5 San Juan de la Peña Monastery Hospedería Located in a place so unique that it surpasses the normal attractions of landscape and culture, the New San Juan de la Peña monastery hospedería stands on the southern wing of the building s former location. We are on the meadow of Saint Indalecio. With the notable influence of the nearby Old San Juan del Peña monastery, one of the artistic jewels of our community, the importance of this zone led to the protection of the monastery areas, to the point of attaining the current figure of the Protected Landscape of San Juan de la Peña and Monte Oroel.

6 5 SAN JUAN DE LA PEÑA MONASTERY HOSPEDERÍA Today, the New Monastery complex, which houses the hospedería and the interpretation centres of the Monastery and the Crown of Aragon, is an example of bringing closely together the architectural proposals of diverse times. Particularly noteworthy is the harmony of an intervention that contributes contemporary sensations, both in the volumes and in the materials: copper, glass and steel. Brick and hewn stone have given way to the warmth and luminous versatility of wood and alabaster. It has 0 rooms and five suites, as well as spacious halls for holding all types of banquets and events, both private and professional; it also offers the customer a complete spa with a swimming pool, underwater beds, sauna, Turkish bath and gym equipment. Without a doubt, the key to their lodging offer is comfort, which allows the guest to enjoy an unforgettable stay. All rooms have an outside view and are decorated with the finest materials to add a high level of comfort to the beauty of the surroundings; four of them are duplex, one of which has been adapted for persons with limited mobility. The importance of meticulous care in the installations, to even the smallest detail is accompanied by close attention provided by a select team of professionals. 8 7 SAN JUAN DE LA PEÑA MONASTERY HOSPEDERÍA To list the basic services, reception is open hours a day; excellent room service is also offered, as well as laundry, air conditioning and heating throughout the building, Wi-Fi Internet connection in the lobby for all customers, lounge, meeting rooms, restaurant, self-service and coffee bar, as well as closed garage. The different meeting rooms are perfectly equipped for carrying out any cultural or business activity (with a 6-inch plasma television and DVD player, data projector, laptop computer, flipchart, mixing table for audio and wireless microphone system. The all-purpose hall has a seating capacity of 00 in the theatre, while the meeting room is designed for private meetings (up to 5 persons). Because we are in a place that is marked by its intensity, it is not difficult to search for and find especially attractive or interesting spots that each person will appreciate and value. Possibly the most outstanding one for many is the coffee bar on the first floor, a place to rest before the view of the beautiful surroundings and the exquisite interior design. 9 8 The Monjes Negros restaurant offers a cuisine of synthesis between a modern market proposal and the delights of traditional dishes. This symbiosis is expressed in a very complete menu, although it is also possible to choose a fixed-price menu. Excellent presentation of the products and exquisite treatment in an environment designed so that our senses will drive our imagination. With notable variety, the buffet breakfast consists of pastry, fresh fruit and hot and cold dishes. In other areas of the New Monastery, visits can be made to the Monastery Interpretation Centre and the Kingdom and Crown of Aragon Interpretation Centre. 11 Rueda Monastery Hospedería 0 In the surroundings of a building complex with the importance of the Rueda Monastery (Monastery of Our Lady of the Wheel), this hospedería invites us to reflect on life in different times, from its medieval origin (with the specific peculiarity of Mudejar) to contemporary associations, passing through Renaissance and Baroque elements. Today, after its restoration, it has become a touristic and cultural point of reference, both because of its cultural heritage and its inclusion in the hospederías promoted by the Government of Aragon.

