21 Congress Venue Megaron Athens International Conference Centre Exhibitions Spaces As well as a dedicated exhibition space, the multi-leveled sweeping Foyer areas of the International Conference Centre are often used for conference affiliated exhibitions. With stairs, escalators and elevators connecting all levels, moving around the exhibition areas is very straightforward. The dedicated Exhibition space is built on 3 levels with a total of m2, close to the function rooms. This space can be used either for exhibition purposes or poster areas. Due to the large open spaces, more than 7 equivalent exhibition spaces of 50 square meters can be allocated within the commercial exhibition spaces

28 Social Events HERODES ATTICUS ODEON Theatre Performance It was the third Odeion to be built in Athens, after the Odeion of Perikles and that of Agrippa. It was erected by Herodes in memory of his wife Regilla, who died in A.D It is shaped as a semicircular theatre, with a radius of 38 m., and could seat around 5,000 people. The facade, 28 m. high, was massive, having a width of 2,40 m. The wall of the skene was lavishly decorated with architectural elements. This magnificent place still offers a unique experience to the members of the audience from all over the world

29 Social Events The STOA OF ATTALOS Social Event The Stoa of Attalos (also spelled Attalus) is recognised as one of the most impressive stoa in the Athenian Agora. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon who ruled between 159 BC and 138BC. Typical of the Hellenistic age, the stoa was more elaborate and larger than the earlier buildings of ancient Athens. The stoa's dimensions are 115 by 20 metres wide and it is made of Pentelic marble and limestone. The building skillfully makes use of different architectural orders. The Doric order was used for the exterior colonnade on the ground floor with Ionic for the interior colonnade. This combination had been used in stoas since the Classical period and was by Hellenistic times quite common.

30 Social Events THE NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM Private Guided Visit The new Acropolis Museum was designed with two objectives: the first to offer the best conditions for the exhibition of its exhibits and secondly to be a Museum that welcomes and befriends its visitors. A walk through its galleries is a walk through history between the masterpieces of the Archaic and Classical periods, but also in the ancient neighborhoods of Athens. The Museum offers many opportunities for rest and recreation, as well as a visitor friendly environment for some of the most emblematic works of antiquity.

31 Social Events ZAPPEION Opening Ceremony or Gala Dinner The Zappeion Exhibition Hall was the first building in the world to be constructed in order to serve Olympic needs. Its architecture is in the neoclassical order, with a Corinthian portico and an organization of volumes that is fully in harmony with the intention for which it was built. This building, the three-arched stone bridge over the Ilissus River that had been repaired also at the expense of Evangelis Zappas and the surrounding gardens give us a charming picture of Athens in the early 20th century Its original purpose was to house exhibitions of art and fairs of agricultural and industrial products. Today, Zappeion Hall is used as a conference and exhibition center, and, at its courtyard, exclusive gala dinners could be arranged.

32 Social Events Pallas Theatre, Atrium Spyromiliou - Opening Ceremony After a long period of anticipation, one of the biggest buildings in the Balkans and the biggest of its time back in the 1930's and 40's has re-opened for business, bringing with it an aura of "belle epoque" into what seems to be a frantic re-generation of central Athens, upgrading of what might be called "public space" for work, leisure, shopping or entertainment. The totally renovated "Pallas" theater with a seating capacity of 1,500 seats, is built with ultra luxury and comfort, allowing also for the latest in sound and vision technology to be installed there. All the safety measures has been taken care of for the smooth conduct of the performances and the audience s safety A variety of shopping arcades and public spaces, especially with regards to the impressive central atrium of the building, which is totally reconstructed with the addition of a new glass roof. The ground floor spaces of the atrium is given to famous luxury shops and restaurants giving it a Western European touch. So in essence, we are talking about a new multi-functional commercial center occupying a full block in the heart of the city, served by many metro stations ("Syntagma" and "Panepistimio") and also close to many hotels. We suggest that the participants experience a sound and light show in the Pallas theater that will be followed by a cocktail reception in the Spyromiliou Atrium.

