FESTIVAL EVROPSKOG FILMA EVROPSKOM FILMU JE POTREBNA TVRDOGLAVOST ZORICA DIMITRIJEVIĆ 23 EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL OPENED LAST NIGHT EUROPEAN FILM NEEDS STUBBORNNESS ZORICA DIMITRIJEVIĆ U vremenu kao što je današnje, u kojem se umetnost, pa i filmska, mere na osnovu toga koliko odgovaraju željama mase, ukusu publike i na osnovu kvota, reditelji moraju da pruže otpor. Evropskom filmu su potrebne individualnost, tvrdoglavost i hrabrost, jer samo tako će uspeti da se izbori, pronađe publiku i preživi rekao je austrijski reditelj Urlih Sajdl na otvaranju 23. Festivala evropskog filma Palić zahvaljujući se na nagradi Aleksandar Lifka, koju je dobio i srpski reditelj Slobodan Šijan. Sajdlu je priznanje uručio direktor Festivala Radoslav Zelenović pred mnogobrojnom publikom u Kongresnoj sali Velike terase u Paliću. Zelenović je napomenuo da je Sajdl prvi put na Paliću lično, ali da je on deo ovog festivala na kojem su i njegovi filmovi prikazivani i nagrađivani. Sajdl je priznao da mu je uvek teško da smisli prave reči za govor zahvalnosti, pa da se na vest o nekoj nagradi uplaši, pobegne u krevet i pokrije preko glave, ali da ovoga puta može iskreno da kaže kako je Lifka za njega velika čast jer znači da je primljen u društvo velikih reditelja kao što su Angelopulos, Mencl, Zanusi, Vajda, Kusturica... Kada me pitaju da li snimajući razmišljam o publici, moj odgovor je ne, a moj apel mladim rediteljima je: nemojte publici činiti ustupke, imajte poverenja u sebe, razmišljajte svojom glavom, jer samo onaj ko veruje u svoje ideje i zamisli uspeće da se ostvari, iako će morati da računa na gubitke, ali ako misleći o svom novom filmu počnete da mislite o publici, niste daleko od samocenzure poručio je Sajdl. Nagradu Aleksandar Lifka Šijanu je uručila predsednica Saveta Festivala Mira Banjac, pozdravljena burnim aplauzom, jednako kao i laureat. Šijan se zahvalio na lepoj i značajnoj nagradi. Značajnom je čine autori kojima je već dodeljivana, a lepom to što će od sada biti u njihovom društvu. Sebe smatram rediteljem filmske komedije, a ova nagrada i njeno dodeljivanje meni i mom opusu na neki način budi nadu da će biti više smeha u evropskom filmu izjavio je Šijan. Prethodno je pismo u ime Pokrajinskog sekretara za kulturu, javno informisanje i verske zajednice prof. Miroslava Štatkića pročitao dr Nebojša Kuzmanović, a publici se obratio gradonačelnik Subotice Bogdan Laban. Štatkić je istakao da je Festival evropskog filma Palić događaj za divljenje i dokaz da i pored teških vremena za kulturu kvalitet može da se održi zahvaljujući ambiciji, stručnosti i upornosti ljudi koji ga vode. Laban je ocenio da Festival od i usmerenja na evropski film beleži stalni uspon, a poslednjih godina postaje najznačajnije filmsko odredište u regionu. Ovaj festival je za Subotičane posebno značajan ne samo zato što je utemeljio filmske vrednosti, već i zbog susreta sa umetnicima, kao i zbog pratećih programa u vezi sa ekologijom, muzikom, turizmom. Uprkos teškoćama nećemo dozvoliti da nestane. Naprotiv. Festival u Paliću ima više nego divnu publiku, dugu tradiciju i dobar glas, što je dovoljna osnova za njegov dalji rast naglasio je Laban. Nevertheless, this time he can sincerely say that Lifka is a great honor since it means he became a part of great directors company together with Theo Angelopoulos, Jiri Menzel, Krzysztof Zanussi, Andrzej Wajda, Emir Kusturica... When somebody ask me if I think about audience while shooting, my answer is no, and I appeal to young directors: do not make compromises with audience, trust yourself, think by your own head, for only those who believe in their own ideas and plans will succeed as an authors, with certain loses though, but on the other hand compromises with audience lead to self-censorship said Seidl. President of the Festival s Council Mira Banjac assigned Aleksandar Lifka Award to Slobodan Šijan, accompanied with great applause. Šijan thanked on nice and significant award. Significant for the authors it was already assigned to and nice for he became a part of the company. I consider myself a film-comedy director, and the fact Award was assigned to me and my work somehow gives a hope that there will be more laughter in European film stated Šijan. Before this dr Nebojša Kuzmanović read a letter in behalf of prof. Miroslav Štatkić Provincial Secretary of Culture, and the present people were also addressed by Bogdan Laban the Major of Subotica. Štatkić underlined that European Film Festival Palić is an admirable happening, that proves that quality manifestations can cope with hard times for culture, thanks to ambition, knowledge and diligence of the organizers. Laban said that Festival from its beginnings of European orientation beck in 2003 has an increasing trend, and becomes the most significant film manifestation in the region. This Festival is important for the citizens of Subotica not only for film values it establishes but also for authors encounters and additional programmes with environmental issues, music, tourism. In spite the all difficulties we won t let it down. On the contrary. Palić Festival has more than wonderful audience, long tradition and European recognition which is enough for its further development - pointed Laban. Audience was presented with members of three juries, and programme director Miroslav Mogorović introduced Latvian actress from MELLOW MUD Elina Vaska, reminding public that this year s cinema in focus is Baltic cinema. He also asked present politicians to do their best so the Congress Hall gets air-conditioning. We are here and not at Summer Stage tonight because of rainy weather, but for further development Festival Palace is necessary. Now we have it but without air-conditioning said Mogorović, followed by great audience applause. Laban je podsetio da od godine, kada se opredelio da bude smotra evropskog filma, Festival stalno napreduje, te je u poslednjih nekoliko godina postao najznačajnije odredište filmskih stvaralaca u regionu, kao i da je svoju zvaničnu promociju imao na najznačajnijim evropskim smotrama sedme umetnosti. Filmski susreti su nešto sa čime se odrastalo, zabavljalo, nešto što se nestrpljivo očekuje svakog leta. Palićki festival je jedan od najznačajnijih festivala u regionu, koji je nastao i opstao u teškim vremenima dodao je Laban. - Svojim značajem se upisao na kulturnu mapu Evrope i nećemo dozvoliti da sa te mape nestane! OTVARANJE / OPENING Nebojša Kuzmanović, predstavnik Sekretarijata za kulturu Vojvodine PALIĆ PRKOSI VREMENU U ime Pokrajinske vlade i Sekretarijata za kulturu, javno informisanje i odnose sa verskim zajednicama Vojvodine, na svečanom otvaranju Festivala posetiocima se obratio dr Nebojša Kuzmanović, zamenik pokrajinskog sekretara za kulturu. Po njegovim rečima, Palićki festival je događaj za divljenje i još jedan dokaz da i pored teških vremena kada kultura posrće, zahvaljujući ambiciji i stručnosti ljudi koji ga vode, on može da se održi, raste i napreduje. To je dokaz da za kulturu nema granica. Zahvaljujući njemu, Subotica i Palić su postali prepoznatljiva mesta na kulturnoj mapi Evrope. Godinama unazad on je bio domaćin velikim imenima domaće i evropske produkcije, kao što su Mihalkov, Anderson, Žilnik... Ne samo zbog ovoga, nego i zbog duha filmske umetnosti, Pokrajinska vlada je prepoznala značaj ovog događaja. Nekada je ta podrška iskazana većim, nekada manjim sredstvima, ali svakako postoji