12 RUEDA MONASTERY HOSPEDERÍA The monastery of Nuestra Señora de Rueda (Monastery of Our Lady of the Wheel) is a Cistercian foundation from the end of the th century, favoured by the donation of lands and of the entire villa of Escatrón which King Alfonso II made to the Order of Cister in 8. The monastic life was maintained until 85, when it was disentailed. It has been a National Artistic Monument since 9. The construction of the monumental complex began in the th century and continued until the 8 th century. It can basically be divided into two groups: the one formed by installations of medieval origin, organized around a cloister, and the one composed of all the buildings added after the 6 th century, which finally made up Saint Peter s Square, in front of the rest. Access is through the so-called Puerta Real or Royal Door, presided by an embossing of Saint Bernard, which leads into Saint Peter s Square, surrounded by the abbatial palace, the hospedería, the so-called gallery of the Arches and at the rear, the church. The cenoby takes its name from the great wheel it once had, an innovation that today has been rebuilt, strictly following historical criteria. To fill in some details about its most important parts, said temple is a Gothic building made up of three naves from the th century, to which a th century Mudejar belfry tower was added, which was augmented in the Baroque era. 14 RUEDA MONASTERY HOSPEDERÍA Of the many areas that the Rueda Monastery hospedería offers, particularly noteworthy are some of its common areas which, starting in reception, make it known to us that we are not in a commonplace hotel establishment. One example is that it has various rooms that are technically equipped for any professional activity. The TV room, with a seating capacity of 0 persons; the library (for 8), with one of the most inviting atmospheres of the entire complex, very appropriate for having a coffee break, as well as the game room which, with its ample dimensions can seat up to 0 and is ideal for an unhurried after-lunch/dinner conversation. To this, we add the assembly hall, with natural lighting and excellent technical characteristics, among which are the sound equipment, the DVD, video and projector with screen for the projection of data; it has a seating capacity of 80. Or the banquet hall, complementing the dining room, which can seat up to 00 guests, a perfect infrastructure for holding social events of every kind; without forgetting the swimming pool or the pleasant atmosphere of the coffee bar. 15 The Project of the Rueda Monastery hospedería would not be complete without a first-rate gastronomic offer. The philosophy of its seasonal menu is based on its attention to local products, which then undergo innovative preparation. There is also the option of fixing different menus, according to the occasion, to thus enjoy a perfect culinary experience. In the surrounding area, Sástago has a Baroque church and outstanding buildings of interest: the Tambor tower, the 9th-century fort, the Virgen de Montler hermitage and the La Palma castle. Escatrón itself is very closely linked to the history of the abbey. 17 La Iglesuela del Cid Palace Hospedería 6 Deep in the Teruel Maestrazgo, at an elevation of,7 m stands La Iglesuela del Cid. Among its numerous architectural civil works of interest, particularly outstanding is the Matutano-Daudén palace (8 th century), today integrated as one of the most notable hospederías of Aragon, with its imperial stairway and its lavish halls. The heritage of this town dates back to ancient times, as evidenced by the Roman mausoleum of the Virgen del Cid hermitage. Between the Late Middle Ages and the 8 th century, a great number of important buildings were constructed which, in 98, gave it the title of Historic and Artistic Complex.

