1 The meeting of the Slovakian, Czech and Polish partner schools took place in I High School in Puck at the beginning of June. Although two of our partners, Spain and U.K could not accompany us because of final exams at their schools and additional meeting this year, we spent a fantastic time here together with the Czechs and Slovakians. By the way, Puck is very old town. It achieved town status in Nowadays Puck is the centre of water sports. On Friday 1st June in the morning the Czech team came to Puck. They spent some time at school with Polish students who showed them our school. Then they had a free time with their host families. In the afternoon, Slovak people joined us. At 7 o clock in the evening, the teachers had a meeting with a starost- our local authority, Mr. Wojciech Dettlaff and the head teacher of the school, Mr. Piotr Czaja in the restaurant Bosman in Puck. On Saturday 2 nd June we went to visit Tricity. We started in Gdynia and the first attraction was an aquarium. Students could see a lot of exotic fish, snakes and lizards. They could also learnt more about The Baltic Sea. After we visited "Dar Pomorza". It is a Polish sailing frigate built in Now it is a museum ship.

2 Another point of the program was visiting the most important monuments in Gdansk with the English speaking tourist guide. We saw gates leading to the medieval town. There were High Gate, Golden Gate and Green Gate. They are the examples of the prettiest sights in Gdansk and the evidence of a former city power. After that we went to St. Mary s Church. It is the largest brick church in the world. It can hold up to 25,000 people. The church is decorated within with several masterpieces of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque paintings. The most notable, The Last Judgement by Flemish painter Hans Memling, is currently preserved in the National Museum of Gdańsk. The next place we visited was Long Street which is one of the city s oldest thoroughfares. From the Golden Gate which protects it, the gently- curving street opens into an array of colourful burgher houses, rococo portals, gothic mouldings and original porticoes. The eastern end of the street is dominated by tall, slim tower of the Town Hall, which we visited too.

3 The oldest parts of the town hall from the years 1327 to In the Town Hall are the expositions of the history of Gdansk. During the tourist season you can visit the viewing gallery of the tower, where from a height of 50 meters offers a panorama of Gdansk. On Long Street is also a fountain of Neptune. It is a bronze statue of the sea god, and one of the most popular symbols of Gdansk. Then we went for a walk along the Motława River. From this place we could enjoy The Crane. It is a historic port crane in Gdańsk. The Crane is now part of the Polish Maritime Museum.

4 After a day of sightseeing, we went to Sopot to relax on the beach. From the beach, overlooking the pier. Sopot Pier is the longest wooden pier in Europe. Playing on the beach was the nicest moment of the day. On Sunday we went to Hel Peninsula. Our first stop was Hel. Hel is the most marine of Polish towns. Surrounded from three sides by water. There we visited a fishing museum, which in the past, was post-evangelical church. Then we went to the Seal Centre. Formally, the Seal House is a branch of the Marine Station of Gdańsk University s Oceanography Institute. The Station s task are much beyond what is seen every day by the tourists, as it conducts very extensive research on the seal population in the Baltic Sea. It is a scientific institution, a shelter, hospital, store and a nursery for seals, all in one. It is here that the sick and wounded seals are brought. After treatment and regaining their power they go back to the sea. Also baby seals were born here and set free to the Baltic sea. We saw a feeding time of the seals. There were a lot of people. The show was very interesting and seals was really cute.

5 Then we had a free time. We split into groups and each went in another direction. Some of them went to the beach, others bought souvenirs and the others walked around the city. When we left Hel we also went to the military museum. People could see here for example, remnants of Polish and German artillery batteries, ruins of shelters and fortifications. It s worth visiting the Tradition Chamber of the Hel Garrison. Here one will find i.e. an over 300-kg shell from the Schleswig-Holstein battleship, which was bombarding not only Westerplatte. The next town, where we stayed was Jurata. Jurata was from the very beginning designed as a place destined to bring health, soothe the nerves and give the guests full relaxation as the first Polish seaside spa. Two beaches, a broad promenade, rich and diverse accommodation from private quarters to luxurious hotels, many possibilities to rest. One of Jurata s attractions is Międzymorze Street a unique boulevard joining the Bay with the sea. We had about 2 hours free-time there. Most of us went to the beach. The rest of the people went to the pier and ate something at bars. It was really warm