želja da se on podrži i neguje. Film nije samo prikazivanje stvarnosti, već umetnost koja oplemenjuje dušu. J. L. Festival po kvalitetu biće sigurno među najboljima. Nekako se namestilo da Palić postane mesto gde se takmiče najbolji evropski filmovi smatra reditelj Sabolč Tolnai. Osim po sjajnim filmovima u 13 selekcija, Palić je postao i omiljeno mesto susreta filmskih profesionalnih delatnika. Ovo je mesto i prilika da se filmski radnici iz Evrope sretnu i u prijatnom ambijentu, bez gužve i tenzije, razmene misli, ideje, iskustva. Na drugim festivalima ljudi su raštrkani, žure i gube vreme u prevozu, a ovde je mir i harmonija, idealno mesto za susrete umetnika i to je najveća osobenost ove filmske smotre. Jednostavno, Palićki festival ima dušu. J. L. Dejan Zvekić, dugogodišnji direktor komunikacija Festivala FESTIVAL BOLJI NEGO IKAD Prema očekivanjima Dejana Zvekića, koji je u produkciji Festivala proveo deceniju i po, ovogodišnja filmska smotra umnogome će nadmašiti sve prethodne. Festival je programski bolji nego ikad, selekcija je programski i veća i kvalitetnija. A sa druge strane, budžet nikada nije bio manji i zato je uspeh svih koji rade u organizaciji Festivala još veći. Nadam se da loše vreme prvog dana neće uticati na sjajnu festivalsku atmosferu i da će ona narednih dana biti onakva kakvu Palić ima. Žao mi je što nisam mogao da uzmem godišnji odmor i da sve vreme provedem na Paliću, a po prvi put ću filmove gledati upravo na Festivalu, a ne pre ili posle. J. L. Takmičarski program / Official Selection POŽAR NA MORU / FIRE AT SEA / FUOCOAMMARE Režija: Gianfranco Rosi Italija, Francuska, Masterly and moving look at the migrant crisis Gianfranco Rosi s beautiful, mysterious and moving film is a documentary that looks like a neorealist classic. It is a portrait of Lampedusa, the Sicilian island where desperate migrants from Africa and the Middle East arrive each year hoping for a new life in Europe: 400,000 in the last 20 years. Around its coast thousands are drowned, or dragged dead from their grotesquely unsafe inflatables, burned or poisoned by fumes from the diesel with which their craft have had to be refuelled from jerry cans mid-journey, in choppy seas. Lampedusa has quietly become the tragic epicentre of the migrant experience: part holding tank, part cemetery. The title refers to a wartime Sicilian song that a local DJ is shown playing, about the bombing of an Italian warship in 1943 in port at Lampedusa, prior to the island s surrender to the allies, and how the flames lit up the night: Che fuoco a mare che c è stasera ( What fire at sea there is tonight ). Bradshaw Guardian Mira Banjac, predsednica Saveta Festivala FESTIVAL BITAN KAO REPER U današnje vreme teško je bilo koju manifestaciju kulture dovesti do željenog nivoa, ali imali smo retku sreću da je ovoga puta Evropa pomogla naš festival, što je lepo. Naravno, i Republika, Pokrajina i Grad Subotica su pomogli i nekako smo se pokupili da se Festival održi. Ali ono što je najbitnije jeste da smo i u tom posnom prostoru uspeli da sačuvamo visoki kvalitet, da dovedemo zaista prvorazredne filmove i prvorazredne goste. Mislim da ovaj festival zaslužuje više nego što ga društvo primećuje, jer je istinski, pravi festival koji s pravom nosi ime evropski. Dužnost predsednice Saveta Festivala meni je izuzetno prijatna i velika mi je čast da upoznam sve te ljude. Mi nemamo često prilike da vidimo baš velike reditelje. Znamo njihove filmove, ali ovde možemo i lično da sretnemo značajne goste. Pored toga, ovaj festival mi je bitan kao reper, da vidim gde smo mi u toj novoj estetici filmskog izraza i nove kinematografije. Inače poznajemo velike, ali ovde vidimo da ima mnogo divnih malih kinematografija koje su isplivale i koje su značajne, pogotovo sa mladim autorima.to je ono što je za mene na Paliću važno i što mi čini radost. Z. D. GLEDALI SMO Majstorski i dirljiv pogled na migrantsku krizu Prelep, majstorski i dirljiv film Đanfranka Rozija je dokumentarac koji liči na neorealistički klasik. U pitanju je portret Lampeduze, Sicilijanskog ostrva na koje stižu očajni migranti iz Afrike i Srednjeg Istoka svake godine u nadi da će naći novi život u Evropi: njih u poslednjih 20 godina. Hiljade ih se udave kod njegovih obala ili ih izvuku mrtve iz groteskno nebezbednih čamaca za naduvavanje, izgorele ili otrovane isparenjima od dizela, koji su na nemirnom moru sipali iz kanistera da dopune rezervoar. Lampeduza je tiho postala tragični epicentar migrantskog iskustva: delom rezervoar, delom groblje. Naslov se odnosi na sicilijansku pesmu o bombardovanju italijanskog ratnog broda u luci na Lampeduzi pre predaje ostrva saveznicima i o tome kako je plamen osvetlio noć: Che fuoco a mare che c è stasera ( Kakva je vatra na moru noćas ), a čuje se u filmu kada je pušta lokalni DJ. Bredšo Gardijan Takmičarski program / Official Selection SNOVI / MELLOW MUD / ES ESMU ŠEIT Režija: Renārs Vimba Letonija, Nesalomiva Močvarni pejzaž ispunjen žitkim blatom pozornica je na kojoj tinejdžerka Raja s mukom odrasta preuzimajući na sebe odluke preteške za njena mlada pleća. Otac nije živ, a majka je daleko u Londonu; sa bakom se ne slaže i mora da se brine o mlađem bratu; dakle sve je u funkciji da je povuče na dno kako bi ostala zaglibljena u kaljuzi letonske provincije. Međutim, Rajina mladost i svetao ten samo dodatno ističu snagu karaktera koji isijava iz svakog njenog postupka - od hrabre odluke da ne prijavi smrt starateljke pa do takmičenja iz engleskog jezika koje shvata kao Stefan Arsenijević, član žirija Glavnog programa AUTORI IZ EVROPE SE OVDE SPRIJATELJE Mislim da je fantastično za ovaj festival to što svake godine sve više raste. Program 23. izdanja stvarno nudi neke od najboljih filmova koji su izašli na najvećim festivalima ove godine. Uvek je zanimljiv, uvek je relevantan, a ono što je posebno bitno, a što je retko u ovoj zemlji, Palić je mesto susretanja. Veliki je broj gostiju, a mnogi od njih iz Evrope se upravo ovde upoznaju, pa i sprijateljuju u divnoj atmosferi koja krasi ovaj festival. Tako su se glumica Franciska Vajs i reditelj Ditrih Brugeman sreli na Paliću i to je izrodilo njihovu saradnju koja je rezultirala filmom koji je bio u glavnom programu Berlinala i dobio Srebrnog medveda za scenario. Posle dugog niza godina povezanosti sa Festivalom na različite načine, ovoga puta na Paliću sam u novoj ulozi, kao član žirija i to sa četiri koleginice. U drugom žiriju su tri žene, dakle ja sam jedini muškarac u oba žirija. Da se našalim, Palićki festival je baš ozbiljno shvatio političku korektnost, ali za mene je to čisto uživanje. Z. Prva ljubav koju doživljava sa nastavnikom je ne sprečava da mu uzme novac koji joj je neophodan za ostvarenje cilja, i čini nam se kako je nikakva nedaća ne može pokolebati. Snažan utisak na gledaoca ostavlja upečatljiva metafora o kupovini novih patika mlađem bratu kao poziv na hrabro i prerano odrastanje. B. Stanić Unbreakable A marshy landscape filled with mellow mud represents the stage where teenaged Raya is growing up in, taking upon herself too hard decisions which burden her young spirit. Her father is no longer alive, and her mother is far away, in London; she doesn t get along with her grandmother and needs to take care of her younger brother; everything is lined up so that she is pulled down to the bottom and left stuck in the silt of Latvian province. However, Raya s youth and fair complexion only amplify the strength of character which shines on from every one of her actions from the brave decision to not report the death of their caretaker to participation in an English language competition which she sees as an opportunity to find her mother. The first love she experiences with her teacher doesn t stop her to take the money she needs to complete her goals from him, and we get a sensation that she will not flinch at anything. A strong impression on the viewer is an impressive metaphor of buying new trainers to her younger brother as an invitation to a growing up bravely much too soon. B. Stanić