18 7 LA IGLESUELA DEL CID PALACE HOSPEDERÍA In La Iglesuela del Cid, the church of La Purificación preserves Gothic elements and its portal is Plateresque, while the rest of the temple is Baroque, including its belfry. In front stands the Templarian tower of Los Nublos. The Town Hall is Gothic-Renaissance; its Mudejar ceiling in the assembly hall is outstanding. Another of the identifying aspects of the village is the mortarless stone architecture, used in traditional constructions (walls, pens or cabins). In addition to the entire group of nearby attractions, La Iglesuela del Cid can be a base from which to explore the vast territory occupied by the Maestrazgo Cultural Park. Almost as though we could travel back to another era, although with all the advantages of recent infrastructure, inside the hospedería the main halls have been preserved; the central stairway which dominates the lobby-reception (which displays an excellent cobblestone), has the original palace railing, as well as other old elements of carpentry or murals, duly assimilated into the decoration which is also inspired in the original era of its construction. Since it was included in the hospederías network, it has had 6 double rooms, all of which are differentiated from each other by the decorative elements and furniture, but perfectly integrated into the preceding stimulus. Standing out from all of them is the suite, although each of the examples is equally attractive. They are equipped with individual bath, telephone, Internet, heating, air conditioning and satellite television. 20 9 LA IGLESUELA DEL CID PALACE HOSPEDERÍA Moreover, in the building there is an elegant restaurant hall, coffee bar, halls for conventions, TV room, access for disabled persons and outer garden area for parking, as well as the option of contracting sports activities. We are not only speaking of hotel installations. The Matutano-Daudén palace has innumerable points where one can stop and enjoy the unexpected. Some of them delight the visitor s eyes when he exits a lift or when he unhurriedly ascends the stairway (very rich in light contrast, empty spaces and modulated volumes). The coffee bar has a particularly warm atmosphere which envelops the visitor; the various halls are strategically distributed on the different floors and the hall adjoining the dining room, a superb view and noble presence. If our curiosity takes us to the first floor we will easily be surprised by the great sloped-roof hall, with extremely comfortable furniture and thoughtful lighting, which is connected to a large terrace which provides insuperable views of the town. As we can see, although the dining hall is the most powerful area in unique elements, the richness of the building appears at every turn. 21 0 One of the many jewels of the hospedería is its restaurant. In the establishment, and adapted for persons with limited mobility, from early morning, a complete buffet-breakfast can be enjoyed. The main meals combine the quality of the local products with the tested experience of international cuisine. Regarding nearby points of interest, Cantavieja, capital of the district, was declared Historic and Artistic Complex in 98. Also nearby, in Mirambel, we can see a city centre that is recognized as one of the best preserved and maintained in all of Aragon. In 980 it received the distinction of being declared a monumental complex and in 98 received the Europa Nostra international prize for renovation. 23 Allepuz Palace Hospedería This is a formidable structure in the upper part of the village, whose most characteristic element is a terrace, from which the roofs of the town can be viewed, open through four round arches supported on columns. On the main façade it has a round portal with large voussoirs and several lintelled apertures. The portal gives way to a great entrance paved with indigenous stone from these lands of the Maestrazgo and Renaissance stairway. To the south it has four levels, as compared to the three levels of the east façade.

24 ALLEPUZ PALACE HOSPEDERÍA Near the Alfambra River, there are some noteworthy buildings in the city centre of Allepuz, especially the so-called Casa Grande, also known as El Palacio. Here is an excellent hospedería that ensures the development and energization of the tourist and hotel sector of the zone. Built in the 6 th century, it is a notable example of Renaissance civil architecture, with the typical characteristics of Aragonese palatial residences. Before entering the reception area, the visitor can stop in the observation lounge, an inviting coffee bar with striking panoramic views of the village of Allepuz and its surroundings. Immediately upon entering, there are elements that stand out such as the ornamental stonework or the carved stairway, examples of attractions that are confirmed in the mezzanines, the deck or, most especially, in the business centre of the south façade, with a beautiful gallery of arches that provides access to the lovely terrace. The business centre is ideal for conventions and business meetings, as it has been specifically prepared for this purpose. With regard to the rooms, the hospedería has double rooms, all equipped with telephone, TV and wireless Internet connection. We believe it is important to mention the excellent level of comfort they offer, both the standard double rooms and the superior models with lounge or, without a doubt, the inviting and spacious proposal of the suite. 