Known for its beautiful natural resources, first-class facilities and family-friendly atmosphere, CYC is located on its own island where the meets Lake Erie nine miles west of downtown Cleveland. From its North Arm flanked by a welcoming lighthouse to the secluded South End island picnic area to the bustling clubhouse and pool complex in between every inch of nature s beauty and the modern structures built upon it provide endless enjoyment. Whether you are a new member, longstanding member or a visitor, there is so much to see and do. This guide maps out the Island and details all its amenities. 3 GETTING HERE How to get to the Island? BY LAND - Located in the leafy suburb of, you can drive down Yacht Club Drive, just north of Detroit Road and Old Lake Road. Meander down Yacht Club Drive to the right and go over the bridge to the Guardhouse. To provide a secure gate, members must display their Car Sticker or show their Membership Card for access past the Guardhouse. Visitors must present a Pass signed by a member. (See House Rules in the Club Roster.) Island speed is 10 mph. BY LAKE Nestled at the mouth of the, the Club is located at latitude degrees N by longitude degrees W. As you approach the CYC harbor, call the Gas Dock on VHF Channel 9 or 16 and identify yourself. You will be assigned a slip and dock attendants will be dispatched to guide you and assist in docking. Please note the waters from the lighthouse toward the Club are a No Wake Zone and are patrolled. Guests are required to register and obtain a CYC Guest Card for use during their visit. Guest cards and welcome packages are issued at the Gas Dock. As our registered guest, you and your crew are invited to move freely about the premises, which include clubhouse, dining rooms, snack bar, showers and restrooms, laundry room, swimming pool and children s play area. Love of water and boats is what binds us all together. Home to more than 300 sail and power boats, CYC offers a host of docking options. The docks are numbered 1 through 532 clockwise around the island. East Channel for larger yachts - Docks and Docks North Arm limited to boats no longer than 34 feet - Docks West Channel restricted to the length overall of the dock end - Docks North Basin for smaller sailboats 30 feet or less in length - Docks Members - If you want to be considered for an assignment to a dock, you need to fill out an Application for Dock (blue form) or file a Dock Change Request (pink form). Assignments are made according to the Dock Seniority List (DSL) in effect at the time of the committee meeting held for that purpose. Visiting Yachtsmen - Courtesy docking privileges are available, space permitting, for boaters who are members in good standing of a reciprocal yacht club. Contact the Harbor Master at the Gas Dock, , ext. 237 to determine availability. A charge will apply. For your convenience, water and power are provided at the docks. Gasoline, diesel fuel and oil are available for members and guests. Dock fee is $1.75 per foot, per day. Visiting members from reciprocal clubs get the second night free. BOAT DOCKS Dock Boxes are available for purchase from the Gas Dock in three sizes: four-foot, six-foot and triangle. 4 5

4 CLUBHOUSE The stately clubhouse hosts everything from black-tie dinner dances to sailing awards banquets to family dinners. In addition to several dining venues, bars and banquet rooms, the Clubhouse has administrative offices, library and a gift shop. Overlooking the harbor with a panoramic view of Lake Erie, CYC offers a variety of dining venues from the elegant Club Room to casual Marine Terrace to outdoor dining on the Porch, a great place to chill during the summer months. The Club Room, Lounge, West Room and Snug Harbor provide views of the harbor and are the perfect places for small occasions to large weddings and business conferences. All rooms are equipped with WiFi. This lounge features HDTVs, yachting burgees from around the world and a photo gallery of all the Past Commodores. The Pilot House Bar, located on the second floor, is the center for socializing and reminiscing about the day s boating activities. The lounge resembles a ship s portal that features a bar, warm wood and nautical motif, large screen HDTVs, and a fabulous view of our harbor. Dining options are as varied and colorful as the venues in which you enjoy them. From the Best Brunch in Town on Sundays to Family Night Specials with Flower Clown, 60+ Dining Specials, Perch Fry, Thrill of the Grill and Wine Down Work Week there is something to please every palate. Just call ext Aptly named because of its central location, the Center Isle complex hosts social events such as clambakes, chili cook-offs, banquets and post-race gatherings. This newly renovated facility boasts a cozy bar, soaring stone double-sided fireplace, octagonal party room, outdoor picnic areas, swimming pool, locker rooms and showers. The party room, which seats up to 100 people, can be reserved for private parties. Our picnic area, with a covered pavilion that seats up to 80, features grills for those who enjoy cooking outdoors. For delicious cooked-to-order fare, the new Topside Bar & Grille on the Pool Deck is the place to be in the summer. Amenities include: A 50-by-100 foot Olympic sized outdoor pool and deck area (Lifeguards are on duty at all times during normal pool hours. The adjoining snack bar, cocktail bar and grill and locker rooms add a world of convenience to your poolside experience. The pool also serves as the perfect spot for swim team meets (home of the award-winning Orcas), water aerobics, dive-in movies, swim lessons, scuba lessons and theme parties. All people entering the Pool Gate must show their Membership Card or Pool Pass, which can be purchased at the Pool Gate. Members can bring up to two guests at no charge. 