JELENA LEMAJIĆ Sagu o hrabroj i odlučnoj devojci, koju je život naterao da odraste preko noći i donese važne odluke, od kojih bi prezali i mnogo stariji, publika je sinoć netremice gledala u Kongresnoj sali Velike terase u Paliću, gde je prikazan letonski film SNOVI reditelja Renarsa Vimbe. Ulogu Raje, devojke koja krupnim koracima gazi ka svome cilju, maestralno je iznela mlada glumica Elina Vaska, debitantkinja na velikom platnu. Po čemu se Raja razlikuje od ostalih tinejdžerki? Raja je jaka i nezavisna mlada žena. Sve ciljeve koje sebi postavi ostvaruje sama, bez ikakve pomoći sa strane. Ona ne veruje nikome osim sebi, što je, istovremeno, i dobro i loše, jer tolika tvrdoglavost može da vodi ka sve većim poteškoćama. Pošto se nikada niko nije brinuo o njoj dok je odrastala, njena ličnost je gruba. To je upravo zbog teških okolnosti u kojima se većina tinejdžera nikada ne nađe. Uprkos svemu, ona je veliki borac. Raja na pragu punoletstva donosi tešku odluku, koja će promeniti njen i život njenog brata. Kako Vi ocenjujete taj njen potez? Kada pomislim na taj čin, mislim na tačku u kojoj se dete i odrasla osoba spajaju u jednoj ličnosti. Odluka da se sakrije bakin leš, i pritom se nada da će nastaviti da živi kao ranije, za mene je apsurdna. Ali znate, deca ponekad misle ako zaboravim to, kao da se nikada nije dogodilo. Ali, onaj odrasli deo u Raji uvek ima plan. Šteta je što ne razmišlja uvek o posledicama. Njena majka radi u inostranstvu, da li je to još jedan problem sa kojim se suočava letonsko društvo, da ljudi masovno napuštaju svoju zemlju u potrazi za zaradom u nekoj drugoj državi? To je prilično veliki problem u Letoniji, kao i u celoj Istočnoj Evropi. Mnoga deca su ostavljena sa svojim babama i dedama, dok njihovi roditelji zarađuju novac u inostranstvu. Neki ostaju u sirotištu, jer niko od njihovih rođaka ne želi da se stara o njima. Tokom snimanja sam mnogo razmišljala o dve sestre i njihovom malom bratu, koje sam upoznala u jednom sirotištu. Iako su bili prepušteni sami sebi, rekli su mi kako vole svoju majku, koja ih, pak, nikada nije pozvala. Jednog dana sestre su našle fotografije majke na internetu, kako drži bebu u naručju, a pored nje stoji njima potpuno nepoznat čovek. Nikad nisam mislila da žena može tako da povredi svoju decu. Sada su obe sestre i mlađi brat usvojeni i žive u SAD. U jednom sirotištu upoznala sam dve sestre i njihog malog brata, koji su jednog dana našli fotografije svoje majke na internetu, kako drži bebu u naručju, a pored nje stoji njima potpuno nepoznat čovek S obzirom da prilikom snimanja filma još niste studirali, da li Vam je bilo teško da iznesete jedan ovako složen i jak lik? To uopšte nije bilo teško i sve je došlo nekako prirodno. Kada smo obišli sve lokacije gde se snimao film, našla sam ključ za otključavanje Rajine ličnosti. Sve u vezi sa njom ima veze sa prirodom. Ona je divlja kao priroda koja je okružuje. Potpuno nezavisna i spremna da zaštiti svoje najmilije kada je to potrebno. Ne želi da joj iko pomaže ili je žali, ona prosto uzima stvari u svoje ruke. Iako smo odrastale u tako različitim okolnostima, Raja i ja imamo neke zajedničke osobine, kao što su svrsishodnost i želja da sve postignemo same. Šteta što ne mogu da budem tako tvrdoglava kao Raja. Saga about brave and determined girl, who had to mature overnight in order to make tough decisions, scaring for even much older people, spelled the audience on last night s screening, in Congress Hall at Great Terrace, of MELLOW MUD by Renārs Vimba. The role of Raya, girl who determinedly walks toward her goal, was excellently performed by young actress Elina Vaska, debutant on a big screen. Why is Raya different from other teenagers? Raya is strong and independent young woman. All goals that she sets for herself are also reached by her alone without any help from outside. She doesn t really trust anyone except herself. At the same time these characteristics are good and bad. If one is as stubborn as Raya it only leads to more and more difficulties. But being on her own and doing what she wants to do is what Raya seeks the most. As she never really had one to look after her while growing up, her personality is tough. It s all due to difficult conditions that most of teenagers don t have to deal with. But over all she is such a fighter. At the beginning of her adult age Raya makes tough decision that will change her and her brother s lives. What do You think of her act? When I think of this act I find it as a point where child and adult meet in one person. What I mean with this is that such decision to hide grandma s dead body and to hope that she will be able to continue living like she would like to, is just an absurd. But you know it s just the way children sometimes think - if I forget about what I did it has never happened. What is more of an adult in Raya - she always has a plan. Such a pity she doesn t always thinking about consequences. Her mother works abroad. Is it another social problem, that people leave country in quest for jobs? It s quite huge issue her in Latvia and actually in all of Eastern Europe. Lot of children in Latvia are left here with their grandparents while their parents are earning money abroad. Some are left in orphanage because none of their relatives are willing to take care of them. While shooting film I was thinking a lot about two sisters and their little brother whom I met in one orphanage. Even though left alone they still told me how they love their mother. She never even called them. One day both of sisters found pictures of their mother in the internet. They saw their mother holding a little baby in her hands and just right next to her was a man (stranger for these kids). I could never imagine that woman can harm her children like this. Now both sisters and little brother are adopted and living in USA. You weren t professional actor when You had to present such a difficult and strong character. Was it hard to You? Do You have anything in common with the character you played? It was not difficult at all. Somehow everything came to me so naturally. Once I visited all shooting locations there I found my key for unlocking Raya s personality. With Raya it s all about nature. Walking around Raya s house and seeing all these beautiful landscapes made me to understand what type of person Raya is. She is just as wild as nature. Completely independent and ready to protect her beloved ones if needed. Not willing anyone to help her or feel bad for her, she is just taking action in her hands. Even though growing up in such a different conditions, me and character of Raya do share some common characteristics like being purposefulness, desiring to reach everything on our own. Such a pity that I m not as stubborn as Raya. Priznanje koje se dodeljuje za izuzetan rad na polju nezavisnog filma i