26 5 ALLEPUZ PALACE HOSPEDERÍA Visitors stopping here can also enjoy other outstanding landmarks of the town, such as the Town Hall building, beautiful baroque construction from the 7 th century with its carved-wood eave. Another possibility is the church of La Purificación, a temple from the 7 th and 8 th centuries with an altarpiece from the 9 th century. We must visit the Santa Isabel hermitage, of Renaissance style from the 6 th century and the ruins of the Virgen de Loreto hermitage. There was formerly a castle - today in ruins - that protected the territory, making use of its privileged located. Also beginning in the village is the road of Los Pilones, part of the old royal road from Teruel to Levante that stretches nearly 6 kilometres from Villarroya to Allepuz. The surrounding area of the town is interesting, with natural spots of exceptional beauty. From here, we can set out on attractive routes to find towns such as Villarroya de los Pinares or Fortanete, villages that have preserved the tradition of a district marked by irregular orography. Miravete de la Sierra, at only a few kilometres distance, has the Museum of the Flour Mill, where we will witness how these very important machines used throughout Aragon operated. 27 6 The space where the restaurant is located offers very peculiar characteristics. It is the old palace bakery that offers all the comforts necessary, even everything necessary for holding great events. In a very special way, the kitchen balances the local dishes of the Maestrazgo with the more contemporary and imaginative cuisine, including some experimental incursions. The guests can choose from a complete fixed-price menu or, if they wish, from a reliable and attractive à la carte menu. Very near Allepuz is the Valdelinares alpine ski resort. It consists of 9 pistes with a total of 7.5 km of skiable area. 29 Papa Luna Castle Hospedería 8 The Papa Luna castle palace, where Benedict XIII, the most famous Pope unrecognized in official succession, was born, dominates the city centre of the town. It was declared a Historic and Artistic Monument in 9 and today, in addition to the hospedería, it houses a museum about Papa Luna.

30 9 PAPA LUNA CASTLE HOSPEDERÍA The structure of the Papa Luna castle palace is from the th century, with Mudejar features, but hidden due to work in the Renaissance. A monumental portal, framed by towers, gives way to a patio with an outstanding main stairway, from the 7 th century, and also the Golden room and the room with the alcove ( th century), the Crown of Aragon room (7 th century) and the Mausoleum room, containing the remains of Benedict XIII. Illueca is registered and is capital of the district of Aranda, a territory located in the eastern sector of the Iberian mountain range. It extends from the Sierra of the Moncayo to the valley of the Jalón River. It is one of the great unknown places, in spite of it many attractions, among which are its landscapes simple but captivating its nature, rich and biodiverse, its historic and artistic heritage and, of course, its ethnography. Here, Nature lovers will find lush river forests, rugged rocky areas or will also enjoy walks in the surroundings of the Maidevera reservoir. Those who enjoy history can interpret the legacy held by the district in its spectacular castles, convents, and rock hermitages; and lovers of art and architecture will discover architectural gems from the Roman to the Baroque era, passing through sumptuous Gothic-Mudejar buildings. Also noteworthy in Illueca are the old Medieval Bridge and the church of San Juan Bautista (Property of Cultural Interest), from the th century, with plasterwork domes of the Mudejar tradition (7 th century). 31 0 The hospedería of the Papa Luna castle palace has respected the historical dimension of the area it occupies through the many details in its atmosphere (from the music to the uniforms of the personnel or the furniture). It has 6 double rooms distributed over three floors; each of them has a telephone, satellite television, individual air conditioning and complete bathroom. Four of them are suites; of these, particularly outstanding are the two duplexes and very especially the one occupying the southeast tower, because of the panoramic views that can be enjoyed from there. Moreover, this establishment has rooms adapted for persons with reduced mobility, as well as a wide range of common services, such as the lounge, coffee bar and meeting rooms and convention halls. The great advantage of the gastronomic offer of the Papa Luna Castle- Palace hospedería resides in its versatility. In addition to the traditional dishes and incursions into contemporary cuisine in its fixed menu and à la carte menu, services of gastronomic programmes for groups are offered. As is to be expected, the establishment defends the excellence of the local products and offers exquisite treatment to guests. Very near Illueca, Brea de Aragón offers the church of Santa Ana. In the village, a visit can be made to the Museo del Calzado (Footwear Museum), testimony of a traditional economic activity in the district. 33 Mesón de La Dolores Hospedería Roaming the streets of Calatayud, many monumental buildings can be discovered, such as palatial homes; some noteworthy examples are the palace of the Baron of Warsage, the palace of Calle Erlueta, the fountain of La Sisa, the Gate of Terrer and this building, the Mesón (Inn) de la Dolores, which was a typical hospedería of the 9 th century, today perfectly restored, the different parts of which are reminiscent of the myth of a character that is so emblematic for the city.