6 and sunny. On the beach we had a great time. We played tag, sunbathed and we had fun in the water even it was cold. Then we went to Rozewie which isn t on Hel Penisula. We had the opportunity to enter the lighthouse, which was opened in 1822, but was rebuilt several times in the 19 th and 20 th centuries. It s total height is now 33 meters. Our last target that day was Jastrzębia Góra. Our goal was the furthest situated point of Polish sea with the most beautiful cliffs. We had no free-time there. We returned home about 6 p.m. It was really a fantastic day. We had a great time.

7 On Monday we met at school and together went to the Museum of the Puck Region. We could see where lived Kashubian people in the past. We saw old furniture, clothes and school. There are also exposures related to Kashubians craftwork. For example, a smithy, weaving factory, shoe repair, tailoring. Our foreign guests could learn more about our history and traditions. The second point of our plan was very exciting. We sailed on the Puck Bay. It was a great experience for everybody. We could enjoy views of the Peninsula and Puck. After that we had lunch in a popular restaurant U Budzisza. This restaurant serves delicious fish. It was a good opportunity to taste fresh fish straight from the fishing boat.

8 In the afternoon we had some leasure time. Czech and Slovak teams spent this time with their host families. A lot of people went for a walk along the beach. On Tuesday, in the morning, Slovak group left Puck. The Czechs with students from Poland had activities at school. They had to prepare a poster about their trip to Poland. They created a funny poster with lots of photos and drawings. After that, they went on the Polish language and Geography lessons. In the evening we met at the railway station to say goodbye people from The Czech Republic. It was very hard for everyone. Some people cried. We are very happy, that we have Internet and facebook and we can keep in touch

9 Here are some Czech people s opinions about their trip to Puck, in Poland: The meeting in Puck was an amazing experience for me. I could learn something new about the life in such northern place, about the culture and traditions of Kaszubian people and also improve my English communication skills. We visited many interesting places, such as historical sight Gdansk or enjoyable deep - sea aquarium in Gdynia and the seal - aquarium in Hel. I would like to thank to Polish students and teachers for attractive plan and also to families for pleasant welcome at their homes. Tereza We enjoyed the most the time spent on the beach because the sea is precious for us. It was nice to watch the beautiful sunsets. Sailing was an exciting experience and for that reason we would like to do it again. The history of Gdansk was interesting and we also admired the beauty of the city while listening to our energetic yet very nice guide. On the last day we had a good opportunity to compare teaching techniques in our school with the school in Puck. We are thankful to all host families, students and teachers who prepared our stay in Poland and who gave us a lot of beautiful memories. Barbora I was looking forward to Poland because I had known some Polish students. I spent very nice time there. Although I had to visit the hospital in Puck I really enjoyed my stay in Poland. I will always remember the sunny afternoon on the beach in Jurata and the paddling in the Baltic sea (only below our knees). I love Polish language and people like Julia and Monika. Veronika It was a very nice feeling to be Polish for a while. We learnt some interesting words and we got to know their traditions. I love Puck because I knew very nice people there. We spent a lot of time together and it was a great time. I hope that we will meet together in the future again. Denisa

