1 At a glance... Location Date Students Teachers Organised by Our Tour to South Africa was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students. I cannot believe how much we crammed in to our 2 weeks away! Cage Diving with Great White Sharks, the Game Drives and the Canopy Tour were all highlights but the moments that really made the Tour involved the people we met. So many students had their hostings as one of the Top features of their Tour. And to top the whole experience off one of the schools arranged for the Captains of both rugby teams to arrive at the match by helicopter...an unforgettable moment! It was amazing that my son was able to take part. I think the fantastic group of boys, girls and staff made it what is was. Our son has now seen South Africa! He s been away from home for two weeks, in a team and peer environment, and has broadened his horizons - the list of benefits is endless! Not only will your child benefit from all of the amazing experiences - seals, penguins, sharks, boats, elephants, lions, new cultures and customs, but this once in a school life opportunity will send them home grown in self-belief, having learnt to compromise and consider others in a way that can t be learned at home. 2 Itinerary highlights Monday 18th July On arrival this morning, meet your coach and drive into the city to visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with its shopping, restaurants and craft market. Transfer to take the cable car up to Table Mountain for stunning views of the city and Table Bay. Transfer to the Garden Court de Waal Hotel for a one night stay. Thursday 21st July Leave your hosts this morning and transfer to the Waterfront for a boat trip to visit Robben Island for a tour of the island and prison where Nelson Mandela was held. Back on the mainland, transfer to Stellenbosch in the Western Cape Winelands, where you will check into the Stellenbosch Protea Hotel for one night. Enjoy dinner in Stellenbosch. Tuesday 19th July Check out this morning and transfer for a Cape Peninsula tour, to include visits to Hout Bay where you will take a boat trip to Duiker Island to see the seal colony, Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach penguin colony. Drive back to Cape Town to meet your first hosts for a two night stay. Friday 22nd July Check out this morning and transfer by coach east to Knysna. Stop en route for lunch at Hermanus where you could do some whale watching from the shore. Continue to Knysna and check into the Knysna Log Inn for two nights. Enjoy your evening in one of the restaurants on the Knysna Waterfront. Wednesday 20th July This morning you visit Newlands Stadium for a guided tour or the excellent Two Oceans Aquarium on the Waterfront. Return to your hosts to play: Match 1: Host netball side v. Match 1: Host hockey side v. Match 1: Host rugby side v. Park House Saturday 23rd July Enjoy your morning in Knysna. Return to your hotel before playing your next matches against local community sides: Match 2: local community netball side v. Park House School Match 2: local community hockey side v. 3 Itinerary highlights Sunday 24th July Check out this morning and board your coach for the drive to Port Elizabeth, stopping en route at the Tsitiskamma National Park. Meet your next hosts in Port Elizabeth for a two night stay. Wednesday 27th July Rise early for a final Game Drive at sunrise. Return for breakfast and check out before transferring by coach to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Durban. Meet your coach on arrival and your girls will transfer to final hosts for a two night stay. Boys will transfer to the beach resort of Umhlanga and stay at the Garden Court Hotel for three nights. Monday 25th July Local sightseeing this morning before returning to school to play: Match 3: Host netball side v. Match 3: Host hockey side v. Match 3: Host rugby side v. Enjoy the evening with your hosts. Thursday 28th July This morning you could visit the beach or the Natal Sharks Board to learn all about the Great White. Girls return to your hosts and boys transfer to play for your final matches. Match 4: Host netball side v. Park House School Match 4: Host hockey side v. Match 4: Local rugby side v.. Enjoy the evening with your hosts / at your hotel. Tuesday 26th July Say goodbye this morning and transfer to the Kariega Game Reserve for a one night stay in luxury lodge accommodation on a full board basis. Settle in before going on an escorted Game Drive at sunset to spot the big five, i.e. lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. Enjoy your evening together in the bush. Friday 29th July The whole group may like to visit the Ushaka Marine World with its various attractions or the Gateway Shopping Mall with its large selection of shops. You will then transfer to visit the Sithengile School where you will spend time with the children.