34 HOSPEDERÍA MESÓN DE LA DOLORES The district of the Community of Calatayud is one of the largest and most populated of Aragón. Located in the Iberian System, the Jalón acts as its axis, as this water course has been the only way of crossing the centre of the Ebro Valley and the Meseta (Plateau). The river is symbolically a sign of union for a territory marked by diversity. Heir to the Roman city of Bilbilis, the remains of which are downstream of the Jalón River, and emerging as a Muslim foundation in the 8 th century, the city of Calatayud soon became an important economic and strategic enclave, a role which it has maintained ever since. Important testimonies remain of all its past, especially rich in Mudejar art. Its old quarter was declared a Historic and Artistic Complex in 967 and has several protected artistic monuments. Calatayud offers magnificent discoveries in its heritage. Its Islamic fortified complex (8 th century), a Property of Cultural Interest, is the largest and oldest in existence on the peninsula. The collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor, built in the 5 th century on the site of the old mosque, is a monument representative of the Gothic and Mudejar culture. In the Jewish quarter, the main synagogue was reconverted into the church of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación; another mosque is today the church of San Andrés, also with a Mudejar tower (6 th century). The Mudejar list is completed with the decoration of the apse of San Pedro de los Francos (5 th century) and the popular sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Peña (6 th century). Also worthy of mention is the collegiate church of the Holy Sepulchre; the old Jesuit seminary and school, and the church of San Juan el Real, with paintings by Goya in the dome. 35 Returning to the Mesón de la Dolores, the access to the reception area is impressive to view. To the right, and passing through the enormous arch that joins the area, there is an outdoor patio, with the curb of an old rebuilt well and a balcony, possibly the loveliest spot in the complex. To the rear is the pleasant coffee bar. The Mesón has a total of rooms. 9 of them are standard doubles, three single rooms and two duplex suites with their corresponding lounge. Their names seem curious, as they are named for the towns of the district, except for room0, known as suite la Dolores, with furniture and accessories that are, once again, reminiscent of the era in which this person lived. The dining room is extraordinary, with restored decorative elements, the most noteworthy of which are the tiles or an old notably large kitchen (seating up to 0 guests), as well as two private rooms for (5 and 0, respectively). It offers two different gastronomic lines: the seasonal suggestions and traditional suggestions of the mesón, in which products with Aragonese designation of origin predominate. In the old stables of the hospedería, of medieval origin, we can enjoy a museum about the personality of La Dolores and her legend. Likewise, in the lower zone, where the wine cellars were, a modern wine tasting room has been built. 37 Hospedería of Loarre 6 In the very heart of the town of Loarre, Miguel Moya square, stands this large house, a small old 6 th -century palace that has undergone profound restorations to equip it with the suitable infrastructures as a hotel establishment. In its renovation, its historical background has been taken into account; thus, it has a mixed appearance with elements assimilated from the Aragonese Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassic styles. An important place for this town, for many years it housed the Town Hall, as well as the old schools and the schoolmaster s residence.

