4 NTRODUCT ION This report of the Norwegian research vesses cruise programmes is produced annuay for the information of the Internationa Counci for the Exporation of the Sea and the ntergovernmenta Oceanographic Commission, at their request. t may aso be of interest and use to scientists wishing to know the nature of the research being carried out and the area in which the ships wi be operating. Attempts to incude a research vesses have been made. The cruise Programmes are comprehensive for the Institute of Marine Research, Bergen, ess so for other nstitutions.