5 PORT O CALL Located just west of the swimming pool complex, the Port O Call Building houses the Yard Office, Accounting Department and Maintenance Department. Members can visit the Yard Office to pick up dock forms and look at the big map of docks, and they can come to the Accounting Office to discuss any questions on their bill statements. The offices are open Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Helpful Forms include: Application for Dock, Dock Change Request, Memo of Boat Lease, Seniority Under Boat Lease, Additional Craft Permit Application, Dock Cancellation Notice, Winter Storage Application, Replacement Boat Form and Yard Request Form. (These forms are also available online at CYC offers protected dockage to our members with an array of yard services. Our Harbor Master will be happy to arrange for services including fuel, launch, winter storage, dry sail storage, boat washing, crane and fork lift service and labor. Wash-n-Go service is available to all boaters on Thursday by appointment. Just call ext The member must bring his/her own boat to the haul-out well. The Yard Crew will haul out, pressure wash the bottom only and relaunch. Crane service is available for engine placement, mast placement, etc. Forklift truck service takes care of material handling on the Island. Yard Crew labor is available to any member for an activity authorized by the General Manager or Yard Superintendent. Winter storage is available to members on a space-available basis at $2.60 per square foot. This includes haul out, pressure wash and launch in the spring. Also at the Port O Call Building, the Yard Crew is happy to inflate intertubes and rafts. Please do not place shrink wrap in trash receptacles. Recycle bags are available at the Gas Dock. Just leave them by your boat and an employee will pick them up. Also bring any used oil to the Gas Dock for disposal. Located mid-island along the East Channel, the Gas Dock is open seven days a week during boating season. At the Gas Dock members can purchase soft drinks, beer, ice and snack foods. The Harbor Master can also arrange dockside delivery. Just call VHF9 or extention 237. Members and guests can sign out canoes and kayaks free of charge for another boating experience. Boaters much supply their own life jackets and be at least 16 years of age. Just call ext For Pump Outs, the Gas Dock vacuums the holding tank and flushes with fresh water. Cost is $10 for guests. North Arm and South End Our jewel of an island is not without its hidden charms. Two small and intimate spaces cradling the outer edges of the property are big on atmosphere. The North Arm is a picture-perfect picnic area for all members and guests, offering some of the most scenic views on the Island. This grassy peninsula of land includes three picnic pads and is about 25 feet by 150 feet. The Club offers a party tent that can be assembled for memorable cocktail parties and events. During Sail Camp in the summer, the North Arm serves as a staging area for children. For an ultra private picnic destination, the South End island picnic area provides a unique view of the heading south, including the Hotel or Pink Palace, the Detroit Avenue Bridge and train tressel. It s beautifully landscaped and far away from the hustle and bustle of the Island. It even has its own family-sized picnic table and grill. GAS DOCK North Arm/South End 8 9

6 ACTIVITIES CYC offers year-round activities you can enjoy even if you don t own a boat. Members, their families and guests enjoy fine dining, exciting social events, youth activities, swimming, picnicking and just plain relaxation all with the backdrop of Cleveland s most spectacular lake views. Just a few of our activities include the Father-Daughter Dance, Men s Stag Night, Put-In-Bay Party and Island Boat Hop. Annual events range from Commodores Ball to Regatta Week, Change of Watch Dinner, Wine Tasting Dinner and various holiday celebrations. FLEETS - Winter, spring, summer or fall...there is something for everyone. Joining one of our many groups is a good way to stay in touch with old friends and make new ones. CYC offers a variety of organized activities designed to fit members non-boating interests. Sail Fleets Power Fleet Golf Fleet Skeet Fleet Bowling League Tennis Club Chorus Book Club Bridge Groups Junior Sail Camp - We take pride in running one of the biggest Sail Camps on the Great Lakes. For six weeks each summer, our juniors enjoy a comprehensive program on the water. In addition to honing sailing, power boating, kayaking and swimming skills, Sail Camp traditions include Dress-Like-A-Pirate Day and the Cardboard Boat Race. Junior Race Team - One of the most successful competitive sailing programs on Lake Erie has our finest junior sailors practicing in late afternoon during the week and then competing in regattas around the region on weekends. Orcas Swim Team - Consistently producing championship teams, swimmers of all skill levels and speeds quickly find a place on the team. This is a great sport with a camaraderie among team members that is extraordinary, and fun for the parents as well. Ladies Groups - Through the Wet Hens, there are a variety of pursuits such as sailing, tennis and golf. Within the Ladies Day programs, our women can enjoy trips, luncheons, fashion shows and a variety of special events. Fishing Fleet - From ice fishing trips to walleye tournaments, our anglers have an active schedule that includes the whole family.