10 Our arrival was bad because it was raining in Gdańsk but in Puck the rain stopped. On Saturday we saw beautiful cities, unfortunately the weather was not perfect but on Sunday everything changed and we were on one of the most beautiful beaches in Poland which was great. On Monday we were in Puck and went sailing which was great too. Our trip ended with a long journey home. I already miss my new Polish and Slovak friends. Matěj What was our meeting in Puck like? It was five days full of sun, wind, sand, sea and good mood. It was five days when the world shrank into one place. It was five days when we were feeling like home but our families were incredibly far away. It was five days which we will remember forever. And it was many people who we cannot forget. Martina The sea was definitely the thing which I enjoyed the most. The time spent on the beach was always great and I also loved the sailing. I have always wanted to try it and I am happy that I got the opportunity. The historical city of Gdańsk is beautiful and our guide was amazing. I am thankful to my host family for being so nice and for taking care of us. I only wish the weather was better. V piatok o 3:15 sme odišli z Martina. Príchod do Pucku bol okolo 16:30, kde sa ubytovalo niekoľko spolužiakov. Ja som bývala v neďalekom meste nazývané Wladislawowo, kam ma doviezol náš autobus okolo 17:00. Šli sme sa ubytovať a mali sme program s dievčaťom z hostiteľskej rodiny. V sobotu sme prišli vlakom na autobusovú stanicu v Pucku, kde na nás čakal autobus. Prvá zastávka bola v Gdyni. Prehliadli sme si námestie, pobrežie a more z areálu akvária. Nasledovala prehliadka akvária, kde sme videli rôzne druhy živočíchov, ktoré sa môžu vyskytovať vo vodách Baltického mora, ale aj rôzne iné morské živočíchy. Nasledovala prehliadka lode, na ktorej bolo múzeum, kde sme videli ako muži kedysi na lodi žili, kde spávali, kde pracovali, aké oblečenie nosili,

11 aké ocenenia mohli získať. Na poludnie nás vyzdvihol autobus a následne nás odviezol do ďalšieho mesta Gdaňsk. Tu sme počkali na sprievodkyňu, ktorá nás oboznámila s históriu a unikátnosťami Gdaňska a taktiež Poľska. Navštívili sme s ňou najväčší tehlový kostol, radnicu, známu ulicu Dluga ulica, radnicu, námestie. O každej z navštívených pamiatok sme sa dozvedeli veľa nových zaujímavých informácií. Po prehliadke nasledoval rozchod. Poobede sme šli do mesta Sopot, kde sme taktiež mali rozchod, ja som ho využila na shopping, ale taktiež na prezretie dlhého móla (výbežku do mora) ako hlavný bod programu v tomto meste. O 19:00 sme prišli do Pucku, odkiaľ som sa dostala do Wladislawowa. V nedeľu ráno o 9:00 sme sa opäť autobusom doviezli do mesta Hel, kde sme najprv navštívili múzeum o lodiach, živočíchoch Baltického mora, lodnej technike a podobne. Na vrchu bola vyhliadková plocha, z ktorej bol krásny výhľad na more. Nasledovalo sledovanie kŕmenia tuleňov vo vodnom parku, čo bolo veľmi pozoruhodné a zlaté. Následne sme mali rozchod, ktorý väčšina využila na pobyt na pláži. Ďalšia zastávka bola v Vojenskom múzeu v prírode. Mohli sme sa povoziť na vláčiku, pozrieť ťažké vojenské stroje, konštrukcie, autá, ale aj strieľať zo zbrane. O 14:00 sme sa doviezli do Juraty, kde sme boli na veľkej pláži. Na druhej strane bola dlhá promenáda do mora, na jednej strane sme videli labute a iné zvieratá a odvšadiaľ bol výhľad na otvorené more. Využili sme čas aj na obed. Poobede okolo 15:00 sme už boli v Rozewie, kde sme mohli ísť až na vrchol krásneho veľkého majáku a užívať si výhľad. Dolu v obchodíkoch a stánkoch sme si mohli kúpiť suveníry. Posledná zastávka počas tohto dňa bola Jastrzebia Gora, kde sa nachádza najsevernejší bod Poľska a naskytol sa nám krásny výhľad opäť na more a pod nami bola veľká pláž. Nasledoval odvoz domov. V pondelok sme museli byť o 8:00 už v škole, kde nás čakala ukážka školy tried, učební, telocvične, kabinetu učiteľov, premietaciu miestnosť a v neposlednej rade aj triedu, kde sa stretáva poľská skupina členov projektu Comenius. Potom nás čakalo video o meste Puck, v ktorom sme sa dozvedeli základné informácie o tomto meste a aj čosi o ich hlavnej atrakcii a síce sailing-u. Práve toto nás čakalo hneď po prezretí dvoch múzeí. Jedno bolo zamerané na život obyvateľov Poľska v minulosti, niečo ako náš skanzen. Videli sme tam tradične zariadené izby, kroje, nástroje, náradia a pod. V druhom múzeu, čo na mňa pôsobilo skôr ako galéria sme videli na troch poschodiach rôzne obrazy s rôznou tematikou prírodnou, náboženskou, obrazy s citátmi, hlavnými myšlienkami, alebo aj obrazy žien. Po tomto nasledoval už zmienený sailing, na ktorom sme dostali záchranné vesty, nastúpili sme do lode a podľa vetra sme sa pohybovali. Naša posádka dostala možnosť sama udávať smer lode, čo zo začiatku v mojom prípade skoro nedopadlo dobre. Plachtili sme len

