BUILDING PERMITS ISSUED IN CANADA, JULY, 1945 The July report of Building Permits includes returns from 173 of the 204 municipalities in Canada which have systems for issuing such permits and of this number 166 reported detailed operuitions. The remaining 7 advised that no permits had been issued during the month of July, while 31 municipalities had failed to report at the close of August 10th. The total value of permits reported as issued in the month of July Is *18,777,266. Revised values for the month of June include returns from 403 municipalities and aggregate $19,573,902. Reports were received from 55 of the 58 original municipalities and show a value of $14,168,916 for July. The corresponding revised value of June includes 58 returns and is $14,188,447 while the July 1944 value was $9,751,652. The total value of permits issued by all municipalities during the seven elapsed months of this year is $99,329,112. The value of the 58 municipalities for the same period is $70,948,608, while their corresponding value in 1944 was $57,331,834. During the month of July new construction of all types amounted to 70.4 per cent of the total value, while the percentage of new residential construction was Table No. 4 is arranged so as to give complete information as to the number and description of new housing units (new building and conversions).