38 7 HOSPEDERÍA OF LOARRE Located in the southwest zone of the district of the Hoya de Huesca, the municipality of Loarre, formed by the towns of Linás de Marcuello, Loarre, Santa Engracia de Loarre and Samarcuello, is established as one of the references of our identity. With respect to its heritage, Loarre has interesting civil and religious buildings, such as the 6 th -century, church of San Esteban, the cruz de término or cross at the town entrance and the fountain of that same era or a Roman bridge; but its artistic gem is its famous fortress. The castle of Loarre is recognized as the best preserved Roman military complex in the world. It maintains a large walled enclosure of the Gothic era that leads into the military-religious complex of the th century, built in two main stages: that of the reign of Sancho III el Mayor of Pamplona, at the beginning of that century, and that of King Sancho Ramírez of Aragón, grandson of the former King, at the end of the century. Especially noteworthy are the watchtower at the entrance of the castle, the main staircase, the church of San Pedro, semi-embedded in the rock and with crypt, the Towers of Homenaje and La Reina, the chapel of Santa María or the observation point also known as de La Reina. Nevertheless, in this municipality there are other points of interest. Preserved in the centre of Sarsamarcuello is another fortress of the same th century, the Castle of Marcuello, along with the hermitage of Nuestra Señora and very near that of San Miguel, both also Romanesque. In Linás de Marcuello a museum can be visited that is devoted to the rural school, branch of the Museum Exposition of Pedagogy of Huesca. Facade of the hospedería Reception TV room

39 8 Regarding the common areas, especially warm, of the hospedería, in addition to its outstanding dining room, we could highlight the coffee bar, the convention hall for the organization of business events and, of course, the lounge with television, where the exquisite aesthetics of the furniture in combination with certain details such as the fireplace make it unique. A work area has also been installed, equipped with its computer with Internet connection. The hospedería of Loarre has ten double rooms and two single rooms, with the option of installing extra beds. The relative simplicity of the lodgings does not make them any less than fully comfortable: They all offer full bath, heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi zone, television, telephone and piped music. From the hospedería, a wide selection of leisure services are offered, such as bicycle rental and the organization of outdoor activities, such as rafting, canoeing, canyon descent or hydrospeed. 41 Hospedería of Roda de Isábena 0 This hospedería, inaugurated in 995, is located in a place of privilege in the magnificent surroundings of a town that is in itself distinguished: Roda de Isábena. In the square of the ex cathedral, a place rich in excitement for the traveller, this large house is located almost adjoining the walls of the temple, to house an establishment whose basic offer is of a very high level of hostelry comfort, in addition to the gastronomic and cultural leisure offer.

42 HOSPEDERÍA OF RODA DE ISÁBENA The municipality of Isábena occupies the centre of the historic district of La Ribagorza. The mountains of the North (Posets, Perdiguero, Maladeta or Mulleres, among other peaks) are high, and the highest peak of the Pyrenees, the Aneto; three rivers: the Ésera, the Isábena and the Noguera Ribagorzana flow through the district from North to South. Thus, there are three valleys around which the life of the district revolves. In Roda de Isábena, National Historic Monument, is the ex Cathedral of San Vicente and San Ramón, a gem of Romanesque art and a testimony to the historical importance of La Ribagorza. The zone of the apses and the crypts date back to the beginning of the th century and some years later the work with the naves was continued. But the age of splendour of the temple was in the th century, when during the bishopric of San Ramón, the chapel of the infirmary, which preserves exceptional mural paintings, was consecrated, and the central crypt was renovated, which would later contain the sepulchre of the saint. Subsequently, the cloister, the refectory and the chapter house. The doors of the cathedral date back to the th century, a notable work of carpentry with Mudejar decoration, and the frescos of the north crypt. The portico, the tower and the choir are from the 8 th century. LIkewise, important works of medieval furniture art are preserved in the temple and its cathedral museum among which the chair of San Ramón is noteworthy. Nowadays, with a population of 7, Roda is the smallest village that has come to have a cathedral. In addition to the town layout, its streets and houses, outstanding features in the village are the 6 th -century priory palace and the Roman Bridge. 