jedinstvenu autorsku poetiku izgrađenu van glavnih tokova filmske industrije Godini će biti uručeno večeras pred početak projekcija u Glavnom programu. Laureat je zaslužio nagradu svojom osebujnom i jedinstvenom filmskom praksom izraženom kroz brojne radove nastale tokom bogate pedesetogodišnje karijere. Kratkim eksperimentalnim, nenarativnim filmovima, među kojima se ističu GRATINI- RANI MOZAK PUPILIJE FERKE- VERK i NEDOSTAJE MI SONJA HENIE Godina je postao jedna od ključnih ličnosti jugoslovenskog crnog talasa, ali je istovremeno ušao i u polje konceptualne umetnosti sarađujući sa neoavangardnim umetnicima tog doba. Dokumentarnim radom oličenim u filmovima ZDRAVI LJUDI ZA RAZONODU i O LJU- BAVNIM VEŠTINAMA ILI FILM SA KVADRATOM reditelj je zamalo dopao zatvora a filmovi su bili bunkerisani. Status koji danas uživa među poštovaocima sedme umetnosti svakako je stekao i kao direktor fotografije u Žilnikovim RANIM RADOVIMA ili Zafranovićevoj OKUPACIJI U 26 SLIKA. Retrospektiva njegovih filmova biće upriličena u bioskopu Abazija 19. jula. Podsetimo, nagrada Underground Spirit se dodeljuje od godine, a dosadašnji dobitnici su: francuski umetnik F. Ž. 4 4 PROGRAMI / PROGRAMS RADIONICA ZA MLADE KRITIČARE I PANEL O FILMSKOJ KRITICI YOUNG FILM CRITICS WORKSHOP & FILM CRITICS PANEL Radionica filmske kritike za mlade učesnike biće održana od 18. do 20. jula na Paliću, kao najznačajniji po trajanju i obimu prateći program 23. Festivala evropskog filma. Radionica se na FEF-u organizuje drugi put, u nastojanju da Festival postane mesto okupljanja stručnjaka iz sveta filmske kritike, uredništva i novinarstva kako bi svoja znanja, iskustva i preporuke preneli mladim kritičarima i novinarima iz regiona. Ovoga puta šestoro mladih kritičara iz Srbije ima priliku da radi sa troje saradnika, kritičara i urednika uticajnih evropskih i svetskih časopisa. Predavači su: Karmen Grej (London/ Berlin), bivša filmska urednica magazina Dazed & Confused, nezavisna kritičarka za The Guardian, Screen International, Sight & Sound, The Calvert Journal i druge, zatim Tristan Primagi (Estonija), filmski urednik magazina za umetnost i kulturu Sirp, i Vladan Petković (Srbija), koji je od dopisnik magazina Screen International za ex-yu teritoriju, a radi i za sajt cineuropa.org i mnoge srpske, hrvatske i slovenačke medije. Cilj je da učesnici steknu novinarske i kritičarske veštine kroz grupni i individualni rad sa predavačima i da iskuse filmski festival iz prvog reda. FEF želi da doprinese jačanju njihovog samopouzdanja u radu i lakšem snalaženju na lokalnoj i globalnoj sceni filmske industrije. U okviru FEF-a biće održan i panel posvećen filmskoj kritici, sa pitanjima u kakvom stanju se danas nalazi, koliko utiče na gledanost evropskih filmova, kome se obraća i kakve joj izazove postavlja razvoj digitalnih tehnologija. Učesnici panela su aktivni kritičari koji se svakodnevno sreću sa problemima i prednostima zanata bez kojeg ni sama kinematografija gotovo da ne može da postoji. Film Critics Workshop, the most significant Festival s additional program, concerning its duration and the scope, lasts 3 days, from 18 to 20 July, Film Critics Workshop is for the second time organized within EFF Palić, with an aim to make the Festival a place of film critics, editors and journalists gathering, in order to deliver their knowledge, experience and advice to their younger colleagues from the region. The result of the efforts is this year s 6 attendants young film critics from Serbia, have an opportunity to cooperate with columnists, critics and editors of influential European and international Magazines. Workshop lecturers are Carmen Gray - London/Berlin. Vladan Petković A graduate in Management in Culture, Theatre and Radio at Belgrade Faculty of Drama Arts, he has been the Screen International correspondent for the territories of former Yugoslavia since He also regularly contributes to the website cineuropa.org and several Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian media. The Workshop aims to help attendants gain journalistic and critics skills trough group and individual work with their lecturers, and to experience film festival activities directly. This way we wish to strengthen young critics self-confidence in their future work and positioning in the regional and global film industry scene. State of European film critics, its influence on European film audience, who it addresses anyway and what are the challenges of digital media for cinema journalism these are some of the panel themes dedicated to film critics. Member of the panel are active film critics who are faced with issues and advantages of this art, necessary for the cinema itself, on the daily basis. EYE TO EYE WITH EUROPEAN INDEPENDENT YOUTH FILM A new selection Eye To Eye at the 23 edition of the upcoming European Film Festival Palić is Serbian premiere of five interesting European full-length feature films dedicated to young audience. CHEER UP (Christy Garland) is an extraordinary documentary drama about unsuccessful Finnish cheerleaders that in a peculiar way vogue the dividing line between comedy and tragedy. This documentary follows the worst Finnish cheerleader team that struggles with teenage problems and constant failures. THE LESSON (Kristina Grozeva, Petar Valchanov) is rewarded feature drama about teacher in a small Bulgarian town who tries to give children an example and teach them not to steal while at the same time gets into huge financial problems that lead her life onto the wrong way. Australian film ONE OF US (Stephan Richter) follows two teenage boys whose life is changing drastically after they robbed a supermarket, when a moment of freedom gets caught by the sever life reality. Another Australian piece, fascinating documentary FROM CALIGARI TO HITLER (Rüdiger Suchsland) is based on the celebrated work of the same name from 1947, by sociologist Siegfried Kracauer, about Weimar Republic cinema (Germany between 1918 and 1933). Film is full of irresistible inserts from cult films, including silent horror THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI (Robert Wiene). Fifth film of the programme is SUPERNOVA (Tamar van den Dop), a refreshingly unusual and cheerful story about growing up and sexuality of fifteen-year-old girl and a traffic accident that changes her life. Eye To Eye Programme is going to be judged by five young film lovers jury, attendants of Open University Film School and Film Club: Lara Majkić, Sara Simović, Pavle Menalo, Saša Papić and Paszterkó Viktor. Awarded film will be distributed through high schools in Subotica, Novi Sad and Belgrade. Eye To Eye Project is supported by European Commission through Creative Europe programme and MEDIA subprogramme. It is realized in cooperation with French company Wide Management as the programme carrier. Eye to Eye is Pan-European initiative dedicated to young high school audience, aiming to increase independent European film viewership. OČI U OČI SA EVROPSKIM NEZAVISNIM FILMOVIMA ZA MLADE Nova selekcija Oči u oči 23. Festivala evropskog filma Palić predstaviće, premijerno u Srbiji, pet zanimljivih evropskih dugometražnih filmova koji su po temama namenjeni mladoj publici. Na programu je finsko-kanadski NAVIJAČICE (CHEER UP), u režiji Kristi Garland, odlična doku-drama o neuspešnim finskim navijačicama koja na pomalo uvrnut način zamagljuje granicu između smešnog i tragičnog. Ovaj dokumentarac prati