour of the Best of Arizona We are also pleased to offer the opportunity to visit some of Arizona s spectacular natural wonders and places to visit in the Valley of the Sun with this special postmeeting tour that includes the following: OPTIONAL POST-MEETING EXCURSION: PHOENIX, SEDONA & THE GRAND CANYON ITINERARY Monday, October 23rd L, D PHOENIX & THE VALLEY OF THE SUN We will depart the hotel at 8:30 a.m. for a full day exploring the Valley of the Sun. Begin with a one-hour guided walking tour of the Desert Botanical Garden including the Sybil B. Harrington Cactus and Succulent Galleries and the Berlin Agave Yucca Forest. Next visit Taliesin West, architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and school in the desert from 1937 until his death in 1959 at the age of 91. Today it is the main campus of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture and houses the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Lunch nearby. Then continue to downtown Phoenix for a highlights tour at the Heard Museum, which showcases American Indian art and history, followed by time on your own. Dinner on the terrace at Ocotillo Restaurant, featuring New American food and considered one of the top 10 restaurants in Phoenix. See the Chapel of the Holy Cross, have lunch on your own, and enjoy time to shop. Check-in for one night at the Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel, with marvelous red-rock views. The balance of the afternoon is at leisure. Consider an optional afternoon excursion with Pink Jeep Tours at 3 p.m. (at additional cost; up to 7 people per jeep): Ancient Ruins Tour (3 hours; $95 + tax + gratuity; must be able to walk ¾ mile to view the dwelling and rock art) or the more mild Red Rock Range Tour (2 hours; $75 + tax + gratuity; a milder option over Forest Service roads with no walking involved). Enjoy panoramic views from our seats in the Observation Dome, along with fresh fruit, pastries, coffee and juice. Our journey through Grand Canyon Country features a variety of stunningly different landscapes: from the Ponderosa pine forest surrounding Williams, to a gentle drop in elevation down to the wideopen prairie before climbing back up to the Piñon pine forests as the train approaches Grand Canyon National Park. Arrive at Grand Canyon Depot at 11:45 a.m., where our coach will meet us for a full day of sightseeing. A box lunch will be provided. 5 OPTIONAL POST-MEETING EXCURSION (continued) Thursday, October 26 th B, D SOUTH RIM, GRAND CANYON Breakfast at El Tovar, then spend a full day exploring the South Rim with our local guide. Enjoy numerous canyon views from various vantage points; such as Powel Point, Monument Creek Vista and Pima Point. Stop for lunch on your own at Hermit s Rest Snack Bar, built by the Fred Harvey Company in 1914 and crafted out of native rock and stone. This evening enjoy a gourmet dinner at El Tovar Restaurant. This majestic dining room is constructed of native stone and Oregon pine with murals on the walls reflecting the customs of four Native American Tribes the Hopi, the Apache, the Mojave and the Navajo. Overnight: El Tovar Friday, October 27 th B, L GRAND CANYON VILLAGE / PHOENIX Following breakfast at El Tovar and check-out, we depart by private coach from the Grand Canyon to Sky Harbor International Airport (4 to 4-1/2 hours). AIRPORT TRANSFERS The tour cost does not include the airport transfers upon arrival to Phoenix, or for departures other than on October 27 th for flights departing after 3 p.m. HOTELS AND SINGLE SUPPLEMENT The tour price is based on one or two persons per room with private bath and/or shower. The right is reserved to substitute hotels when necessary. Should you wish to have a roommate, Travel Muse will endeavor to arrange for congenial travel companions; however, this cannot be guaranteed and the single accommodation price will be charged when necessary. MEALS Only those meals indicated are included in the cost of the tour. ITINERARY Although Travel Muse and ground operators will make every effort to adhere to the itinerary, on rare occasions it may be necessary to adjust arrangements due to circumstances beyond our control. Should any activities not be available, substitution will be made to the best of our ability and no refund will be made. Any additional costs necessitated by such changes are the responsibility of the tour member. TOUR COSTS Prices are based on a minimum of 16 paying participants and costing as of January 29 th, At the time of final payment, Travel Muse reserves the right to add any increased amounts arising from changes in taxes and from changes instituted by suppliers or caused by market conditions. All local/government taxes on hotels, meals, and services in the itinerary are included in addition to normal gratuities to porters, waiters, and local guides. Rates are based on group participation, and there can be no refund for services or portions of the tour not taken. It is also understood and agreed that all excursions are optional and refunds cannot be made to tour members who do not participate or complete the tour, for any reason.