43 In the hospedería of Roda, careful renovation has made better use of the building, which even has a splendid terrace from which one of the most spectacular places in this zone can be viewed. The 0 rooms, equipped with full bath, telephone and television, are fully equipped with all the comforts of its current hotel offer. Along with them the hospedería offers complete facilities, among which there is an active coffee bar, one of the hubs of the town s life. The exhibition hall and the inviting lounge with fireplace complete the facilities. Moreover, for certain meetings, events and activities, the installations of the nearby Gorda tower are utilized; this is the remains of a suitably adapted th -century watchtower. Small, but very warm, the hospedería of Roda has met one of the most difficult challenges for an establishment of these characteristics: to combine friendly treatment with first-rate service. Without a doubt, the most interesting spot associated with this hospedería is its restaurant, the old refectory of the cathedral, which has served this purpose since 985. Its seating for eighty is distributed under the domed stone floor that softly illuminates with the characteristic cast-iron lamps. The experience of those in charge of the kitchen assures a very exquisite offer, among which there are outstanding traditional dishes and Aragonese products. In the area, a visit should be made to the nearby monastery of Obarra and the medieval bridge of Serraduy, as well as to La Puebla de Roda, Castigaleu and Lascuarre. 45 Hospedería of Sádaba The town of Sádaba occupies the west end of the famed district of Cinco Villas, the only one in Aragón whose territory connects such emblematic places as the Pyrenees and the Ebro River. This extension ensures an unequalled variety of landscapes, which includes mountain forests, steppes, and grain fields. Here stands the Casa Cortés, a notable building for an excellent hospedería.

46 5 HOSPEDERÍA OF SÁDABA Regarding the wealth of this district, when referring to the Cinco Villas we must not only visit the historic towns of Tauste, Ejea de los Caballeros, Sádaba, Uncastillo and Sos del Rey Católico, but it is possible to discover many more interesting aspects that are not as obvious. There are such special places as just to cite a few examples the defence tower of Sofuentes, the Abjejar de Castejón de Valdejasa, the Salt flats of Undués de Lerda, the Corral de Calvo in Luesia, the tower of Valdefunes in Uncastillo, the towers of the Bayo, the monasteries of Cambrón and Puilampa, the fossil footprints (icnites) of Sierra de Luna or, in another area, the ornithological diversity of this area, one of the most important in all of Europe. The notable artistic heritage de Sádaba includes up to five monuments protected as SCIs (Site of Cultural Interest) from different eras; although particularly worthy of mention is the Roman legacy preserved in Sádaba and surrounding area. Dating from this era are the two mausoleums: the Atilios mausoleum, also known as Altar de los Moros (Altar of the Moors), from the nd century, and the one known as La Sinagoga (The Synagogue), from the th century. The castle, of Muslim origin but rebuilt in the th century, stands out both for its size and its simplicity. The church of Santa María is recognized as the best example of Gothic Levantine architecture in the zone. Also of interest are the parish house, the remains of the medieval wall, various noble houses or the 8 th -century fountain, without forgetting the nearby monasteries of Puilampa and Cambrón. 47 6 The building known as Casa Cortés is a large house of solid ashlar masonry of Gothic origin. In this case, more than in any other, we can speak of solemnity in the construction, as well as appropriate renovation in order to offer all the comforts of a hotel establishment. It houses a spacious coffee bar with a terrace in the lower area, as well as a wine cellar where a manual winepress can be seen. Its twenty double rooms are equipped with bathroom, television, telephone and a spacious wardrobe. On the mezzanine floor there are five rooms, a convention hall, restaurant and winery; on the last one are the rest of the rooms: simplicity and tranquillity for an excellent stay. Also worthy of mention are some details that are characteristic of a building of this type, such as the monumental doors, the stone deposit, a magnificent staircase or the views of the Calle Mayor. One of the key points in the offer of this hospedería is, without a doubt, its gastronomic proposal. The balance between true vanguard imagination and strict traditional application in cooking establishes a diverse offer that will satisfy the most demanding tastes. The main hall is impressive, with a seating capacity of at least two hundred, perfect surroundings for holding all types of social or company events.