najgori finski tim navijačica koji se bori sa tinejdžerskim problemima i konstantnim neuspesima. Očekuje nas i bugarsko-grčka LEKCIJA, u režiji Kristine Groceve i Petra Valhanova, nagrađivana igrana drama o učiteljici u malom bugarskom gradu koja na konkretnom primeru pokušava da decu u razredu nauči da ne kradu, dok sa druge strane upada u teške finansijske probleme koji njen život odvode na stranputicu. Tu je i austrijsko ostvarenje JE- DAN OD NAS, u režiji Štefana Rihtera, koje prati dvojicu tinejdžera čiji se život drastično menja posle pljačke supermarketa kada momenat dečačke slobode sustiže surova životna realnost, kao i fascinantan nemački dokumentarni film OD KALIGARIJA DO HITLERA, u režiji Rudigera Zuhslanda, baziran na istoimenoj proslavljenoj studiji sociologa Zigfrida Kracauera iz godine o kinematografiji u republici Vajmar (Nemačka, između i godine), prepun neodoljivih inserata, od kojih mnogi, uključujući pomenuti nemi horor film KABINET DOKTORA KALIGA- RIJA, imaju danas kultni status. Peti i poslednji film u ovom programu je belgijsko-nemačko-holandska SUPERNOVA, u režiji Tamara van den Dopa, osvežavajuće neobična i vedra priča o odrastanju i seksualnom sazrevanju petnaestogodišnje devojke i jednoj saobraćajnoj nesreći koja će promeniti njen život. Program Oči u oči vrednovaće žiri od pet mladih filmofila, polaznika Filmske škole i Filmskog kluba na Otvorenom univerzitetu u Subotici: Lara Majkić, Sara Simović, Pavle Menalo, Saša Papić i Viktor Pasterko. Nagrađeni film biće prikazan mladoj publici u oktobru ove godine u saradnji sa srednjim školama u Subotici, Novom Sadu i Beogradu, gde će publika imati prilike da razgovara sa autorom nagrađenog filma na teme stvaranja filma, odrastanja i problema mladih u savremenom društvu. Projekat Oči u oči podržan je od strane Evropske komisije kroz program Kreativna Evropa i potprogram Media. Program se realizuje u saradnji sa francuskom kompanijom Wide Management kao nosiocem projekta. Oči u oči je panevropska inicijativa posvećena mladoj publici srednjoškolskog i studentskog uzrasta sa ciljem veće vidljivosti evropskog nezavisnog filma. SCHOOL OF FILM AT OPEN UNIVERSITY This is the second year Open University in Subotica organizes School of Film aiming to make seventh art popular among youth. About 30 workshop attendants, mainly high school and university students gained necessary knowledge of film language, feature and documentary directing, screenplay writing, editing, photography, lights and audio recording during these two years of the School. Led by experienced film director Szabolcs Tolnai and documentary director Zoltán Siflis, attendants cooperated on their own film projects that will soon be presented to the public. - At the beginning and during the whole first year, we did lot of theory, but then we realized attendants need more practical work that can lead them to some theoretical conclusions. explains Szabolcs Tolnai. Workshops took place twice a week and each time we tried to film something. Thanks to Palić Film Festival and Danilo Kiš foundation there are many young people who go for film, so now we have a dozen of fellow citizens at film academies in Novi Sad, Belgrade and Budapest. There are many talented young people, with great ideas, and although they are not experienced, they do some projects as good as professionals. Beside Tolnai and Siflis, lecturers for some specific film fields were Szilárd Antal (directing), Ákos Kovács (photography, lights), Darko Maletin (editing), Gábor Ripli (sound) and others. Workshops started in February, and lasted only three months instead of six, because of lack of promised financial means. We worked until summer just as enthusiasts, in order to finish some ongoing projects and we will certainly find a way to present them to the public since they really deserve that. says Tolnai. J. L. ŠKOLA FILMA NA OTVORENOM UNIVERZITETU Drugu godinu zaredom na Otvorenom univerzitetu u Subotici održava se Škola filma, čiji je prvenstveni cilj popularizacija sedme umetnosti kod mladih. Na radionicama je, tokom ove dve godine, učestvovalo oko 30 polaznika, mahom srednjoškolaca i studenata, koji su kroz teorijski i praktičan rad stekli neophodna znanja iz oblasti filmskog jezika, režije igranog i dokumentarnog filma, pisanja scenarija, montaže, kamere, rasvete i snimanja zvuka. Pod budnim okom filmskog reditelja Sabolča Tolnaija i reditelja dokumentarnih filmova Zoltana Šifliša polaznici su zajednički radili na stvaranju sopstvenih filmskih projekata koji će kasnije biti predstavljeni široj javnosti. Na početku, odnosno tokom cele prve godine, dosta smo se bazirali na teorijskom znanju, ali smo onda uvideli da njima ne treba suvo teorijsko znanje, nego što više prakse. Zbog toga je ove godine akcenat stavljen na praktičan rad, a trudili smo se da putem njega stignemo i do teorijskih znanja objasnio je Tolnai, i dodao: Radionice su se održavale dva puta nedeljno i na svakoj smo se trudili da nešto snimimo i uradimo. Zahvaljujući Palićkom festivalu i Fondaciji Danilo Kiš sve više mladih okreće se filmu i sada imamo sigurno desetak Subotičana koji studiraju na akademijama u Novom Sadu, Beogradu i Budimpešti. Imamo mnogo talentovane omladine koja ima sjajne ideje i, iako nema iskustva, pravi projekte koji ih mogu svrstati u rang sa profesionalcima. Uz Tolnaija i Šifliša, znanja iz pojedinih oblasti sedme umetnosti prenosili su i Silard Antal (režija), Akoš Kovač (kamera, svetlo), Darko Maletin (montaža), Gabor Ripli (zvuk) i drugi gostujući predavači. Radionice su počele u februaru a, iako je bilo planirano da traju pola godine, zbog nedostatka obećanih finansijskih sredstava one su trajale samo tri meseca. Do leta smo radili zahvaljujući entuzijazmu svih nas, kako bi započeti projekti bili završeni. Trudićemo se da nađemo način da oni ugledaju svetlost dana, jer to zaista zaslužuju istakao je Tolnai. Festivala evropskog filma odgovorni su Petar Mitrić i Sabolč Tolnai. Osim o programu i njegovim ključnim odrednicama, Mitrić govori i o pojedinim pitanjima vezanim za stanje u evropskoj kinematografiji. Zbog čega bi publika trebalo da dođe na ovogodišnji Festival? Šta nudi program, koji su bili kriterijumi za selekciju filmova? Program Festivala nudi presek savremene evropske kinematografije. Uspeli smo da dovedemo gotovo sve filmove koje smo planirali i više nemamo prepreke kakve su postojale pre desetak godina. Osnovni kriterijum za selekciju bio je umetnički kvalitet filmova. To nisu dopadljiva ostvarenja, to su veoma slojeviti filmovi, umetnička dela koja govore o savremenom životu u Evropi jasnije i detaljnije od hiljade vesti u medijima. Autori odabranih filmova imaju kritički odnos prema aktuelnim društvenim događajima, a hrabro se hvataju u koštac s različitim temama poput ljudskih odnosa, politike, migranata... Jedna od tema koja se ove godine nametnula kao veoma prisutna je odnos roditelja i dece. Taj odnos je danas poremećen kako zbog borbe za egzistencijom, tako i zbog uticaja novih tehnologija na život porodice. Takođe, čini se da su roditelji i deca žrtve političkih igara u svetu, od migrantske krize do savremenog terorizma koji je usmeren protiv običnih ljudi, dok su nekad mete bili političari. Porodica danas nije ono što je bila tokom istorije kinematografije. U kom je stanju evropska kinematografija, koji su trendovi najuočljiviji? U većini bioskopa širom Evrope potpuno dominira holivudska produkcija, čak i u