1 1 Lennox Edward Honychurch Lennox Honychurch is a Dominican anthropologist, historian, academic and artist whose research work is mainly concerned with the contact and cultural exchange between the Carib/Kalinago people of the Lesser Antilles and arrivals from Europe and Africa. He studied anthropology at the University of Oxford and works from his base on Dominica. Résumé: Lennox Edward Honychurch, D. Phil., M Phil. Did fieldwork in the Caribbean under direction of Dr. Henri Petitjean Roger and Benoit Berard of Martinique. Curator of Dominica s archaeology storage unit at Fort Shirley. Has identified the majority of the 40 Pre-Columbian archaeological sites on Dominica and continues to work with and provide local support for visiting archaeologists. Booklet in production: Island Ecology and the Archaeology of Dominica. Lecturer, Tour Leader: Tour Guide Training: Since 1980, providing training sessions for tour guides on Dominica, leading programmes directed at training tourist guides, taxi drivers and tour operators in aspects of Dominican history, culture and environment. Between 2001 and 2004, these presented as part of the Staff Tutor outreach programme of the UWI School of continuing Studies, Dominica. Leader of hiking expeditions in Dominica forests and producer of trail information and environmental educational material, e.g. The Trois Pitons National Park Guide, published by UNESCO. Supervisor of the opening of the Capuchin to Pennville trail across the north coast of Dominica. Advisor for expeditions of local Duke of Edinburgh Award participants and Youth Environment Service Corps (YES Corps). Lecturer and tour leader with wide Caribbean experience in areas of history, indigenous people, folklore, politics, geography and nature. From 1984, has work with special-interest cruises aboard the sailing vessel Sea Cloud and the Yorktown Clipper of Clipper Cruise Lines guiding groups and giving lectures on several visits to Venezuela, up the Orinoco River, in the Dutch Antilles ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao and all of the Lesser Antilles and Trinidad and Tobago up into the Virgin Islands. Artist: One of the leading artists of Dominica, illustrator of textbooks; best known for public murals and oil paintings of landscapes and folk representations. Murals, measuring on average 16 x 10 and larger include: History of the Postal Service: Foyer, General Post Office, Roseau. Prince Rupert Bay 1799: Cruise Ship Terminal, Cabrits National Park. Roseau Bayfront 1905: Garraway Hotel. Attended costume design workshop conducted by Peter Minshall, Designed and constructed scenery for shows and plays for People Action Theatre (PAT), National Day Committee and Carnival Organising Committee (COC) since 1970s. Fellowships 1987 Awarded Commonwealth Fellowship by The Commonwealth Secretariat, visiting United Kingdom and India to study systems of Government and Foreign Relations within the Commonwealth US State Department Visitor Programme. One month guest of the US State Department studying systems of Government and history of the US in Washington DC, New York and Boston.