12 v zátoke, odkiaľ sme videli celé ohraničenie zátoky zemou, veterné elektrárne, malé mestečká resp. reštaurácie, domy. Okolo 14:00 sme sa všetci úspešne vyplavili a v rybacej reštaurácii sme mali obed. Pred návratom do Wladislawowa som sa ja musela zastaviť v škole, keďže ja a aj niektorí ostatní si tam odložili veci. Potom nasledoval už len osobný program s ostatnými. Posledný deň utorok spočíval v skorom rannom vstávaní a zhromaždení sa na parkovisku pred tamojšou školou o 7:20. O 7:40 sme vyrazili z Pucku a do Martina sme prišli šťastlivo približne o 21:30. Múzeá a všetky ostatné atrakcie sme mali zaplatené, naše výdavky boli len na vlak do Pucku a ostatné platenie boli už kvôli osobných potrebám. Každá jedna atrakcia bola svojím spôsobom originálna, zaujímavá a poučná. Niekedy mi občas vyrazili niektoré dych, pretože som neverila, že taká krása niekde môže existovať (najviac mňa osobne očarili pláže, more a sailing). Taktiež sa mi páčila škola našich poľských členov, zaujal ma ich systém výučby, ktorý je v niektorých momentoch odlišný od nášho. Pobyt v Poľsku práve cez Comenius mi pomohol precvičiť si angličtinu v reálnom živote, kde nikto nevie, čo budete musieť povedať, čo použiť. Dokonca aj týchto pár dní ja osobne cítim ako zlepšenie. Okrem angličtiny si každý z nás odniesol aj nové slovíčka z poľštiny a prekvapivo aj z češtiny. Ubytovanie bolo výborné, strava taktiež a to isté platí aj pre hostiteľskú rodinu, ktorej veľmi ďakujem. Nenapadá ma ani jedna chybička, ktorú by tento pobyt a zážitky mali.

13 Pláž v meste Hel. Toto mesto sme navštívili v nedeľu Mali sme krásny výhľad na otvorené more. V meste Gdyňa v múzeu na lodi. Okrem iného bolo ukázané, ako vtedy muži žili a pracovali na lodi. Na tejto fotografii je zobrazené ako to bolo na lodi zariadené a ako stolovali vyšší dôstojníci posádky. Táto fotka je tiež z Gdyne akvária. Môžeme tu vidieť ryby, ktoré síce nežijú v Baltickom mori, ale aj tak boli na výstave, keďže je to jedna z najobľúbenejších akvárijných rybyčiek. Podľa všetkého by to mal byť Klaun očkatý (Amphiprion ocellaris). Práve táto fotka ma zaujala preto, lebo tento druh rybky je známy z rozprávky Hľadá sa Nemo.