razvijenijim zemljama koje neguju svoju kulturu i umetnost. Međutim, umetnički film ima i dalje svoje uporište u Evropi, od toga se ne odustaje. Glavne nagrade u Berlinu, Kanu, Veneciji i Roterdamu osvajaju upravo takvi filmovi, dela koja imaju šta da kažu. A čini se i da publika postaje sve zahtevnija, nije više dovoljno ponuditi im spektakle, eksplozije i specijalne efekte. Jednostavno, film nije zabava, on ima svoj umetnički kontekst. Javljaju se i neki novi koncepti u stvaranju filmova. Meni je zanimljiv koncept mladih reditelja u Rusiji i Mađarskoj, koji je nastao usled političke i klanovske kontrole državnih filmskih fondova gde autori sve češće snimaju filmove u sopstvenoj produkciji, uz manje budžete, zadržavajući tako potpunu stvaralačku slobodu. Jedna od tendencija u očuvanju autorske slobode jeste i online fundraising ili crowdfunding. Tema koja se ove godine nametnula kao veoma prisutna je odnos roditelja i dece Jedna od zanimljivijih selekcija je Mladi duh Evrope koji nam tradicionalno predstavlja nove tendencije u filmu... Ovaj program je već 13 godina oaza novih tendencija u filmu i prikazujemo ono što kinematografiju vodi dalje. Aktuelna su i pitanja pobune i slobode. Kada gledamo unazad, godinama su se teškom mukom osvajale neke slobode, kojih se danas tako lako odričemo. Iako se današnji svet busa u slobode, kao najveće tekovine, ispada da je najveća tekovina ovog vremena u stvari konformizam kojeg je retko ko spreman da se odrekne. Filmovi iz programa Mladi duh Evrope imaju oštrinu pobune i želju za razbijanjem utvrđenih obrazaca. Izuzimajući javne servise, evropskog filma gotovo da ni nema na televiziji, retki su i u većini bioskopa. U čemu vidite razlog za takvo stanje? Postoji još jedna gora stvar, na koju je ukazivao Radoslav Zelenović, dok je bio direktor Jugoslovenske kinoteke, a to je da su na većini televizija ukinute odjavne špice filmova, čime se olako brišu ljudi koji su učestvovali u njihovom stvaranju, a sve zarad reklama. To je nešto što boli. Kada je u pitanju ponuda, veliki marketinški magovi nam nude samo one sadržaje koji nas čine još većim potrošačima. U toj igri ispaštaju kultura i umetnost. FILM NIJE ZABAVA, ON IMA SVOJ UMETNIČKI KONTEKST: PETAR MITRIĆ Responsible for the selection of films the audience will be able to watch in Official Selection, Parallels and Encounters and Young Spirit of Europe of 23rd European Film Festival Palić are Petar Mitrić and Sabolcs Tolnai. Aside from the programme and its key features, Mitrić also talks about certain questions dealing with the state of European cinema. Why should the audience attend this year s edition of the Festival? What does the programme offer and what was the criteria for the selection of films? The Festival s programme is offering a cross-section of contemporary European cinematography. We were able to acquire almost all of the films that we were planning to and we are no longer running into obstacles that used to exist ten years ago. The main criteria for the seleftion was the artistic quality of films. These films aren t likable - they are multi-layered pieces of artwork that are telling us about contemporary life in Europe more clearly and in more detail than thousands of media news. The authors of the selected films posses a critical distance towards current social events and are bravely tackling diverse topics such as mutual relationships, politics, immigrants... One of the topics that repeatedly presented itself this year is relationship between parents and children. Nowadays, that relationship is deranged due to the struggle for survival, but also due to the modern technology influencing family life. Also, it seems that parents and children are becoming victims of global political games - from migrant crisis to modern-day terrorism which now targets a common citizen instead of a politician. Family today isn t what it was earlier in cinema history. What is the state of European cinema and which tendencies are the most prominent? The majority of European cinemas is being dominated by Hollywood production, even in such developed countries known to cherish their own culture and art. However, the artistic cinema still has its stronghold in Europe, that s not easily going to change. The main awards in Berlin, Cannes, Venice and Rotterdam are being awarded to these types of films, films that have something to say. And it seems that the audience is becoming more and more demanding - spectacles, explosions and special effects are no longer enough. Simply put, film is not entertainment, it has its own artistic context. Also appearing are certain new concepts in filmmaking. I find it very interesting, this concept of young film directors in Russia and Hungary (that started out because of political and clan-like control of state cinematography funds) in which the authors are more and more often shooting films in their own production, with lesser budget, but maintaining a complete artistic freedom. One of the tendencies in preserving the artistic freedom is online fundraising or crowdfunding. One of the topics that repeatedly presented itself this year is relationship between parents and children One of the more interesting Festival selections is Young Spirit of Europe that, traditionally, brings us new tendencies in cinema... For 13 years this programme has been an oasis for new tendencies in film and it continues to bring all of which moves the cinema forward. The main topics are the questions of rebellion and freedom. If you look back, you can notice how certain freedoms have been gradually won over the years - with a great deal of effort. Today, we are giving them up way to easy. Even though the world of today is boasting about freedom as its biggest legacy - it turns out that the biggest legacy of our time is, in fact, conformism - that we are seldom willing to give away. Films from the selection Young Spirit of Europe posses a sharp sense of rebellion and a desire to break the established patterns. 6 6 INTERVJU / INTERVIEW INTERVJU: ILIJA TATIĆ, DIREKTOR OTVORENOG UNIVERZITETA AUTORI SE VRAĆAJU NA PALIĆ I Kao organizatorima imponuje nam što publika konstantno prepoznaje vrednost našeg programa z godine u godinu budžet Festivala evropskog filma Palić sve više postaje jedna od najznačajnijih tema kada je reč o njegovoj organizaciji. Prava je sreća, naime, što je evra sa konkursa programa Kreativna Evropa i potprograma Media donekle nadomestila 10 miliona dinara, za koliko su Grad i Pokrajina umanjili finansiranje Festivala. Razgovor s Ilijom Tatićem, direktorom Otvorenog univerziteta, izvršnim producentom Festivala, počinjemo, dakle, upravo na ovu temu: Godinama se već suočavamo sa značajnim smanjenjem budžeta, a on je ove godine drastično smanjen. Svakako da je pozitivna stvar što je Kreativna Evropa, pod programom Media, prepoznala značaj Festivala, kao manifestacije sa visokim kvalitetom i ogromnim potencijalom i samim tim njihova finansijska pomoć nam je omogućila da zajedno sa standardnim donatorima iznesemo organizaciju kako to ova manifestacija i zaslužuje. Ali, svakako da nije sve u novcu, jer mnogo stvari ima za razvijanje Festivala, a koje su u direktnoj korelaciji sa razvijanjem odnosa sa različitim institucijama, drugim festivalima i raznim partnerima na evropskom nivou, što smo sve poslednjih godina unapredili. Da bismo to dalje razvijali, mi moramo da održavamo kvalitet našeg festivala. To je osnovni