33 Social Events Gala dinner at the Olympic Velodrome The Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens, also known as OAKA, is one of the most complete European athletic complexes. The Main Olympic Stadium was designed in 1979 and inaugurated in 1982 at the 13th European Athletics Championship. The following years a number of other sport facilities surrounded the Main Olympic Stadium: the Olympic Velodrome (inaugurated in 1991), the Olympic Aquatics Centre (1991), the Olympic Indoor Sports Centre (1995), the Olympic Tennis Centre (2004), as well as other supplementary sport facilities. The Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens hosted the Mediterranean Games in 1991, the World Championship in Athletics in 1997 as well as other important athletic and cultural events, the most significant of which remains the Athens Olympic Games in The Velodrome is the venue where the track cycling discipline took place. The Velodrome has a wooden track with length of 250 meters and 7.50 meters wide made of afzelia hard wood. The renovation of the Velodrome was included in the Aesthetic Unification of OAKA. Velodrome s roof, also designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, was added for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Dinner will take place at the indoor area of the Athens Velodrome. An Orchestra of 10 musician will entertain the participants, while they will have the change to observe the history of Greece on a film, projected in a big Screen.

34 Social Events Gala dinner at Papachristou Vineyards Kellari Papachristou is located at the 16th km Athens-Spata Avenue. It was established in 1994 for the Papachristou vineyard in Spata Attica. Kellari Papachristou is a truly unique wine tasting venue, which can host up to 280 guests. Depending on the nature and style of the event, (seminars, wine tasting, receptions), the place takes on a different appearance to suit the occasion. The stony winery is offered for event hosting throughout the year, as you may choose to be hosted either in the marvelously decorated internal rooms or the lush garden surrounding the winery. Wine varieties produced in Papachristou vineyard are the White Chardonnay and the Red Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. The total annual production of Papachristou winery is about bottles of wine.

36 Day Tours The Parthenon - Acropolis The temple of Poseidon - Sounion Delphi 2500 Years of History Morning drive to the House of Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Acropolis (visit). Theater of Dionyssos, Hadrian s Arch, Temple of Olympian Zeus (visit), the Olympic Stadium, the Royal Palace, the Academy, the University, and the National Library. Poseidon the sea God Afternoon drive along the scenic coastal road through the wonderful beach resort areas of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, arriving at the southeastern most point of Attica, Cape Sounion. There the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon still stand. This is a photographers delight so bring your camera! Early evening return to hotel. The center of the Ancient World Full day tour to the towns of Thebes, Levadia and Arakhova famous for its colorful rugs. Arrive at Delphi, the center of the Ancient World. Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum. Lunch in the village of Delphi. Return to Athens early this evening

37 Day Tours Hydra Poros - Aegina 8.00 a.m. Transfer by motorcoach from Athens to Flisvos Marina and embark on the cruise ship a.m. Sail for the island of HYDRA. In Hydra you have time at leisure for strolling, shopping or swimming. In the early afternoon sail for the island of AEGINA, passing through the narrow strait separating the Peloponnesian coast from the island of POROS. Lunch is served after sailing. Short visit of Poros. Upon arrival in Aegina you can either join the excursion to the Temple of Aphaia (extra cost) or walk around the main town. Finally, re-embark for the sail back to Flisvos Marina p.m. Arrival at Flisvos Marina and transfer to Athens. The Sailing Experience Sailing trip to Aegina Embarkation and disembarkation from/to the port of Alimos Lessons on Board Lunch in the island of Egina Argolis - Epidaurus Drive along the scenic coastal roads of the scenic Gulf to Corinth (stop). Proceed to Mycenae, visit the ruins, including the Lion s Gate, the Tomb of Agamemnon and the Palace. Depart for Nafplio through Argolis. After lunch, leave for Epidaurus where you will visit the famous Theatre known for its superior acoustics. Return to Athens in the evening.