preduslov da nastavimo da se krećemo u značajnim evropskim kulturnim krugovima. Kada smo u tome već uspeli, bilo bi suludo da za to manjka podrške u našoj zemlji i da zbog toga izgubimo dragulj evropske kulture kakav je Palić. Kao i ranijih godina, Festival je faktički počeo prikazivanjem filmova iz ciklusa Omaž programa i Klasika na trgu. Kako ste zadovoljni zanimanjem publike? Veoma sam zadovoljan, jer je reč o filmovima koji su prošli bioskopski život. Oni su ponovo privukli publiku i time svakako moramo da budemo zadovoljni. Kao organizatorima, imponuje nam što ljudi konstantno prepoznaju vrednost našeg programa, odnosno izbor koji imamo svake godine. Tu bih se odmah nadovezao i na Glavni (takmičarski) program, kao i na Paralele i sudare i Mladi duh Evrope, gde ćemo videti veoma zanimljiva ostvarenja. Program je izuzetno kvalitetan i to će se sigurno videti na kraju godine kada Evropska filmska akademija bude izdala svoje liste najznačajnijih filmova. Uveren sam da će među njima biti još više filmova koji su prikazani na Paliću, nego prošle godine, i zbog toga verujem da će publika moći da vidi najbolje što je Evropa mogla da ponudi ove godine. Osim gostiju Festivala, ima li najava i o turističkim dolascima na Palić zbog ove manifestacije? Što se nas tiče, mi smo, naravno, učinili sve da dovedemo što više filmskih profesionalaca na Palić i možemo da budemo zadovoljni odzivom. Posebno bih istakao desetak značajnih kritičara koji će doći na Palić, jer je reč o ljudima mlađe i srednje generacije, dakle o kritičarima koji su u punom zamahu i koji su na neki način reprezenti evropske kritike. Suvišno je, naravno, govoriti o rediteljima i glumcima koji će pokriti možda 80 odsto filmova. Ne bih nikoga posebno izdvajao, jer će ih biti ZLATKO ROMIĆ mnogo. Sve su to dobitnici značajnih nagrada, priznati autori od kojih se neki i vraćaju na Palić. To nam je posebno dragoceno, jer negujemo taj odnos da se ljudi koji su jednom bili uvek rado vraćaju kod nas. To, naime, govori i o tome da im se Festival dopada i da ga visoko cene zbog njegovih umetničkih dometa. Kada je reč o publici sa strane, nadam se da će gosti, pre svega iz susednih zemalja doći da posete Festival. Nažalost, mi tu ne možemo previše da uradimo, jer jedna je stvar našeg marketinga, a druga jednog šireg koncepta samog Grada i Održavanje kvaliteta našeg Festivala je osnovni preduslov da nastavimo da se krećemo u značajnim evropskim kulturnim krugovima Palića kao turističkog mesta i njihovog zadatka da promovišu Festival kao jedan od centralnih događaja i za turističku sezonu i za Palić uopšte. Tu treba raditi konstantno, odnosno da se Festival najavljuje cele godine, treba da se izbrendira Grad i da se bude prisutan i u medijima i na svim drugim poljima kako bi se privukli ljudi da steknu naviku da dolaze, jer imamo situaciju da Palić nije dovoljno izreklamiran. A Palić, osim veoma prijatnog ambijenta, može da ponudi i izuzetnu kulturnu manifestaciju kakva Festival svakako jeste. U celu tu priču treba da se uključi više činilaca i tek ćemo tada imati osnovu za jedan ozbiljniji priliv turista. Year after year, the budgetary concerns of European Film Festival Palić are becoming one of the most significant topics when it comes to the organization of the event. It is a sheer fortune that a sum of euros - won at a Creative Europe and its Media subprogramme contest - managed to somewhat fill in for 10 million dinars that the Municipality of Subotica and Provincial Secretary of Culture couldn t afford this year. So, it s only natural to open the interview with Ilija Tatić, the director of Open University and the executive producer of the Festival, on such a topic: For years we are facing significant budget cuts and this year the cut was rather drastic. It certainly is a positive sign that Creative Europe has, under its Media supbrogramme, recognized the importance of the Festival as an event of huge quality and potential; their financial aid, along with our usual contributors, has given us the opportunity to organize this event the only proper way. Of course, money isn t everything: there are many aspects of developing the Festival that are directly related to maintaining relationships with institutions, other festivals, various European partners... All of this has been improved in recent years. In order to do so, we needed to maintain the quality level of our Festival. That is the main condition if we wish to remain a part of Europe s important cultural circles. Having already succeeded in that desire, it would be insanity to lose a gem of European culture that is Palić - simply due to loss of domestic support. As previous years, The Festival practically started with screenings of films from Homage Programme and Classics on the THE INTERVIEW: ILIJA TATIĆ, DIRECTOR OF OPEN UNIVERSITY THE AUTHORS ARE RETURNING TO PALIĆ As organizers, it is a great honor that the audience is recognizing the value of our programme, again and again. ZLATKO ROMIĆ Square selections. Are you satisfied with response from the audience? Very satisfied. Especially because those films have already had their theatre run. They managed to attract the audience once again and that sure is something to be satisfied with. As organizers, it is a great honor that the audience is recognizing the value of our programme, the selection we bring each year, again and again. This is a good moment to mention the main Official Selection, as well as Parallels and Encounters and Young Spirit of Europe that bring us very interesting films. We have a top-quality programme which will most certainly be confirmed once the European Film Academy issues its list of most significant films by the end of the year. I am convinced that included in the list will be even more films screened at Palić than last year. That is the reason why I believe our audience will have a chance to see the best Europe had to offer in Maintaining the quality level of our Festival is the main condition to remain a part of Europe s important cultural circles. Beside the Festival guests, do you have any reports of tourists coming to Palić for the event? As far as we are concerned, we have done everything to bring as many professional filmmakers to Palić as possible. We are happy with the response. I d like to stress out that around ten prominent film critics of younger and middle generation - film critics in their prime and, in certain way, the representatives of European film critic - are coming to Palić. Needles to say, film directors and actors of about 80% of programme will attend. I don t want to reveal any names, because there s too many to count. All of them are laureates of notable awards, established authors. Some are even returning to Palić. This fact is especially dear to us all, because we try to nurture the relationship we have with our guests - so that they are happy to return. That only comes to say they like the Festival and hold it in high regard for its artistic quality. When it comes to the audience, I m hoping that people, especially from surrounding countries, will attend the Festival. Unfortunately, there isn t much our marketing sector can do about it. It is a much broader concept concerning the city and Palić and the task to promote the Festival as a pivotal tourist season event and Palić in general. It s a whole year s worth of work; the Festival needs to be promoted all year long, the city of Subotica is in need of some branding, you need to be present in media in order to attract people to visit constantly. We find ourselves in position that Palić is not marketed enough. Palić, aside from a very pleasant ambient, is able to offer an extraordinary cultural event that the Festival certainly is. More factors should join this cause. Only then we are going to have an opportunity for a more serious tourist flow.

Festivala evropskog filma Palić 2016, snoviđenja na javi uz prstohrvat paparazzo žanra FotoLUmna by LoonaLoo #Kako dolikuje, selektor Petar Mitrić dočekivao je goste pre svečanog otvaranja Festivala. Njegova rečenica da ovaj svet neće odbraniti ni vojska, ni policija, ni političari, već Pesnici i njihova Poezija smiruje moj veltšmerc. Ovaj dvadeset3 po redu Palić otvara se samo noć posle pokušaja vojnog puča u Turskoj i dok muk vlada Nicom i Francuskom na umetnicima i filmskim stvaraocima je da nam pomognu da sanjamo neki novi evropski san. #Imam jedan ritual, pre dolaska na Palić, dok putujem iz Beograda, negde na Panonskom moru, na benzinskoj pumpi kupim naočare za Festival. Jeftine, ali šik i udobne takoreći za višednevnu jednokratnu upotrebu. I tako godine prolaze, a kad vidim neki model, odmah znam koji je bio Festival i koji film mi je te godine promenio nešto u glavi. Ove godine model je mačkast i kroz njih je sve plavo, kao što Pesnik kaže: Plave kao tvoje oči, dečko. Neko sve posmatra kroz ružičaste naočare, a moj svet će na Paliću ove jako intenzivne, kompleksne i čudne i mračne biti true blue. #U goste nam večeras stižu Straigt Mickey and The Boyz ne propustite! Energičan bend koji je vredan pažnje i obožavanja. Pevuši se uveliko Jutro sve promeniti neće, svež miris istine kreće! #bioskopabazija #abazija #23.30h #Kada je reč o slobodnim dnevnim aktivnostima šetnja šumom je A Must! I po suncu i po kiši. Može i biciklom. Ovo je jedno, po meni, od najmagičnijih mesta na planeti divna Letnja pozornica i ta Šuma oko nje, hladi misli i rasplamsava maštu, vrlo je fotogenična i duboko sam uverena da je direktno uticala na razvoj mađarske secesije. #Sa nestrpljenjem sam očekivala novi film reditelja Nikolasa Vinding Refna. I zaista sam bila oduševljena kada sam otkrila da ću ga videti baš ovde, na #eff Neon Demon tj. DEMON POD REFLEKTORIMA, uzburkava društvene mreže gde devojke kopiraju i postavljaju ikonoklastičan make up i sve detalje sa plakata uključujući krvav vrat. I svi se pitaju da li su nove Instagram generacije dobile svoj kultni film. Procenite sami u 21h u Glavnoj (takmičarskoj) selekciji. Evropski san Bilo je autora koji su svojim kamerama uhvatili tren u kome se potresa tlo Starog kontinenta, poput prošlogodišnjeg laureata nagrade Aleksandar Lifka Želimira Žilnika koji je svoj poslednji film DESTINACIJA SRBISTAN posvetio upravo tom problemu migrantima MARIJA KRTINIĆ* Srušen je evropski san. Izbrisan, do nekog boljeg trenutka u kome ideja o jedinstvu različitih naroda neće propasti pred prvim izazovom. Pred prvim ispitom na kome je postavljeno pitanje da li ujedinjenje važi za sve ili samo za odabrane? Mnogo toga se dogodilo od prošlog izdanja Palićkog festivala. Mnogo toga što je prošlogodišnjem sloganu ( Evropski san ) dalo ironičnu notu. Od prvog trenutka kada su se novinari i ljubitelji filma prošle godine približili autobuskoj stanici u Beogradu, putujući ka Paliću, bilo je jasno da je taj evropski san nedostižan za mnoge. Autobusi su bili prepuni migranata, koji su na svoj put ka boljem životu krenuli, kako se to kaže, Balkanskom rutom. Za njih su Subotica i Palić bili poslednje mesto koje nije Evropa. Gradići u kojima će provesti još, kako su se nadali, nekoliko sati a ne nekoliko dana, nedelja ili meseci, pre nego što zakorače na tlo te željno iščekivane Evropske unije. Ilegalno, uz nečiju pomoć ili zbog nečije zarade. Mi, koji već godinama stojimo pred njenim vratima, pošli smo s drugim ciljem da na tom istom mestu vidimo barem deo (i to najslobodniji filmski) te, i za nas isto tako nedostižne, Evrope. Trenutak koji je Evropu pogodio sačekao nas je prošle godine i na autobuskoj stanici u Subotici u vidu taksista i pomagača koji su istog trenutka opkolili te ljude pokušavajući da dogovore određenu cenu za koju bi ih prevezli preko. Ali i u samom programu Festivala, među filmskim temama. Bilo je autora koji su svojim kamerama uhvatili tren u kome se potresa tlo Starog kontinenta, poput prošlogodišnjeg laureata nagrade Aleksandar Lifka Želimira Žilnika koji je svoj poslednji film DESTINACIJA SRBISTAN posvetio upravo tom problemu migrantima koji prolaze kroz našu zemlju bežeći od siromaštva i rata u severnoj Africi i na Bliskom Istoku. Smejali smo se kada je Žilnik kazao da za njegove junake ostanak u Srbiji nije postojao kao opcija. Vaša zemlja je lepa. Pravi raj. Zbog ratova koje ste prošli sigurno će još dugo vladati mir. Ali plate i zarade su male, pričali su mu migranti. Mnogo toga se dogodilo od prošlog Festivala. Kolone izbeglica stizale su pred mađarsku granicu. Bila je to (i još uvek jeste) najveća seoba naroda nakon Drugog svetskog rata, kako su isticali stručnjaci. Deo ljudi otvorio je vrata svojih domova, dok su drugi dizali zidove. Danas, na samo nekoliko kilometara od Palića, čuvari kao kerberi hvataju te nesrećne ljude, tuku ih i vraćaju na ovu našu stranu gde se i dalje sanja evropski san. Ove godine Festival je bez slogana. Čini se s razlogom. Šta reći o savremenoj Evropi iz koje bi neki da odu, jer drugi žele da ostanu. Ipak, tu su filmovi da daju ton nemoj slici. Đanfranko Rozi, italijanski dokumentarista koji je pokazao da u kinematografiji granice odavno ne postoje, postavši laureat najprestižnijih evropskih festivala (Berlina i Venecije) sa dokumentarnim filmovima, otvorio je manifestaciju filmom PO- ŽAR NA MORU. Rozi u svom filmu govori o drugoj, još težoj ruti, kojom azilanti kreću ka Evropi. O putu mora i gumenih čamaca koji mnoge od njih zauvek odnese u smrt a ne u bolji život. Sa koje god strane žice da stojimo, ideja jedinstva na Starom kontinentu, koji se nekada dičio time što je skup različitosti, izgubljena je. Evropski san pretvorio se u pepeo. Novih snova zasad nema. Kada će ih ponovo biti, otkriće kinematografija pre svih. Perpetuum Mobile Takođe večeras, od 23 sata na Terasi Muškog štranda nastupiće bend Perpetuum Mobile iz Subotice. Bend postoji od i u početku izvodi tuđe kompozicije. Istovremeno pravi autorske pesme i lansira singlove Can t Stop i Obey Me koji se dobro rangiraju na MTV i drugim stanicama. Debitantski album Featuring izdaje godine za etiketu EXIT. Uspešno nastupaju širom regiona. CONCERTS AND PARTIES Straight Mickey and the Boyz Tonight at p.m. in Abazija Summer Cinema, plays Straight Mickey And The Boyz, a dinamic threesome of great musicians from Belgrade that variouse impacts and styles compressed into characteristic sound. They are known as one of the most successful new bands in Serbia and the region for their explosive gigs and become one of those must-see live bands. Straight Mickey and the Boyz are Miki guitar and vocal, Danilo drums and vocal, Boško bass and vocal. Perpetuum Mobile Also tonight, at 11 p.m. on Men s Strand Terrace, performs Perpetuum Mobile band (Subotica) that has profiled since 1998 as a cover band, performing mainstream foreign authors tunes. At the same time they do author s stuff and have launched singles Can t Stop and Obey Me, successfully rated at MTV. They successfully perform in former YU and Central European region.
